I think that is why God calls it "MYSTERY" Babylon. It is a play on words. While the city of Jerusalem as a great whore will be totally destroyed, and be no more  - forever, the physical city - although burned and ravaged, will be rebuilt.

Some people has suggested that the old Babylon city shall be rebuilt in Iraq just because Sadam happened to fancy himself as Nebuchadnezzar, Saddam issued currency with his picture in front of Nebuchadnezzar. Saddam spent a fortune rebuilding the ancient city of Babylon. ancient Babylon was discovered buried in the dry sand over there. The bricks were nearly perfectly preserved by the dry sand. So they excavated ancient Babylon in the last 20 or 30 years.

We have what amounts to TWO PEAS in a pod so to speak. We have the False Religious side ad the False Governance side, they have been intertwined ad standing against God since Nimrod and Semiramis. So what does chapter 17 mean ? and what does chapter 18 mean ? Too many times people jump to conclusions that do not match what God is telling us in full. Whatever these TWO entities are they both have to have the Blood of the Jewish Saints and the Christian Saints on their heads, else Go wouldn't have specified both. Thus WHATEVER/WHOEVER it is has to be on both sides of the cross. That wipes out the RCC/Vatican, NYC, the USA etc. etc. 

 

Many people say its Babylon because Rev. 17:18 says that Great City is Babylon, many say its Rome because John couldn't say Rome and he used Babylon instead, and some even say Jerusalem which ever made sense to me because Jerusalem is not going to be burned/destroyed. The problem is way too many people don't look to what the Angel is reminding John about, he points to John what HE SAW in his vision in verses 3-6 , saying that Great City which you saw.....so what did John see ?

Well he saw Four Descriptors of who the Harlot is !! That's all. Mystery {COMMA}, Babylon the Great, Mother of Harlots and abominations of the Earth. So Babylon is one of four descriptions of who she is. She was a Mystery but the Angel revealed her Mystery Religious ways, she was co-mingled with Babylon, she was the Mother of Harlots or where Harlotry {False Religion} came from, ad she is a Abomination of the earth, meaning she is not heavenly, but earthly, what can this possibly be ? Well only All False Religion matches all the details as described. It was birthed in Babylon under Nimrod and Semiramis, it was a Mystery Underground Religion they wet underground because Shem killed Nimrod, we know it was birthed in Babylon thus the Mother of ad we know False Religion is an Abomination unto God, He is a Jealous God and says so. We overcomplicate known facts, the we add in things that don't add up. False Religion has the Blood of ALL the Saints on her hands, both the Jewish Saints killed by Babylon, Egypt, Assyria and even Jewish Kings that served false gods and would not receive "Thus saith the Lord" from the Prophets, thus they killed many of the Prophets. So the Harlot is All False Religion, and the Kings and the Beast KILL HER OFF in Rev. 17:16, she is no more, there is no place for her in the Anti-Christs Kingdom, he demands to be worshiped as the ONLY GOD, thus Islam must be wiped out along with all other Religions, thus the Harlot is judged in Rev. ch. 17 by the Kings who do Gods will verse 17:17 says. 

 

Rev. 18 is the other pea in the pod so to speak or the other side of a two sided coin. The Harlot RIDES the Beast. Religion & Government. Luke chapter 4 tells us that Satan tells Jesus he will give him power over all the Kingdoms of the whole world if he will just bow down and worship him, for it is GIVEN HIM to do as he so pleases with. So Satan is the King of this world, we gave him that power when we followed him {Adam and Eve}. Jesus takes the deeds to the earth back at the 7th Vial.

So the Merchants of Rev. 18 are the men of Babylon which is code for the World under Satan's Governance. Notice the head of Gold is Babylon, but they are all Governments that seek to dominate the known world !! Babylon stands for World Governance under Satan. Its not a city, it is our world getting pelted by the Seal, Trumpet and Vial Judgments, God tells us that in verse 4, He tells the repentant Jews to Flee Babylon {come out of her} lest they partake in her coming JUDGMENT !! God also tells us in verse 2 that Satan has been cast out of Heaven and Apollyon will be released from the pit, He says Babylon {WORLD} has become a habitation of DEVILS !! Jesus/John couldn't speak about the world ending per se, Rome would have stifled such talk ad brutally murdered those Church members no doubt, bt a few Church members speaking about how Babylon will be Destroyed, when its been a dead city for ages was funny to them, but God speaks unto us in parables so the world hearing, will not understand, Amen. But we are supposed to figure these things out. Only False Governance can also have the blood of ALL the Jewish Saints and Christian Martyrs. If all men followed God and obeyed his rules or laws, then no men of God would have ever been murdered. 

So Babylon is the Whole World. The Merchants represent what is going t happen to the world's economies when JUDGMENT STARTS. Dies it fit ? Of course it does. The Four Horses represents the Anti-Christ killing 2 billion people over a 3.5 year period. All the grasses burn, 1/3 of the trees burn, 1/3 of the Sea turns to blood, 1/3 of the Sea Creatures {Fish Shrimp} die. 1/3 of the fresh drinking waters are poisoned, the sun stops giving her full light. Then comes the Three Woes, a Demon horde is released, the a 200 Million Angelic Army slays 1.5 to 2 billion more people, so that is 4 Billion dead people, that is a HUGE HIT on the economy no doubt, along with all the fire,  smoke, blood, poison etc. etc. The economy will collapse, the Merchants will cry ad lamet just as is shown in the chapter. In ONE HOUR is she destroyed, in the Kings rule ONE HOUR with the Beast, so its a 42 Month Judgment on Mankind, known as God's Wrath or the Day of the Lord.

 

Rev. 17 is the Harlot who RIDES the Gov. Beast until the Gov. Beast KILLS HER OFF. Then the Gov. Beast is Judged by God.
