how do you KNOW they are starting a mass shooting ?  Are you judge jury and executioner all in that moment Can you guarantee that you are shooting to save a life or just because you have a hero complex? Are you such a great marksperson that you KNOW you will not hurt an innocent ? What if the person you shoot was actually shooting the person who was starting a mass shootout ?  This is so not a simple question and I am so glad we dont own guns as a matter of course here in the UK

Earlier this year a senior citizen killed 11 and injured 9 at a Monterey Park, California ballroom.

When he arrived armed at a second ballroom, a young man Brandon Tsay, wrestled with the gunman and took the gun away from him.   The senior citizen fled and later committed suicide as police were closing in on him.

A lot of us were thinking Brandon Tsay was a real hero as he saved many other people that day.

People don't care about me and it is mutual.

I wouldn't care. Maybe it was people  fault. Perhaps they made that man desperate. This is what people are so often doing. People are often cleverly playing the victim in order to justify the abominable atrocities

This is so not a simple question

No it is not, once one enters the world of shooting there needs be weekly training, otherwise skills quickly degrade leaving the participant with a mindset that no longer is matched with the skill needed to stay alive in it. Plus the biggest risk is the aftermath of a successful shoot out, when the police arrive on scene and the winner is standing there with weapon in hand.

NRA has a whole series of training videos that go through these awful scenarios.

I have faced the working end of a semi auto handgun, unfortunately more than once.  Ya just never know what is coming next in life.

What if I had been open carrying a weapon myself at those times?

Thankfully God has blessed me long life, one without bullet holes in me. Nor have I shortened anyone else's life. For that I am most grateful.

First thing I'd not do is discuss on the internet ahead of time what I would do! Only a fool would do that.

You are an oversight person but I disagree with you on your reaction to his question. Seems like a legitimate question to me, and one that could be discussed without going into graphic details, and frankly, it appears that he has heard some things about America that might not be accurate. All he would know is what todays fake news would publish.

This is where training comes in. NO we don't simply 'return fire' to someone shooting, the situation has to be accessed and then action (or no action) taken based on what we see happening around us. If I see somebody shooting unarmed women and children in execution style the choice is clear . . . stop the shooter and stop the killing. IF I can take shots without harming anybody else, then I do so, IF I cannot then I am unable to help and  other action must occur.

I am interested in knowing what Patriot has to say about this subject.

The following is my rant and pet peeve of why anti-gunners have it all wrong and why an armed society is a polite society.

1 Timothy 5:8 But if any provide not for his own, and specially for those of his own house, he hath denied the faith, and is worse than an infidel.

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

In addition to the obvious (food, shelter, etc.), this also includes men protecting their wives, children, and loved ones. There is a saying in America, “you do not bring a knife to a gunfight.” We have a God-given right to protect ourselves and family.

My home self-defense pistol has sat on my nightstand for days, weeks, and years and never shot anyone. I had an attempted home invasion at 2 A.M. Fortunately, they never jimmied through the door before I reacted. Same with my butcher knife; it has never stabbed anyone. Spoons kill more people every year compared to guns. Does it make sense to ban utensils? Cars commit more homicides than guns, so why not ban them also?

Criminals and those whose hearts have waxed cold do not obey the law, thus the nomenclature criminals. Most often, in the U.S., these sickos focus on soft targets where concealed carry is prohibited and will initially meet little resistance (malls, schools, churches, night clubs).

March 5, 1836: “God Created Men, and Sam Colt Made Them Equal!” (Old West Adage).

The only way to stop a lunatic with a gun is a person with another gun. Gun control and taking away guns from law-abiding, honest citizens is not the solution; it is a detriment, infringement, and disparity of force. An infringement against protecting yourself and your family against armed criminals’ intent on doing you great bodily harm and death. Not even to mention authoritarian governments in once free and sovereign nations (i.e., the young lions of Tarshish).

Statistics show that your chances of being at the wrong place at the wrong time are more significant than ever and growing worse. In your lifetime, the chances of you getting mugged, robbed, raped, home invaded, burglarized, terrorized, assaulted, and murdered are better than ever. That is their prerogative if one willingly wants to be the sheep and victim without a fight. I avoid going to stupid places with stupid people at stupid times.

As a Handgun Carry Permit holder, what would I do if I found myself at a mass shooting scene or in an armed criminal situation? I submit the best options to protect my wife, family, or myself. Run, hide, and defend. A CCW Handgun Permit is for self-protection, not to protect others or act as law enforcement.

