We sometimes infer tone from the type of text people use. You are correct that science and the Bible can work together. If it is good science. The idea that these scriptures somehow prove evolution seems lost to me. I can not see anything of evolution in this.Maybe you could explain.

If carbon-14 dating proves the earth to be no more than 30,000 years old, (10,000 to be truthful) how does any of the science you speak of disagree with the Bible?

this is a false statement - carbon 14 dating does not prove the age of the earth to be young at all. in fact it has proven the age of the earth is much older, 100's millions of years -

we have dinosuar fossils aged at 100's millions of years old and it is the sedimentary rock the fossil is in that is dated also

this does not disagree with the bible - the bible is a spiritual book of truth, not one of fundamental literatural correctness - this truth is revealed only to christian moderates and religious fundamentalists claiming to be christians remain blind.

suggestion - read leviticus as quoted - you will learn that their were four legged insects (crickets, grasshoppers and locusts with four legs) in those days, now we have six legged insects...

so these six legged insects are no longer insects but have evolved into hopping mad humans called evolutionists - out of a total of about 25 known dating methods 20 state young earth whilst the other five have been incorrectly calibrated - jimc

Off the top of my head I can't think of a winged insect with just four legs.

We should remember that it was God who told the Hebrews how to keep time, how to create a calender, what to celebrate and when to celebrate and much more according to the calender God instructed them to go by. But most importantly He told them when to start time. Because after all one must have a years one first before one can count to the year 5770. Right?

Lets face facts here. If you don,t believe in the six day (as in 24 hour days creation) and the earth being only about 6000 years old. You are not abiding by scripture. Call it what you want but I will hang with what the first chosen students of God believe and they believe according to how He instructed them to believe. At least about their calender and the beginning of their time and the earth.

Genesis isn't a scientific account. It's a historical account written to Hebrews in their own language and understanding.

The words used can not and do not indicate the specific point of beginning of things.

I wasn't aware that asking how long the world existed constituted disproving God. It is true I have not read fully through this thread and there may be people specifically arguing that God could not have existed, simply questioning how long our world has existed (and how long humanity has existed within it) does not by itself question the validity of God.
