should Christian influencers publicly and openly renounce their faith?

One should examine ones faith every day regardless of the celebs who leave Christ behind. I know I can always use improvement in my walk.

As much as it disappoints me that people of influence are verbal about walking away from God, I just don't think that if another person is strong in their faith that it will lead them to question it. I think it indicates a very important characteristic about God, and that is, not only are we not His puppets, but He doesn't want us to be. We have free will, and that includes the free will to fall away from the faith. I am certainly very saddened by it and pray they will return with renewed spiritual vigor.

He definitely was not born again. All who are born again will overcome.

1Jn 5:4  for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.

He may have been a professor but genuine believers keep pressing.

 

Heb 10:39  But we do not belong to those who shrink back and are destroyed, but to those who have faith and are saved.

I guarantee you could talk to him for 5 minutes and find out where his true beliefs are. Jehovah’s Witnesses claim they believe, but we know they do not truly believe according to truth. All we can do at this point is pray for the brother.

Yes, I heard a brief report on this. It's shameless, and truly sad to know someone had the unmidigated gall to make such a public announcement. What horrible thing did God do to him anyway? It may seem harsh, but I can't see how it's possible for him to have ever been saved in the first place.

Many have “ tried on” Christianity, and have rejected it as one could reject any other “ religion”. If they have renounced their faith, it is better that they do so openly and honestly then to continue leading people on thinking they are Christians. Of course it would be better if they would have stayed with the faith, but if they have to renounce it it's best that they do so honestly and openly.

I was just wondering if these two men should have just walked away from their "faith"....and kept their mouths shut.   Just get secular jobs and go about their business.   It shows alot about them, that they don't care who they hurt (Christians).

I wonder if they are married?  If so, probably their spouses are shocked.

The world gets crazier and crazier....
