I actually like going. I look forward to going. I find much joy in it. But sometimes I miss a Sunday here and there.

Yes they do check to make sure we are OK and do not need prayer for something.....   I find it refreshing that they care....  but then we are all kind of close to start with.

I didn't say that, I quoted what our Pastor said in a recent sermon.

But to answer your question, it depends on what your criteria is on a better Christian, or what a better Christian is? I'm in no position to judge anything, much less anyone else's heart about our Lord, I'm the one who is going to be judged one day soon. Knowing myself and my past, I'm the least of 'better Christians' and will be judged and rewarded accordingly to my great detriment.

Personally speaking for myself, it makes ME a better Christian learning more about the Word of God, not being selfish (as I once was) with the time God has given ME to set aside to worship Him with a congregation and in church. To take advantage of like-minded fellow Christians coming together to worship, learning more of the Lord, singing praises to Him, and gaining strength one from another and comfort from one another in the faith in Jesus Christ our Lord.

The Bible is loaded with good, better and best Christians... And I'm certainly not one of them.

It absolutely makes a person a better Christian to know who God is and that is by studying His word. It also makes a person a better Christian to pray about everything in their life.By letting the Holy Spirit guide us in every breath that we take and every step that we take and knowing what God wants from us as His children. It also makes a person a better Christian to make God number one in their life over anything else on this earth. But attending a Church three times a day? What happens if a person can not attend a Church due to a number of reasons? But I am glad for those who have found the Church and the fellowship where they are happy.

It does not happen often and I am there more Sunday's then I miss. But some Sundays it does happen. Much more in the winter when it is cold then in the warmer months. And I have told them that I do much better when it is warmer.

No worries. I was just and some fuel for thought. That was all

Some people think that you are going to hell in a hand basket if you do not attend Church. That is not the case. If a person has a comfortable Church where they attend that is great but that is not the case with everyone. A person can get together with a fellow Christian and pray and share Scripture.

Matthew 18:20  For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

Well I for one am not one of those people. As a matter of fact I have to work on Sundays. Do try and make it a point to be in church when I can but there are times I am not able to be there. But I do know we need to fellowship with other believers if at all possible.

Attending a Church is not a salvation issue. As long as you study your Bible everyday and know God's word. Pray about everything and have a daily relationship with Christ. If I am not happy with the fellowship of a Church then I am better off not attending. I have another Christian who I pray with.

I hope you didn't think that I was saying it was. Attending church has nothing to do with salvation. I was just saying it is good to meet with other Christians regardless of the function. Church is only one way to be with other Christians.

Yes, the social aspect of Church is a very big advantage to many. I have not been impressed with the Christian behavior at some Churches. But that is only my take on it.

when you attend church and been there more than a few times, the brotherly and sisterly love within the body would be felt and shared.  It is part of your family and unless you like to be isolated and just attend church without participating in church things, then your sense of privacy and invasion of it would affect you.  A church family is like  that, they naturally would miss you and care about your well being and would show concern by giving you a courtesy call.  The conversation should be are you ok and would you be coming next sunday, rather than why were you not there.  Iron sharpens iron, and IMO, i would appreciate a call from my fellow believers and a friendly hi, absolutely nothing wrong in that .

Then perhaps they could benefit from your presence and encouragement! I typically attend church and church functions, more for what I can give, than for what I get! I can worship alone, I can pray alone, I can study alone, but I cannot help others alone nor have fellowship alone, and I suspect, that without a weekly offering opportunity, I might find it to easy to neglect, honoring God with my substance.

Since we are known by our love for each others, and of course do love each other if we are living a Christian life as genuinely as we can, it just makes sense that we want to be with those we love, and for a lot of people, a convenient way to do that, is through church attendance.

Of course, here, I do not mean merely going, listening to a sermon, then going home again. The early church seems to have also been about meeting together daily, and breaking bread, not gathering to here a preacher. It is not an either or propasition, it is a both and one.

To the point of the O.P. I do not know how to answer that, I guess I could miss church more often and find out (though it is hard to call me, since I do not have a phone)!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
