We have been commanded to honor our parents. I think there is some confusion as to what this means. Now that my parents are no longer living, I would interpret this command to mean that I am to speak as well as possible about my parents.

Okay. I "think" it is ( at least in part ) commanding of me to live my life in  a manner that reflects the decent upbringing by my parents, to do honor to their sacrifices made for me that I too may sacrifice for my own offspring.

(Ephesians 6:1-3).1Children, obey your parents in the LORD, for this is right. 2"Honor your father and mother"-which is the first commandment with a promise- 3"so that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth."

To honor your parents now after they have pasted, can be done by a continued respect and holding them in there place of value.

I do believe this verse has a few meaning: the first of course is teaching children to obey and respect they're parents from child to abults. The second is that as we learn to obey and respect our earthly parents, are also being taught to obey and respect God as our heavenly father.

God bless ?

Yes. It also means to not speak dishonestly.

Parents are not perfect, neither are the children.

I studied this out years ago and came to the conclusion that it means to obey them when you’re young, respect them always, and provide for their needs when they can no longer provide for themselves.

3Jesus replied, “And why do you break the command of God for the sake of your tradition? 4For God said, ‘Honor your father and mother’ a and ‘Anyone who curses their father or mother is to be put to death.’ b 5But you say that if anyone declares that what might have been used to help their father or mother is ‘devoted to God,’ 6they are not to ‘honor their father or mother’ with it. Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. 7You hypocrites! Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you:

8“ ‘These people honor me with their lips,

but their hearts are far from me.

9They worship me in vain;

their teachings are merely hu

And the command to honor our parents is given as covenant between God and ISRAEL (Dt.4:13).

Thus, the REASON that Dt.5:16 applies to you is because you are ISRAELITE (given Dt. 4:13).

And Israelites obey ALL Torah (Mal.4:4;Jer.31:33;Heb.8:10).

So, the MANNER in which he honour our parents should be consistent with ALL Torah instructions....because ALL Torah is applicable to us.....it's all still in force.....none is yet terminated.....

Yes, we grow in faithful obedience to ALL Torah (Mt.5:19) to the extent possible in our present diaspora.  We are, after all, still in diaspora, just as we were 2000 years ago (Jas.1:1).

And, while in diaspora, there are considerable limitations upon our ability to observe.

Technically, we won't again obey 100% until AFTER we return to inherit the land promised to us (Mt.5:5;Gal.3:29;Eph.3:6;Dt.30:1-8).

So, we do what we can.....eagerly anticipating our future!

blessings...

Rom. 7:4   Therefore, my brethren, you also were amade to die bto the Law cthrough the body of Christ, so that you might be joined to another, to Him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God. 5 For while we were ain the flesh, the sinful passions, which were baroused by the Law, were at work cin 1the members of our body to bear fruit for death. 6 But now we have been areleased from the Law, having bdied to that by which we were bound, so that we serve in cnewness of dthe 1Spirit and not in oldness of the letter.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
