In "our" image

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, "Let us make humankind in our image, after our likeness, so they may rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move on the earth."

Who is the "our" God speaks of here? The angels in heaven?

Here is a link to the Aramaic Targum of Jonathan Ben Uzziel on the Pentateuch which was the the Hebrew written into Aramaic for the Jews returning from their Babylonian captivity who didn't speak Hebrew anymore. This was actually the first translation of the original text into another language and therefore would have been affected by the popular teaching and understanding of the texts by the aged learned.

The truth is, that is not an accurate translation, rather an interpretation of what they believed was the original intent.

Problem with translations is it is not always possible to do a word for word translation, meaning 10 words of Hebrew or Greek can be translated with 10 words of English. Sometimes certain words in another language require 2-3 words in another to attempt to properly convey the perceived original thought. That is why no scripture is subject to private interpretation, or to be interpreted by itself apart from other scripture.

I read the link, but I disagree. The "we" couldn't have been angels for they have no power to create anything. The "WE" must have been the godhead.

Then you all are saying that the Father has a physical body as did Jesus when he was in the form of the "Word".

When a person follows the Word, spreads it and believes in Him then we become an image of Him.

It is referring to the Trinity. And it may not have been a physical image but more than likely a spiritual image. None-the-less, we won't know until we get to Heaven and can see for ourselves.
