We have had the topic of speaking in tongues on several occasions. It tends to divide us and it makes some people very defensive because they are so passionate about it.I will stay away from this and not comment any further.

It only divides us because the whole truth is not understood.  We have to read all the story not just part of it.. We cannot take what people tell us for the truth we have to get into the Word of God and study it and know beyond a shadow of a doubt that God is never wrong and His Word and Truth do not divide it always unites and never causes confusion.

I am also believing ,.. on that Pentecost day... many people from many languages areas are gathered there..

according to Paul writing in Corinthians .. a translator is need to talk in tongues .. this is leading to show the two languages there..

I don't think tongues are need for today church.. on Pentecost day too.. those people had the different languages only..

Holy spirit made them to understand without translation.. that's all.. there is no other new language there.. or special language too..

Every mother tongue is with own Bible so we don't need with tongues..

Yes I believe in the gift of the Holy Spirit as well as all the other gifts of the Spirit that is found in the scriptures (1 Corinthians 12 & 14;  Ephesians 4).  I believe they are for today and God uses his gifted people as he see's fit to edify and uplift the body of Christ.

I think that , I don't go back to the old posts, because its good to hear it fresh, from the here and the now, this way, it keeps us on

our toes, and we can always learn something new. and keeps us looking and searching Gods word.

I believe tongues, is not used today, for it does not serve a purpose, for we all understand English, and the bible is clear.

and that it was used for the purpose of Pentecost to go out, to all the different people and languages , at that time.

what would we use it for today ? but that is just my view, God is not a God of confusion, and I do not speak it, and never heard it spoke, being filled with the spirit , does not come with a attachment of tongues or any thing else,

for we know we are filled with the spirit , when we are producing the fruits of the spirit , and that is listed in the bible, good fruit, that is, so this I have no other comment for , thank you for asking ?

Blessings SINNERSAVED

God Bless you,you seem to ask a lot of very good questions,,,,,,,,I think this is one of those questions that you are truly going to have to go to the Word of God & pray the Holy Spirit give you the Understanding that you seek because you are going to get many different answers from "people",,,,,,,,many,,,,

I believe Willa has answered most accurately & she has given you a good Scripture reference from 1 Corinthians,,,,,the Word of God does not just show us "speaking in tongues" as only one thing,,,,,,,there are actually 3 I have found,,,,there is "tongues" that were the native language of some unbelievers ,they were spoken by those that did not speak that language until the Holy Spirit emPowered them to do so,,,,Miraculously(works & wonders!!!!!).......there was/is the language of angels that no one can understand except someone(present) that is given the interpretation & then there is the language(in spirit )you are given to pray between you & God

Do I believe this is for today,,,,yes,I do but I do believe most of what we see & hear is counterfeit, imposters,,,,,,,you & I and every Spirit Filled believer must pray discernment over these things,,,,,,,,,we must ask for God to reveal the fakes from the real deal and always look that everything that is being done is done decently & in order and in accordance with His Word,,,,,,,,,,,

A person can be persuaded to speak"jibberish" by everyones influence & they are deceiving themselves,,,,,,,.,God is never out of order,,,,,,,,,,I have been to church when people speak(in turn),someone interprets or they pray (in spirit) without making a fuss & screaming & so on,,,,,,,,God does not "possess" people that they are taken over & cannot control themselves,,,,,,,,,,,,even His Word says "What would the unbeliever think?",,,,,,,,,

Read about the outpouring of the Holy Spirit in the Upper Room,,,,,the baptism of 3000 after Peters sermon,,,,,,realize that audience & why this was done,,,,,& seek Gods Wisdom              With love-in Christ,Kwik

thank you , your light really shines,

Sinner, I don't really know  if speaking in tongues is for today , for myself I rather speak in English or Dutch so I know what comes out of my mouth, I did hear before of people speaking in tongues and people who did understood the language translated it as a message which was not from God. So I am  be very careful , I heard pentecostal  preachers trying to let members speak in tongues by telling them just to open their mouth and whatever they would say would be speaking in tongues , I believe this is very wrong..

They could be real tongues but I know there is fake also..

On the other hand the Spirit understand our groanings which we can do in the Spirit when we have no words ,God can also hear our prayer when we don't have the words to pray..the Holy Spirit  knows our innermost parts and desires because He dwells in and through us..

For me to be filled with the Holy Spirit is to live through Christ  who gave me boldness to preach the gospel, that is what it is all about.

Acts 4:31

And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness

Just a thought, if some one was to talk in tongues? would they have a new revelation ,then what we already learn from the bible?

being filled with the spirit is total surrender to God and his will ,not ours, when we know its about him, then its easier to follow him, and make better decisions, for our eyes are open, and the blinders are fallen off,

but as far as the spirit groans with in us  ? and we cannot understand, it is I believe, silent, and it is not of confusion our audible  , that's what I believe, for we are washed by the word, and everyday we are cleansed, and being regenerated spiritually with in us, and tells God for us, that we are in love with him, and we want to do what we can to be pleasing in his eyes.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
