Who is going to tell Joyce Meyer to stop preaching?  We have freedom of religion in this country, so anyone is free to start a ministry, whether they be in the truth, or a heretic.  I know of a prophetic ministry, where one of the leaders claims to have written Joyce Meyer personally and rebuked her for her short hair and the way she dresses.  This person had no authority to actually make her listen, so she didn't.  Even though I agree with the prophet's position about Joyce Meyer, and even though I see her as a false teacher, how could anyone expect her to listen to a rebuke like that?  He actually told her she looked like a harlot, had a Jezebel spirit, and he never claimed it was a direct word from God.

Now, lets suppose I wrote Joyce Meyer today and criticized her doctrine, and the same things this guy did.  Would she change?  I expect ministers, good or bad, receive a lot of rebukes from people that don't agree with them all the time.  If they believe they are right, they aren't going to listen.  Why should they?  If I was running an independent church, and I got letters accusing me of being a false teacher, legalistic, sexist, homophobic, whatever, I wouldn't pay it any attention.  Why should I?  Again, we have freedom of religion.

To the bigger point.  Why do others follow false teachers, or anyone for that matter?  Because they are persuaded that person is telling them the truth.  Most people don't know what is in the Bible, and they follow preachers and teachers blindly.  They believe whatever their favorite teacher says.  Sometimes a person gains a following because of their charismatic personality, as was the case in the movie "Elmer Gantry."  Sometimes they have a unique doctrine that intrigues people.  Sometimes they claim to be the only person in the truth, and people are scared to go against them.

Back to Joyce Meyer.  I do not know how her ministry is structured.  I don't know if she is acting as a Bishop, though she probably is.  If she is not, then there is no problem with her being a preacher.  I do not agree with things she teaches, like that ridiculous "try not to try" sermon.  I think she is wrong in the image she portrays.  Even so, there isn't a single preacher or teacher I know of that is perfect, and Joyce Meyer falls into the category of being better than some and worse than others.  I don't feel the need to waste my time rebuking her when I know she won't listen to me, and I feel no need to single her out when others are just as bad or worse.  I just don't watch her, don't read her books, and don't give money to her.  I believe in freedom of speech and freedom of religion, so I am not trying to stomp her out.  Let her keep on keeping on, and let people decide if they want to follow her.  It is really none of my business.  I will teach what I believe is the truth, and am satisfied to let others make up their own mind.  We all are told to work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, so it is our responsibility to get it right.

Paul never mentions a female Apostle that I am aware of.  I am going to have to challenge that Happy Feet.  Please provide scriptural support for that claim.  Also show where Priscilla "corrects people in Acts."

Pricilla and Aquilla were a husband and wife team in Acts who hosted Paul in their home and also traveled with him. They were not apostles but they taught Apollos more accurately concerning the way of God, Acts 18:26. Any woman who ministers in any way should be under the authority of her husband. All need to be open to correction.

Not even Mary the mother of Christ was an apostle. Apostles lived very hard lives, being often stoned and imprisoned.

While missionaries are "sent out ones" and may correspond to apostles, none are on par with the original 12 plus Paul who were chosen by Christ to be apostles. Not even Barnabus and Apollos were called apostles. They were evangelists and teachers.

Concerning Joyce Meyer, she seems to be another TV evangelist who flies in a private jet and owns several million dollar homes, expensive cars etc. I personally find more credibility in the people who live more humbly and who have fewer treasures on earth. I avoid preachers who preach and live in worldly prosperity.

Act 18:24  Now a Jew named Apollos, a native of Alexandria, came to Ephesus. He was an eloquent man, competent in the Scriptures.
Act 18:25  He had been instructed in the way of the Lord. And being fervent in spirit, he spoke and taught accurately the things concerning Jesus, though he knew only the baptism of John.
Act 18:26  He began to speak boldly in the synagogue, but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained to him the way of God more accurately.

A good example of knowing scripture but losing the focus of what it actually points towards perhaps? So not so much "correction", but more like Ministry.

Right, but it never says they were Apostles, and as Willamina said, it was a husband and wife team.

I think `Junias / Junia` in Rom. 16: 7 is what people reference as to a female Apostle.

Personally I believe as the Apostle Peter says, that leaders are not to `lord it over` others - male or female. Thus said I believe man`s religious organisations put people in such positions where they are the authority over others. Their authority is from an organisation. Whether they call themselves any of the 5 fold ministries, they are still operating as Peter says they should not.

The Apostle Paul also says -

`For you endure it if a man assumes control of your souls ....spends your money...if he exalts himself.....`  etc (2 Cor. 11: 20)

Sounds to me like that behaviour has been going on for a long time. It just seems that today we now give people credentials to have that behaviour over others!!!!!

The Body of Christ operates by the Holy Spirit `...every joint supplies, according to the proper workings of each individual part.` (Eph. 4: 15...) To measure the Body by man`s efforts in organisations is to not understand what Christ is doing. To measure people`s giftings also by man`s organisations is to not understand the Headship of Christ.

So that's the purpose of this thread?  Silent Women...lovely

That's quite the verse.  Really makes you wonder...'for you endure it if a man assumes control of your souls...etc....I never really stopped at that one before although

I certainly have seen and experienced it

The thing is, many of these people will say that it IS the Holy Spirit operating through them ... control exhibits another spirit...pages could be written on that subject

There are women who believe women should not serve as pastors  while  there are men who believe women can serve as preachers

Does the bible support women pastors or not  ?

If you get the call, you should answer. Even if you are a women. Obeying God's call is what we are to do.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
