I have often thought about this and I don't know if there is a definitive answer that applies to everyone.

I can say from personal experience I have been led, encouraged, exhorted and rebuked in dreams; and these dreams applied directly to certain time in my life.

I guess that was the way I was going to hear best, or more readily. In any case I didn't have to guess or wonder or suffer anxiety. I knew.

Just my two cents...

@Whyme

When God speaks to you, over time there will be no denial in the impressions that some call them, or the speaking to you that others call it.

God will make sure you know who is speaking if it's Him - He did me and a few others others I've spoken to about this.

I'm in agreement with Arrabon for this has been my own experience. There's no mistaking the voice of the Lord when we hear Him but this doesn't mean we can't or even won't struggle with doubt. Don't fret if you do because you're in good company. I struggled greatly myself.

Some of us hear His voice while others are moved upon by His Spirit in different ways, @Whyme. This hearkens to that crucible where God shapes us and seeing how the Lord does as He pleases, it's not up to us decide what He will or won't do. We don't make that call.

Listen for His voice. I went through this myself... there's a difference between random thoughts and the voice of His Spirit. You'll discover what it is for He will teach you. :)

@Marathoner

Jeremiah 29: 11-13, "For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. Plans for good and not evil, for a future and a hope."

God has a plan for each of us, and if we surrender our lives to Him, because He owns us, bought with a price

1 Corinthians 6:20

20 "For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's."

We will know more than just His voice, but we will come to know Him personally and and get to enjoy all that He brings to us as we grow in His glory, and His image, as we find more and more JOY under the pinions of His wings of provision and protection.

Psalm 91:4

"4 He will cover you with His pinions,
And under His wings you may take refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and wall.

I was just telling God how there were too many people to pray for and i heard a voice in my head say "pray by my Spirit". To me this referred to how Gods Spirit prays for us without words but groanings. But was this Gods way? And was it His voice? Maybe it was just a random thought? Some people have problems with random thoughts popping up in their mind. They suffer with it, and i personally dont recommend listening to voices in ones head. I listen with my heart. I believe Gods Spirit does communicate with us without words other than reminding us of scripture when needed. Anyway, what a topic, im sure its not the first time this came up or the last. What's your opinion?

If the voice tells me to do something that is scriptural and the peace of God has ruled in my heart that it is something I should do, I do it.  One time I was asking Jesus to heal my young son's foot when he was in much pain and couldn't sleep.  The voice spoke to me and told me to ask the Father.  I did and told Him that I would rather bear the pain myself than to watch him suffer so at age 4.  Father told me "That is how much I want to heal you".   I wept.

Pray with Glosolalia is to build our own faith only. We need to pray for others one by one, if too many we still hv another day.

I have found that in many cases in my life the message I got from God in verbal form was, "Don't do that" in relation t something was doing or about to attempt.   He kept me from being across the street from the Federal Building when Tim McVay blew it up.  No one who was in that lot lived over it that I am aware of.

according to the Scriptures OO it would seem you were kept from the greatest blessing .... that being with Him

Phil 1:21

21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

      Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

      This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

      You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

      Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

      I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

      For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

      2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

      So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

      Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
      Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

      Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

      As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

      Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
      Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

      So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
