Hah! Reminds me about what I learned during my time in the US Army:

The less you know, the better off you are.

That way you can say, "It ain't me, I ain't the one!"

Blessings Brother - I wish we had those type of laws here !

I cannot tell you how much the unbearably loud music disturbs me,I actually left a church for that reason - I just could not stand it,I couldn't even hear my own thoughts.I invited people and they would not come back for that very reason - so sad.And the preacher is wonderful, such a Good Word at every service but my cracked eardrums are just too important!

My present church is also way too loud--- I just don't get it- God Can Hear our Praise and they amplify the sound to literally reach Heaven.... It's a conundrum,I'm praying about it ,,the Pastor does not seem to care when we suggest" take it down a couple of notches".... Uhhh

Greetings Kwik,

Related to this topic of “noise,” I’ve seen changes in the churches I attended as a child and early adult. From my perspective, it was common practice back in the day for some people to shout Amen, and hallelujah during church sermons. Since 2016, I have started attending church again and have visited several other churches. Everyone sits there as quietly as a church mouse, so to phrase it.

At my church today, I hear beautiful stories about some little old ladies shouting and getting excited hearing the Gospel and about our Lord and Savior. They have long since gone on to be with the Lord. In my estimation, there does not seem to be enthusiasm in the church today as there once was.

I love those old hymns, and some have a tragic and loving story behind them. On this side of Heaven, there is nothing better than listening to a sermon with the preacher on fire for the Lord.

I agree, not much better than a Rhema Word out of the " on fire" preacher!!!!I miss my Pastor of many yrs, that man was truly a Spirit Filled man of God,he passed on - look forward to seeing him again!

We still shout " Amen" & HALLELUYAH at one of the churches I attend, the other not so much but I can't help myself and some others do too lol .It's funny, when the Pastor of the " quiet" church gets an " Amen" he sometimes comments" ah,glad someone agrees" or something to that effect..... I often wonder if he's thinking" am I putting these folks to sleep"?

At both my churches I hear God's Word, the doctrine is sound, the message is Good BUT..... Has I not been part of a Spirit Lead" on fire" Gathering before I'd never had known what I'm missing

Greetings & God Bless you Dennis- good to see you Brother

Inprefer the old hymns also. I also find short worship bits from scripture put to music. There are some good old ones from back in the 70’s.

He is Lord

Create in me a clean heart

Ones like that.

I think what has happened, like in so many other aspects…is less focus on Christ and more on entertaining the assembly.

IMO….a little leaven does leaven the whole.

Again in my opinion….the word being preached works in two directions.

The proclaimer and the hearer both. Its simply not about the preacher.

A very long time ago, two sisters composed music to accompany Psalm 116, which all of us (200+) sang together in unison. They played acoustic guitars while those of us with shofars (I was one) would sound them during the refrain:

"For You have rescued my soul from death,
My eyes from tears,
And my feet from stumbling!
I shall walk before the Lord
In the land of the living!"

(verses 8 and 9)

We called this song "I Love the Lord!" We did the same with other Psalms, but Psalm 116 was my favorite one of all. :)

When I first came to the fellowship, they were gathered in the old farmhouse that particular night (I shared that elsewhere). However, we usually gathered outside under the sun or the stars of the night sky. There was never an agenda or program of any kind; we gathered together whenever the Spirit moved us to do so. Three brothers were given kudu horn shofars, which we used to call brothers and sisters from afar.

I would walk out to the hill to find my brothers waiting. Once we were ready, we would stand together and blast those shofars in unison. They could be heard for miles across the countryside.

Some of us were musicians, and most of us played multiple instruments. I was one myself and depending upon the will of the Lord --- there were times when I was called upon to stand ready with the shofar --- I would play the doumbek (also called a goblet drum) along with my brothers. I'll never forget those days. We didn't "go to church"... we are the Church. :)

Yes, the Quakers (Friends) are an interesting denomination.   I'm originally from Pennsylvania and William Penn was a Quaker.    I read that they shunned religious rituals because the rituals had become only that....a ritual, rather than having the substance of faith.

It is commendable that they were instrumental in helping slaves escape via the Underground Railroad.

Pennsylvania has a lot of religious history, right?

Yes, you could say that.

There are Amish in Pennsylvania, a type of Christian sect.   They don't believe in electricity, cars or modern conveniences.    They drive horsedrawn buggies.

Some Amish are more strict.   I was surprised that some do not have an inside bathroom/toilet!

My cousin lives in Amish country in Ohio.   A horsedrawn buggy goes by his home, he sent me a photo of it.

@Starise has Amish neighbors....he might tell you more.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
