Maybe it makes people realize that at that time, peoplehave been followers or they heard of Jesus when they came to Him ,but really after Pentecost, people were filled with the Holy Spirit and sealed until the end and God took possessions of the souls of people who realized that He died for them and accepting Him in their heart.

Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 1:13

Such a comforting thought..

Yup…the Jews were hoping and waiting for Messiah, but the rabbis taught an incorrect version as we know. Some of them, as Jesus said, were given ears to hear the Truth believed on Him and were after His Ascension born from above and sealed. That day of Pentecost was an amazing event. “….this is that….” From Joel.

The above appears to imply believers can be bedazzled and fooled by sorcery.

It doesn't say possessed but it is the closest I can think of.

For the most part…for the Christian…the battle takes place in the mind. This is why it is vital that we have a solid foundation of the Truth in Christ, so as not to be easily fooled by fable, myths and the erroneous teachings of men who have followed their own counsel rather than sound doctrine.

Where did you read that those people were sealed and filled with the Holy Spirit?

I'm not saying that people don't get sick,we will as long as we live in this earthy body..

In Matthew 18, the King 'Jesus' Forgave their debt, and they withheld forgiveness. It was a parable for believers.

How can sickness dwell in a person who is filled with the Holy Spirit, when they are the temple of the most high God? How can a believer sin or have contrary thoughts when they are filled with the Holy Spirit?

A believer who has the Holy Spirit, they are born again, the demon cannot touch their born again spirit, but the soul (mind will and emotions) needs to be renewed to His Word (Romans 12:2; 2 Cor 10:5; Eph 4:22). Our soul is process and a believer can have areas of their soul that demons can torment and take a hold, because the soul also controls the body, it can also cause bodily movements or speak through them. Demons can only take a hold of the soul submitted to the flesh.

If you are a believer and live in sin, play with witchcraft, engage in sexual morality, or believe the voice of the enemy -fear, rejection, etc, you can give place to the devil in your soul. Just because you're born again does not make you safe when you play around with the devil.

1 Corinthians 10:20 Rather, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice they sacrifice to demons and not to God, and I do not want you to have fellowship with demons.

Romans 13:12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light.

Ephesians 4:27 nor give place to the devil.

The issue is, when the bible is clear on casting demons out, we see it practiced in the life of Jesus and the early church, but we neglect this ministry and pretend it all vanishes once the person says the prayer, the demons stay.

So, to be clear, are you saying oppression, not possession?

I think sometimes we confuse the sinful nature with demons.

Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.

This is not true of an actual born from above saint my friend--this is a lie and a distortion of what happens in a beleiver's life as His Lord and Savior works in him. You need to confine these things to those outside of Christ.

To be clear, I am talking about a demon dwelling in a persons body. I don't believe a believer can fully be possessed (owned) by a demon, but a demon can enter if there is a door and cause a flood of demonic thoughts, sickness in the body, fear, intensified temptation, etc.

I am careful about what words I use because the bible uses the term oppression as an umbrella term meaning all who are oppressed by the devil.

Acts 10:38 how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

We see in Acts 5:16, that multitudes came that were tormented, which means to be harassed and vexed with unclean spirits

Acts 5:16 Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.

There are multitudes in need of this today because the younger generation is being taught to open every door to the enemy (witchcraft, sexual immorality and perversion, etc) and just because someone is a confessing believer, doesnt mean they are safe from demonic affliction if they open the door.

I think you’re talking about oppression, if you’re born again you belong to Jesus and can still listen to the flesh and get deceived ,that is why the Bible warns us to be alert at all time…and not to get deceived, give the devil no foothold…..
