I have encountered may denominations that call themselves the Church of God. Most are pentacostal, some teach entire sancitification, and one is NOT pentacostal that is from Indiana.

This is the first one I have read about that is completely a non christian cult. Good to know soas to beware.

I can see how people could get the idea of a mother in the Godhead-we have to look at the use of personification in the scriptures-wisdom is given the attributes of a person, even though wisdom is not a person- " She standeth in the top of high places...." Proverbs 8.

The Holy Spirit is the personification of God's power, love and wisdom.

Man and woman have a distinctive resemblance to God -face, arms, fingers etc as described in the Bible.His image.

Jesus had a physical mother, but a divine father.

Jesus came to reveal the Father to mankind and His relationship and position to the Father.

The God of the Old Testament, (Jesus) the word, always appeared as a man when materializing before people.

What sound scriptural evidence is there to show the deity consisting of a woman compared to the endless scriptures that glorify the Father and Son?

 

God is a family, consisting of the Father and the Son, distinct persons, while the Holy Spirit is the power and influence of God in our natural world.

Gender is applied here by shape and form similar to the way God has described and presented Himself

There are quite a few denominations calling themselves "The Church of God." It is a Biblical term. Some are Pentecostal and some are anti-Pentecostal.

 

I know the one from Cleveland Tennessee (Pentecostal). They are good people. These folks would never refer to God as the "mother god."

Encourage her to study scripture so she will know when someone is trying to pass on false teaching.  Any group can be involved in some sort of false teaching and the only way to know the difference is by holding what is being said up to scripture.  If someone has to twist scripture like a pretzel to make it fit ... put a red flag on it.

You know, I hate to keep sounding like a broken record... (a phrase that dates me) I guess today it would be a skipping CD or a digitizing playback...

 

But we have only ourselves to thank in the Church for the wide spread far flung dung that passes for truth / doctrine / viable interpretation / religious practice... etc.

 

We never quite recovered from the Constantine hijacking of the faith that produced more humanist traditions (which the Bible says nullifies the word of God) and if you will notice, most "doctrinal" arguments or arguments as to what is "truth" or not are based almost entirely upon one humanist belief pitted against another. After all, if the Catholics believe Mary was also virgin born and is co-redemptrix with Christ, then what is to stop the United Pentecostals from demanding speaking in tongues as evidence for salvation? Baptists the necessity of water baptism for salvation... Episcopalians and gay clergy...

 

The unbiblical division between clergy and laity....

 

Once the cork is out of the bottle there is nothing to stop the contents from running all over everything...

 

How about a llama for head pastor of the congregation of animals are better off than we are gods.... ???

 

It's high time we got back to the Bible and not just what someone or some group SAYS the Bible says...

after being here for ten years now, I would say that many can read a paragraph in the Bible and not agree on what it says.....

 

So getting back to the Bible might not be the answer.    Learning Hebrew and Greek might help.

Then there would be the argument of which copies are true copies. When it comes to the flesh, one needs discernment, not knowledge.

It so strange they used the term 'mother God" ....that is so wrong!

 

Can it be that this religion is finding its's way into Canada and the States?

It must have been discussed here before? I told her not to let them in her house to explain what they teach..the mother God they talk about  is  big red flag!

 

But she could also use it as an opportunity to witness to them!

Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices. 

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end. 
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house. 

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
