Amos 3:7 (KJV) Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

I'm studying the book of Amos and I'm curious about the above verse? Do you think there has been prophets in every age? Or was John the Baptist the last prophet, closing out the Old testament. I've wondered if during the age of Grace, if God will still warn a nation before divine judgment?

God now speaks to church thru the people with the gift of Xenolalia like in our church, under supervision of elders. Its the church duty to warn the world of the judgment of Great Tribulation

1 Cor 14:29 ...let two or three prophets speaks n others weigh carefully what is said

There will be prophets that become known as we approach the times of tribulation. In Revelation 11;3, it states that the two witnesses will prophesy.  We also know that there will be a false prophet as mentioned in Revelation 19:20. The verse in Amos is a promise from the Lord. God has revealed things in the prophecies found in the bible and new prophecies will be declared by the prophets of the end time. The prophecies given by previous prophets of God were sometimes singular but often they have been found to be dual, meaning they can refer to the times given and can also refer to the end times. The prophets of the end times will walk in the power of the Lord and will become known.

I suspect the Lord uses many people to speak for him at various times. In other words, he might use you to tell me something, or he might use me to tell you something.

There are still prophets, if there were not Paul would not have labeled them in Ephesians

Ephesians 4:11

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers,

That being said, they are no longer the voice of God, they are the echo of God. Each believer now has the Holy Spirit indwelling them, and He speaks directly to us. But some times, things in our life are so loud we do not hear Him, in those cases God will use someone to echo what he has already told you. They will speak nothing new to you, though they may plant a seed that you will later come to understand.

It all happens on a much more personal level

When I first became a Christian I went to a Charismatic church, and prophecies and 'words" flew around like seagulls at a dump.  But the one prophecy that stuck is the one I did not want to hear.  And it was the one that was true.

Armies shall stand on the anti-Christs part, and they shall defile the sanctuary fortress, and shall take away the daily
temple sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination of desolation. ...

And they that understand among the people shall instruct many .. Daniel 11:31-35

So even during the time of the anti-Christ there will be instruction from people of God.

This was the case up to and including 70AD when the temple was destroyed and the believers escaped.

Josephus describes it all in gory detail.

1 Cor. 13:9-12 (ESV)

9 For we know in part and we prophesy in part,
10 but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away.
11 When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways.
12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

1 Cor. 14:1-5 (EMTV)

1 Pursue love, and earnestly desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.
2 For he who speaks in a tongue speaks not to men, but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
3 But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.
4 He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.
5 Now I wish that you all spoke in tongues, but even more that you should prophesy; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets, so that the church may be edified.

Rom. 12:4-6 (EMTV)

4 For just as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function,
5 so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another.
  6 Having then gifts differing according to the grace having been given to us, let us use them: whether prophecy, let us prophesy according to the proportion of faith;

There have been prophets during the OT and ever since John the Immerser.  Prophecy is for the whole New Covenant era.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
