I have been a baptist my whole life, but GOD recently came to me and he told me my parents were hateful bigots and that I needed to convert to Catholicism, although I don't know how to go about doing this...I have never stepped foot in the Catholic church. Can somebody help me with this? How do I convert to Catholicism?

Why would you want to convert to catholicism, when it is full of false idolatry?

Why do you think your parents are full of bigotry?

In what way do you think God told you to convert to catholicism?

I am sure that some of the RCC members on Worthy could help you with this but if I were you I would do some more research because I do not think the RCC is your best choice. Maybe it was not God you were hearing. I hope you are not here to stir the pot.

The RCC... I'd advise against it. You know all the stuff about not bowing to idols? Catholics do that all the time. You know how Jesus is the way, and the ONLY way?Catholics worship the saints are rather up-in-arms about Mary, for some reason. You know how the Bible says absolutely nothing about burying a tiny statue (idol) on your property if you want it to sell better? The RCC relies on "tradition" and has far too many extra-biblical practices and beliefs.

Your parents may not be right with God but that should not motivate you to go and join a false religion.. I am an ex catholic i became a Christian when i read the Bible and i renounced the Roman catholic church..  I do not hate my mom and my siblings who are catholics but i do hate false religion which leads people into eternal destruction..

Anyway no matter if you are genuine in your question or you are just trolling and having some fun.. My advice is the same.. Seek the will of God through His Word and do not escape a pit just to fall victim of a snare..

Isaiah 24: KJV

16 "¶ From the uttermost part of the earth have we heard songs, even glory to the righteous. But I said, My leanness, my leanness, woe unto me! the treacherous dealers have dealt treacherously; yea, the treacherous dealers have dealt very treacherously. {17} Fear, and the pit, and the snare, are upon thee, O inhabitant of the earth. {18} And it shall come to pass, that he who fleeth from the noise of the fear shall fall into the pit; and he that cometh up out of the midst of the pit shall be taken in the snare: for the windows from on high are open, and the foundations of the earth do shake."

If I were so disposed, I would talk to a Catholic priest. I don't see a connection between your parents' behavior and the church you should belong to.

So let us together think that one through a little bit.    Jesus Christ, who came to this world to reach out to the most evil and hateful people of his day, who gave his life to save the lost.......

Told you that your parents are hateful bigots?   Jesus told you, that your parents are hateful bigots?

I don't know any Jesus that says stuff like that.

Quote

“For God commanded, ‘Honor your father and your mother,’ and, ‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ But you say, ‘If anyone tells his father or his mother, “What you would have gained from me is given to God,” he need not honor his father.’ So for the sake of your tradition you have made void the word of God.”

- Jesus

That's the Jesus that I know.

As to your specific question....

First, to convert to a different faith, because you have a problem with your parents is just flat out, not a good reason to convert.  Do you really think G-d will gain honor from you ditching your faith, because "My parents are hateful bigots"?

That doesn't seem likely.

Now if you are still intent on becoming a Catholic, then I would go to your nearest catholic church, and ask to talk to the priest.

Lastly, and I do not mean to dissuade you, but we had an extended relative convert to Catholicism some years ago.   It caused a lot of problems in the family, and there was a quite a bit of suffering involved.

That does not mean that you will have troubles if you become Catholic, but I think it is fair to point out that you could have some problems.   Not trying to scare you off, but fact is you could regret this later.

Good luck to you.

“How does one convert to Catholicism?”

knowledgeable opinion:  one doesn’t!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
