There is nothing at all good about smoking. The only responsible smoking is to stop smoking period.

 

Tigger if you quit today, your lungs wont get worse and might even have some improvement. There are plenty of stories and studies out there that show that people are healthier after they quit smoking. 

Smoking itself wont send you to hell. But if you feel its a sin, then to you it is a sin and you should stop. For the sake of your health I think you should stop too.

The number you were given is called   paO2 - that is a measurement of the oxygen saturation in your blood.  Ideally it would be 100% but for healthy people it is generally around 98-99%.   Being in the low 80's means your lungs are having a hard time keeping your O2 saturation high enough.

As long as their is breath in your body it is never too late to repent of anything.

Smoking is injuring your body and while it's important to try to stay healthy, smoking is not something that sends you to hell.   Rejection of Christ sends you to hell.

You can reverse the damage smoking causes by quite a bit, so I would do as your doctor is suggesting.  Stop smoking, let your lungs recover as much as they can.

And you can monitor this yourself  - finger tip O2 saturation devices are relatively cheap.

Gods grace knows know bounds. Yes, we should want to change, but God also knows your heart. This entire conversation means you want to change. Tigger 398 , smoking is bad for your health , and so is alcohol ,and people that needs sweets, coffee, and gambling, and addiction to drugs, to prostitution, to any and everything that keeps you in the bondage of your mind ,body and soul, even not guarding your words, that causes hate, ,your anger , having sexual relationship with anyone other then your husband or wife, adultery, murder, being homosexual, murder , serving other Gods and kneeling down to idols,and everything else under the son, so first of all lets get one thing straight, any Sin is Sin, and the WAGES of Sin is DEATH, what sin you do out side of the body is done in bondage to the world and to your self,

now what you Sin with the body is to the spirit ! with in you, and God and your self !, but jesus said if you break one of the commandments then you are guilty of all,  so if you sin no matter what it is,  ITS SIN !! ,

Now the wages of Sin is Death, death and unrepentant Sin is death ! So what is the answer. it is to pray for the power of the holy spirit to help you stop the sinning, for sinning continually ,you will not go to heaven for it is unrepentance , and you are willingly Sinning, you cannot ask for forgiveness and continue to sin, this is grieving the spirit , and all sin must be giving to God,

this is not about the man, but the will to the obedience to God, for the soul is in the balance, and the body and person will have to follow through with there own tribulations and the effects of sins followed out and what comes with the act of sinning for its effects are not completed and we must sow of what we have reaped, for all sins have there affects .and that cannot change.

this is life, now as the believer, we have a advocate and a helper the holy spirit , the Spirit is wiling but the flesh is weak ! Jesus said you have been bought with a price ,and you are no longer are your own, but you are now bond servants to Him, and so the slave is not mightier then the master, and the person needs to follow the master, it chooses, ? if it be the master and God of this world satan , or the God of salvation and of the heavens that rules and provides salvation ?

when the women came to Jesus she said that they ,the men ,were going to stone her for her acts of sexual immorality  and so when she came to Jesus, He said, He who has no sin, throw the first stone, for there is judgment to Sin, but none was able for all have sin and fallen short of the glory of God,

and when they all went away for all are sinners in the eyes of the lord,  He asked her were are your accusers, and they are gone, and for this , He tells her, I do not accuse you also GO AND SIN NO MORE !  so you need to know God, and that He is forgiving, but you must stop the sin for it is against God , and your body , the temple you are given to be Holy and for His will ,not your will..

for if we ask God and through prayer, for the strength to push through this and try not to sin, then the spirit will be and the flesh will not be satisfied, or want,  for the spirit of God with in you, and the mind renewed to seek the helper. will be the step to getting pass this,

BUT Be Warned , if you sin  the wages is Death, and no one can say its none affect to the soul or salvation, for we are to renew our selves every day, and be in obedience with God, and He alone is Holy and we are to follow as we are instructed, we cannot just live our lives and think Jesus will pick up the pieces and we don't have to do a thing about it ?,  and this is not by works I say this ,but it is by faith to good works, and to obedience of the spirit that dwells within us to make us free , and the word of God purifies us, and the blood has sanctified us, and cover us for all that we are not able to do, we are saved by grace, and not of our selves, but we must be willing and seeking Him,

if we follow Him and walk in the spirit and not of the flesh , knowing that we are working out our salvation through Him, then we will not Sin, on our own, for we will be covered and God will do His part , but we must also be responsible ,and be right , and honest with a Holy God, and we will be forgiven and we will be saved, blessings to you , seek God and be filled with the spirit .

for if you Believe in HIm    ... JESUS, then the truth shall set you free !

I get it. I know I need to stop, but I can't do it by myself. I been praying for years.

I decided to quit smoking after 20 years. Had to do it cold turkey. While I was sick one time ( I didn't smoke while I had the flu or cold), I decided that this week of "forced" quitting would be my jumping off point. That was 13 years ago, and I haven't touched one since. It is a commitment.

Smoking is not going to send you to hell, but it could get you in a grave quicker. But so can driving a car, or riding a bike, diving in a pool. God decides when it is time for him to retrieve you from your earthly body. If you wish to live in a healthier body, you should act on quitting. If you think it is a sin, you should act on quitting. if you don't quit, enjoy it.

IT TAKES NO WILL POWER AT ALL>

Although, Some people can't stop at first/ second/ third....  hundred seventeenth/ .       No worry.     Stop trying.

At the grocery store, they get 3 or 4 plastic lemons with real lemon juice inside .    They're about $1.00 each.

They may get a plastic LIME also, just for different flavor  ......

Then they Smoke just like they did before , no worries.....

Only,  BEFORE LIGHTING UP, they take ONE BIG SQUIRT OF LEMON or LIME juice.  

EVERY TIME they light up they take ONE BIG SQUIRT OF juice FIRST!

They Don't even light one cigarette unless they have the lemon or lime AND TAKE IT FIRST.

That's all.  To start, they Make sure they have enough LEMON/ LIME juice to always have one with them for 3 weeks.

It's a step toward healthy,  and it TAKES NO WILL POWER.  None at all.

Tigger it is not going to just happen - You will have to fight for it.  Have a serious conversation with yourself and convince yourself that it IS TIME to do it!  You can't be double-minded about it. addiction is not easy , I do agree and understand , but ,by not making a commitment to do so , for not understanding that your body is the temple, is what you need to focus, on, for greater is He that is in the you, then He that is in the world ,the world tempts and lures us in to all that ,is opposing to God, it takes what we know we should not do  ,and do it, we are not placing God first, , if we place God here first then you will change your actions, but with out God its impossible,

all things are possible through God, I wil not and refuse to sugar coat, this, and will tell you out of love, for you need to examine your self to see if you are being obedient to God first, and if not , then go ahead and continue to sin, letting the habit pollute your temple, for addictions are what we allow, and with God, addictions are given up to Him, and has no more bondage on the believer.

if you are not focus, and you do not realize what Jesus went through to save you ,!!! then you are setting your self up for failure, God did His Job, we are to do ours , and abide in HIm. we are crucified with christ, and if we continue to do our own lusts of the flesh , then we are not walking in the spirit ,and we are not abiding and we lie to God and our selves, and satan has got His way,

for of the Holy and righteous God, we make God weak and satan strong, through our ignorance of the flesh and our minds, we are to seek God, and be the called out ones, are you going to give satan His way , or let God do a bLessing for you ?
