Do any of you take notes IN your Bibles?

I was raised (in the 1960's - 1970's) to NOT write in the Bible, don't lay anything on top of the Bible, don't fold the pages, and don't lay it on top of anything secular.

Well, I don't believe any of that anymore, but I still can't bring myself to take notes IN the Bible.  I take copious Bible notes during private study or church services in notebooks and have many of those notes now stored on my computer.

Do any of you take notes IN your Bibles?  If so, what kind of writing utensil do you use?  Pen - pencil?  Highlighter? Do you just underline things or do you write out notes?

I get tired of carrying notebooks back and forth to church and am thinking about taking Bible notes in the Bible at church and still using my notebooks at home.

I dont write in books at all. Didnt write in my school books either. So I definitely do not write in my bible.

Actually, I write notes in it,underline things and color  sections in my Bible !

It was only 6 years ago, when God spoke to me, and I immediately took to reading scripture cover to cover, and could not sleep after reading until I took to filling notebooks by copying scripture.  Shortly after this, I would sometimes write short notes in my bible.  I grew up with the notion somehow, that a bible is to be treated with more respect than other books, never creasing a page, never setting the bible on the floor, etc.  Now I see it as paper, the treasure is in the Truth in its words!  As to your question, I find it impossible to limit myself to the small amount of room in the margins for notes, a notebook is a must.  The amazing thing, is by later reading the notes, it seems much clearer to see how the Holy Spirit was teaching!  (I don't get things right away lol)

Does Jesus care if we write notes alongside His words?

I was taught at a very young age not to write in books so I guess it just has stayed with me

I started with Ryrie NAS version in Bible College and in observance with the apparent space that I had for notes wrote so small yet legible
that when people see they are literally amazed at it... now I can barely make it out my eyes at 58! I have gone totally electronic and now
it is vast areas of comparisons, systematic theology, commentary, dictionary, maps, actual site photos etc...

I believe you should mark it and put in sticky notes, and have a note book on the side for other research and look up items, and hylight

 that's fine, its your bible and you need to use it as a study tool , not a piece of art, or handlke like glass, ?

 get into it like you are studying for a great exam, and you need to do what you need to to get all your notes together,

 and if you don't want to do that, then go to a salvation army , library store, or  a place that sells bibles,  and get one just to mark up and use for study ,

I have a new bible and I had a hard time, putting in and making my first circle, with a pen, and I did , and so its all down hill from there,

Like  Enoob,  I have gone totally electronic.

I personally use the blue letter bible, esword and biblegateway on my phone and tablet.    My pc I have biblesoft's pcBible.  I can make notes, underline and highlight along with doing searches.....   many different translations
