They're still viable, especially for basic communications.

That is a good idea.  I was a long time member with a board that was closed down and about 25 of us moved over to Facebook, and we created a group so we could all keep up with each other.   That was about ten years ago, and we all post to each other every day.

A few members were on another forum which was helpful to find out what happened. I am all for a contacts page that is maybe not open to the entire GP.

I thought the sky was falling because we had internet woes at my house which were later found to need a simpler router reset. Not something that often happens here.

It certainly is possible in the future to have politically motivated shut downs. Just relishing the freedom and thankful for it.

For those who may not know my music storage site has a mail system which protects your identity if you are on soundccloud. This can be used at any time to contact me. Contacting members in other ways does not seem important until it's important.

Sure, I think it can be done over the internet now but the BBS systems of old, and FidoNet, were originally done over the telephone system using data modems and such ( think I may still have my old 300 baud acoustic modem, as was used in the original WarGames movie.  It was all done through private computers (like the old cutting edge 8o88 based PC's) that people installed BBS system software on and put them up voluntarily for use by other BBS amateurs and general adventurous PC users, Fido was a relay network that would transfer messages from one PC to another to another till it eventually reached its destination.  This was a little slow, real slow in comparison to modern e-mail, but was faster and more efficient than anything prior short of radio broadcasting.   AFIK, we (those using these systems, were the first tp punch through the Iron Curtain in the last days of the Soviet Union, managing to get through to an underground Lithuanian BBS system just as the walls were falling.

These are still very viable systems for clandestine (as i when Christians are being outlawed) communications that are not easily detected and probably no longer looked for.  Nothing that works is obsolete when it can be put to a purpose that fills a need someone has.

I agree with Kwik. The censorship of what they are calling Christian hate speech, and conservative viewpoints, is already in effect on several social media sites. It is interesting who used to own the Internet, and who now controls it, and it is not Al Gore. 😊

It is also an interesting fact, of what most of the Internet content is, (ekporneuō).

Having a plan B is a good choice.

Well knew it had to be something with the server. It wouldn't bother me. Well not on Facebook, Twitter..oops "X" or any other. On a few Christians forums and all are the same. Unless you keep on reaching out no one will reach out to you. When I did allot of debating then people praise you and give you allot of thanks and talk but not places I ever hang out. 

I think it would a good thing if it all stopped. Well would force us to take more time with Him if we were not doing that already then force us to have real fellowship one on one. Then we would spend more time in prayer.

I was briefly on an atheist site disguised to look like a religious site and met up with some cool people, but if felt all dark there to me. I ended up in discussion with some of them.

I think the powers that be would like nothing better than for us to always live in fear of something. FUD is fear, uncertainty and doubt. If the rest of the world wants to distance from God, He won't stop it, but neither will he stop them making their own demise.

I choose to live in solid certainty regardless of what the latest yik yak is. To anything I can say "so what"? NOTHING changes my standing, future and destiny. All they can do is make faces at us through the glass. Even if taken to the max by death. I have no end because of the one who saves me. Never forget who we are in Christ.
