Pride, separation, rejecting of admonition happen in the church all the time and it has little to do with the perception of whether a book is canon.

In fact it seems a point of pride to counsel others to reject a particular set of writings just because they are not a part of the canon, which was approved by men.

This also seems like a rejection of the word of God since Jude clearly references Enoch.

The argument that Enoch "prophesied" and the phrase, "as it was written" does not appear in Jude, so therefore Enoch never wrote a book also seems ill conceived. I'm betting Enoch did write down all his prophecies since it's was likely the prophecies were for a future fulfillment and ensuing generations would need to read and be encouraged by such words.

What if the words of Enoch were for this generation and Satan is trying to deceive the church into rejecting much needed information, encouragement, correction etc? Or are you under the impression that only the flocks needs correction and the shepherds are above such actions?

Does This

Enoch, the seventh from Adam, prophesied about them: “See, the Lord is coming with thousands upon thousands of his holy ones to judge everyone, and to convict all of them of all the ungodly acts they have committed in their ungodliness, and of all the defiant words ungodly sinners have spoken against him.” Jude 1:14-15 (NIV)

Come From Some Fellow?

For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what they have done. Matthew 16:27 (NIV)

Or Is It The Very Breath Of God?

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 2 Timothy 3:16 (NIV)

Your Choice~!

And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. Luke 4:4 (KJV)

I was not attempting to be too negative...I just prefer to have something told to me in one's own words so I do not personally read what Bo or anyone posts if it is a long post. Give me the link and Summarize for me. But, saying she reads only the Bibke is what I questioned.

The problem I have here is when you bring something like this to worthy, it is usually complicated and if you just give the short version people just fluff it off.....   but won't spend the time to really cover all the information that it takes to really understand the whole story.....   and if you don't understand the whole story it is kind of hard to accept as true.

So one has to just plod along and let people learn as they go

Did anybody read or seen the video of Enoch?

I know it is not in the Bible ..if anybody read it before please let me know what you think of it as I,m debating to watch the video online...

From what I heard and seen  so far..it is interesting ..

Years ago, I got the book of Enoch and started reading it. Holy Spirit told me to throw it away, so I did. I didn't get that deep into it to say whats in it, but I can say that the fruit from the ones who do get into the book of Enoch is not good. I've seen many people get on a prideful spiritual high, fall into some crazy false doctrines, separate themselves from the body of Christ through reading that book and taking it as scripture.

.

Thank you Joshua for your opinion about this :) Why would people get prideful after reading it, does it add to the Bible..

It does add to the bible and should not be taken as scripture. I know mormons hold it as one of their writings.

Pride and deception go hand in hand. When people believe they have special knowledge or revelation, they get prideful and because they think they have a higher revelation than others, they are not open to correction and they separate from anyone who disagrees with them. I've seen this happen many times.

Pride, separation, rejecting of admonition happen in the church all the time and it has little to do with the perception of whether a book is canon.

In fact it seems a point of pride to counsel others to reject a particular set of writings just because they are not a part of the canon, which was approved by men.

Just because a non-canonical source is cited in the Bible, it doesn't mean that the portion of that source quoted is actually "Scripture."   The human authors referenced other sources, but it was to make or reinforce a didactic point.   They were not making that source inspired Scripture.

A careful examination of Enoch demonstrates that it has many fundamental errors and even contradicts the Bible.  That disqualifies it from being a book for us that is on part with Scripture.

There is no evidence that Enoch wrote anything and if he did write anything that was supposed to be Scripture, the Lord would have preserved it and it would have a much greater ancient witness than it currently has.    The oldest copy only dates back to the 2nd century BC from Qumran.   We have no earlier copy.  It is likely a mystical Qumranic document and nothing more.  In ancient times, famous biblical characters were used as "authors"  in order to give a document weight and credibility.   It is more likely that an Essene wrote this book of "prophecy" and added Enoch's name to give the book credibility and cause interest in it.

It is more likely that Satan is using this book to get people's eyes off of the Word of God and distracting them from reading the Bible.

I take no offence, Kwiki, I just got to the point of frustration with long quoted posts that I skip over, particularly when they are requoted over and over. When you stick your nose in it is mostly to smell the fragrance of a flower is it not??

There are fragments from many copies in the dead sea scrolls showing it was prevalent. And those agree with the book in the Etheopian Bible from what I read from those studying the subject.

I don't have a problem with them not being canon, but I think I have to disagree that they are worthless and or hold no truth.

Agree , I watched a show on Enoch on "Prophecy in the news" and thought it was very interesting. Of course I would not recommend this  for new believers ,you have to know scripture and discernment for the truth, but I listen to Enoch as a history lesson. :) I thought it was a eye opener to compare the days we live in with those days when Enoch lived...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
