This is a topic I'm gaining a lot of interest in.  Went through a Sunday School class last year that covered the book of Daniel.

For those who are learned in this area … or someone whose even just read one good book on this topic … who are the top 5 to 7 teachers in this area.

I've googled and have come up with some interesting links … not to be lazy but if I can get a jump start by reading some quality teaching it will help me weed out the not so good stuff.

Would love to find a seminar on this where multiple speakers come in that may or may not have different views on it.

Thanks in advance.

Me and Hal Lindsey pretty much proved by scripture that Jesus would be back by 1988.  Did so back in the 70's.   We just don't know why he's late.   He'll be here though, sooner or later and that's really all we need to know.

I would be very cautious who I picked to study Prophecy with. I might go with Dr. David Jeremiah.

The thing I find interesting about prophecy is that parts can only be revealed as we get closer since it is sealed up until the time of the end, and only those who remain teachable by the Holy Spirit will have insight.

  • But when He, the Spirit of truth, comes, He will guide you into all the truth; for He will not speak on His own initiative, but whatever He hears, He will speak; and He will disclose to you what is to come.  John 16:13

Having said that, Matthew 24 is a good place to get an overview.  That chapter corresponds to the seals of Revelation.  May the Spirit of truth guide you.

Wow! That would be a personal decision based on one's theology and hermeneutics. Just one brief example: does one take Genesis 6: 1-5 literal as written, or does one take the line of Seth / Cain view? How does ones view determine if something is allegoric, symbolic, a type, a shadow or literal. Is the prophecy being read interpreted as chronological or is it rapidly switching in history and events? Is one amillennial, post millennial, pre-mid-post tribulation... What influence is their from being taught something growing up and over the years and the persons denomination?

I could list a dozen of my favorite scholars and teachers but, many would disagree.

Actually I would rather have different view points.  Too many people get hooked into one view point and fail to look at all the various view points.  Some view points are easy to toss out.  Others need to be thought about.  If you can understand some of the differences … then when events really start falling in place you can better prepare yourself better.  If you only know one point of view you might miss the actual events.  I'm in a learning phase - get as much information as possible.  Take that information and let the Bible interpret what someone says.

The Holy Ghost is the best Prophecy teacher. The best way to learn is to avoid Human teachers altogether and seek His guidance as you read scriptures. Human teachers will indoctrinate you into their way of thinking and they all think they are right, and everyone else wrong. That is the blessing of studying prophecy, in that it teaches us to trust in His revelation and not man's wisdom.

I have a feeling you're going to have a very difficult time finding what you are looking for.  The whole topic of Biblical eschatology is so confused in our generation, my own personal conclusion is that just about every "popular" end times prophetic teaching has significant flaws in it.

You're probably going to find the Body divided in bitter disputes over things like the pre-trib rapture, and just about  every other aspect of His redemptive plan for His creation.

In my personal opinion...this is a HUGE key to understanding what He is about to do.

Quote
But the anointing which you have received from Him abides in you, and you do not need that anyone teach you; but as the same anointing teaches you concerning all things, and is true, and is not a lie, and just as it has taught you, you will abide in Him.

The anointing that abides in us is the Holy Spirit.  And He is THE, singular and superlative Teacher.  Understand first and foremost that understanding comes by revelation, and revelation comes by relationship.  First and foremost cultivate your time with Him, learning to listen for His voice and EXPECT Him to illuminate the words He caused to be written and explain to you Himself what HE meant by them.

I don't know how long you have been born again, or how much time you've been able to spend in His Word, growing in knowledge of it.  But remember this....there is no "juniour" Holy Spirit.  If you've been born again for a day, you have within your spirit all the power and ability, knowledge and wisdom God can provide...by His indwelling Spirit.  He can speak to you, or do in you, or through you, anything He can do through the most seasoned saint who has walked with Him for decades.

One of the most precious ministries of the Holy Spirit is to reveal to us the things of Jesus.  That's a ministry He delights in :)

Quote
“I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now.  However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.  He will glorify Me, for He will take of what is Mine and declare it to you.   All things that the Father has are Mine. Therefore I said that He will take of Mine and declare it to you.

The Holy Spirit never speaks of Himself.  He delights in revealing and glorifying Jesus to us.  And some of Jesus' things, are things to come.  Revelation comes through relationship....focus on that first and always.  Grow in your intimacy with the Lord Jesus through the Teacher.  Cultivate a hearing ear.  BELIEVE Him...and His promises:

Quote
Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’

Understand His revelation is both verbal and visionary...and He WILLS to answer His children's quest for knowledge and understanding.  Believe Him, EXPECT Him to keep His Word.  He will.

You KNOW His voice.   How do I know that?  :)  Because He said so:

Quote
“And when he brings out his own sheep, he goes before them; and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice.  Yet they will by no means follow a stranger, but will flee from him, for they do not know the voice of strangers.”

Trust Him to keep His Words.  Believe His Words.  Spend time with Him, for His sake.  Cultivate your relationship with Him, spend time with Him in His Word, listening for His interpretations.  And soon enough He will begin to reveal "things to come"....because He wills...desires that you know them.

You may honestly discover that NOT knowing what men teach about prophecy is a blessing.  Sometimes a "clean slate" presented to the Spirit to write HIS teaching on is far better than having to unlearn error.

I had to unlearn  a lot of error...took three years for Him to get me through that phase.   Maybe you can avoid that :) .

Quote
knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation,  for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.

The eschaton of the second advent is deliberately obscured. This is God's choice and we should be mindful of it. The first Advent and the 'prophesies' regarding it were unclear. The apostle says that if the powers would have known, they never would have killed the Lord of Glory...

Rest assured, and look to the various 'fig trees' we are directed to observe and let evangelism be the order of the day and not endless disputes and time wasting about so-called 'prophesy'.

Safely avoid any that say they got end times figured out.. they have not. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct you path..

Obviously the Father didn't want us to know when it will all come about, for in my opinion that knowledge would not be good for us.    He told us what would happen so that when it did happen we would not loose faith.    We are not supposed to live our lives dreading the things that will happen before his return.   And we are not supposed to wish those things on the world just so he will return for much of the world will suffer terribly.  We should never wish that on anyone.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this study, I'll be focusing on Daniel and his picture of the resurrection and its connection with Yeshua (Jesus).

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
