Grizzlies are huge.We have those little black bears around here but they do not compare.

Every legend has a little bit of truth to it. There have been sightings of this creature all over the globe, usually in hard to reach areas. It goes by big foot, yeti, satschuatch (spelling?) Etc. Chances are most sightings today are either hoaxes faked or mistaken identity. But with that said, there may have been such a creature at some point in history. May still. But its hard to say.

Most sitings are attributed to large bears.  However DNA from an abominable snowman shows it to be a relative of the polar bear, perhaps a common ancestor. Peoples imaginations go wild when they have been scared senseless.  People play on this to gain notoriety or to make a lot of money, so they construe hoaxes.

We were watching the bear below at Yellowstone talking with a Park Ranger....    I asked him jokingly why he didn't call that old bear down close and get him to stand up like this one and growl for us.

He told me the following,   "Son, when you see a picture of a bear like that it happens in only two or three ways.....   it's either in the circus where it's trained, or in the zoo where you can't see the fence or where we have stumbled across a camera while we were looking for someone missing."

The park ranger said that the bear in that bottom picture was the largest bear he had ever seen in the park.
