Hi Everyone... I just happened on this website by accident. I'm hoping someone can give me some insight.

I've been a believer for many years and thought I was rooted and grounded in the word before I met my boyfriend. I would like to list some things he believes and criticizes me when I don't see it the same way as he does.

1. Sin is no longer imputed to the believer...Jesus died for past, present and future sins...thus showing that there is no longer any need to asking forgiveness. All we are required to do is seek Him and thats it.

2.We cannot change our ways, thoughts, etc. We have no control over our body because sin lies in the flesh...not the spirit. By this he believes that it doesn't matter what the body does. The body can sin because sin lies in it. The spirit is what matters. Thus he believes that it's okay to have sex before marriage...lie...etc, because it's not us that sins but our body. He often quotes from Paul....Everythings lawful for me to do...but not everything edifies God.

Whenever I dispute him on anything he says I'm living under the law....that I'm not living under the freedom I have been given. He totally disregards any scripture I give him by saying it was said while under the law...even Jesus' teachings he says that. He picks and chooses what he wants to believe.

3. He doesn't believe in going to church....says that they all teach the law and sin.

4.He believes that there are only a few "real" believers that know the truth.

5.He believes God puts sickness on you when you disobey him....if God puts sickness on you, then why does he heal you? Wouldn't he be working against himself?

There are so many other things I want to write but will limit it to what I have now. I'm having a really difficult time. I used to feel so close to God...now I feel so far away from him...I have a hard time praying and reading the word since we've been together.

Can anyone give me scriptural evidence that any of this is true? As far as I know...it's all deception.

To my knowledge there is no scripture to back his claims.

I know he's your boyfriend but I'm going to tell you to be very careful about listening to what he says. I see very little truth if any in what he says.

The only thing he got right was that Christ died for us. But we are still accountable for our actions regarding sin.

I don't know....if he totally disregards the teachings of Christ or the bible and is pushing his beliefs on you, you might want to ask yourself if your love for him is worth your soul.

Just a thought.

1) Jesus told people to repent and turn to the Lord.

2) He puts a lot of stock in what Paul says. Paul told us not to continue in our sinful lives. Jesus told us to repent and to sin no more. Paul told us that grace does not mean we can continue to live freely in our sins. Your friend misquotes Paul. Everything is permissable, but not everything is beneficial. In other words, he shouldnt be doing everything. If your friend continues to live in an unchanged way, still sinning freely, then what evidence is there that he is saved? The Lord said the fruits would be there.

3) Hebrews 10:25 tells us that we are not to forsake fellowship.

4) What does he define as the truth, and where is his biblical backup on it?

5) That one is a bit complicated. Nothing happens to us without the will of the Father, so the Lord does allow us to be ill. This can be from the natural consequences of the fact that the world is in a sinful state. It can be His way of correcting us, bringing us to Him. My illness last year taught me to rely on Him more.

I'm sorry, but it sounds like he is twisting things around to get what he wants.

You are accountable for all your actions.

Also, maybe you didn't "just happen" onto this site. I think you were struggling with this, and you were brought here for a reason. I know I was when I was searching for answers.

Your boyfriend's understanding of Christianity is loused up like a soup sandwich! These are ALL very, very old heresies which the Church debated and COMPLETELY REJECTED within the first three centuries Anno Domini.

Antinomianism/Libertinism is connected at least tangentially to the even earlier heresy of Gnosticism. Gnosticism believed the body is 'bad,' whereas Scripture says God called his WHOLE CREATION 'GOOD'!!!

If your boyfriend would like to discuss it further, please have him e-mail me at leonardenniss@qwest.net.

Every blessing,

Fr. Onesimus

Matthew 5

The Fulfillment of the Law

17"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

The above passage from Matthew clearly states that the Law remains and we are to try and keep them. As it is impossible to not break the Law at some time (otherwise Jesus would not have needed to die for our sins), Jesus forgives our sins when we ask him to forgive us. Verse 19-20, states that anyone who teaches that it is OK to break the Law will not have greatness in heaven and might even be refused entry.

By how you describe your boyfriend he could be in serious trouble.

The Law of God is there for our own protection. If God's Law is ignored what stops us from hurting each other. We can see from society what happens when people ignore the Law of the Land, so how much greater the suffering when society ignore God's Laws.

We must always be vary of anyone who turns us away from the truth. You say you had a strong faith before meeting this person, ask yourself, is he helping you into heaven. How did you meet him? Clearly not in a Church. Where did he get his teaching from? What is his reason for saying the things he says? Does he belong to a Christian cult? You must ask yourself these questions.

Actually, this is partially true. Sin is not imputed (Rom 5:13), but it is still proper to ask forgiveness for the sins that we do on a daily basis (1 John 1:9).

This sounds a lot like "antinomianism" which is something the gnostics believed. It is not scriptural at all. Paul says that we should not continue in sin.

Rom 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin so that grace may abound?

Rom 6:2 Let it not be! How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Whenever I dispute him on anything he says I'm living under the law....that I'm not living under the freedom I have been given. He totally disregards any scripture I give him by saying it was said while under the law...even Jesus' teachings he says that. He picks and chooses what he wants to believe.

He is deceived into thinking that freedom in Christ is license to sin:

1Pe 2:15 For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

1Pe 2:16 As free, and not using your liberty for a cloke of maliciousness, but as the servants of God.

Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

3. He doesn't believe in going to church....says that they all teach the law and sin.

Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

4.He believes that there are only a few "real" believers that know the truth.

And he's one of them, right? Well, not according to Paul, John, and Peter.

5.He believes God puts sickness on you when you disobey him....if God puts sickness on you, then why does he heal you? Wouldn't he be working against himself?

This is a tricky one. The Bible does talk about some being ill due to unbelief. But, it doesn't go so far as saying God is the source of the illness.

There are so many other things I want to write but will limit it to what I have now. I'm having a really difficult time. I used to feel so close to God...now I feel so far away from him...I have a hard time praying and reading the word since we've been together.

My advice: split apart from him. Anyone who comes between you and God is someone to avoid. God bless ya! You have a discerning heart. God's Spirit has been bringing conviction to you over these false ideas.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