There is another famous saying in the gun community, “there is a Lawyer attached to every bullet that comes out of a gun.” There is a reason our American founding fathers inserted the 2nd Amendment, to protect the rest of our freedoms. There is a reason government wants to abolish our 2nd Amendment rights and impose gun confiscation. Does anyone think criminals will follow the law and turn in their guns? Or will a government not ever turn tyrannical against its citizens?

How many rights have Britain, Canada, and Australia lost in the last 20 years? Especially during this Covid fiasco with all the restrictions, mandates, and bans? I propose these countries that initiated “gun confiscation.” are now worse off for many reasons.

What would I do if I found myself in the wrong place at the wrong time? Witnessing the heart-wrenching murder(s) of innocents, I prioritize putting my loved ones first. I am not legally obligated to intervene to protect anyone’s life and limb. On the contrary, if I insert myself into the situation, more than likely, I will be vilified for my actions and legally charged if any mistakes were made in a fluid situation. Here in America, criminals have more rights than their victims.

But what about moral choices?

John 15:13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.

Are strangers I do not know or have ever met considered “my friends?”

In this question you don't simply fight criminal but trying to save innocent people.

Hi,

Sorry but I don't buy it. Least as has been shared here I see  it as the desire to be the one's in control, doing so under the guise of personal revenge with the last one standing being the victor.

"doing so under the guise of personal revenge with the last one standing being the victor"

You are wrong, Neighbor, in assuming you know what anybody will do and why they do it when a crises presents itself.

I live just a few miles from the Sutherland Springs church mass shooting which occurred on November 5, 2017, when Devin Patrick, perpetrated a mass shooting at the First Baptist Church in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Kelley killed 26 people, including an unborn child and wounded 22 others. This little town is where my great grandparents settled in the 1800's

While this was going on, one of the church members called my son who was with me at my house with friends, telling my son the events at that church  and warning others that the shooter, though shot by a responding neighbor, was headed another church to kill more victims. Myself and my son and his friends all had concealed carry licenses to carry, and practiced regularly at my home firing range in the country.

My son and friends immediately called and warned those they knew and raced off to their own churches to intercept said killer. At the time most churches, like my own,  had a pre organized plan in place should such an event occur.

For you to insinuate they were after some 'glory' and 'revenge' is insulting. They were prepared and trained for the protection of the innocent, and willing to do so at possible harm to self. Something you may not understand.

As an ex Marine, I was trained to kill and destroy, and be good at it, to save innocents and my own fellow Marines.
No glory, just serving my country like any vet.

Two years ago there was a robbery down the street from my place and the county sheriffs and DPS units were everywhere looking for them, including driving into my place describing the perpetrator, six foot tall slender long hair, on foot heading my way. The sheriff took off searching the roads and I went back to work in my shop building cabinets. Later I was walking by the door and a six foot long haired slender man just walked into my shop breathing hard. Hum. I said "que paso hombre" while I slipped my hand down around my weapon of individual destruction. And left it there. I realized later how calm God kept me

I have always practiced pulling my weapon frequently at home in unusual situations to train myself, memory muscles, and say the same prayer I resort to if/when confronting a bad guy, "Lord give me good aim like you did with David and his sling shot, help me not to harm an innocent, and if be your will, may I never have to aim this weapon at another human being"

I talked the perp into a bottle of cold water, hand still on weapon, and he said he was in trouble could I give him a ride. I told him he needed Jesus. Then I dialed my son on the cell when wasn't looking, and put it in my pocket, then we got into my truck to move up to the highway. He wanted to lay down in the back and I said no, that he may have a knife/gun, so he sat in front passenger side. Hopping my son answered the phone, I said to the pert, loudly, "So here we sit in my pickup truck by my shop, and you want me to take you to the so in so  store 3 miles away to call your girlfriend for a ride"

I hoped my son was listening to my phone in my pocket, (he was) and alerted the county sheriff, my address and truck color, and destination. I drove up to my gate at the highway, saw sheriff across the road talking to a neighbor, and was flashing my lights hoping he would see and recognize my truck's flashing lights. Traffic thinned, I pulled up to leave, and finally the sheriff came across the road next to my truck and shouted "is that him?" DUH!!!

Needless to say, the perp jumped out and fled instantly, and a dozen officers swarmed my property, and eventually my son found him hiding in his boat,  sheriff alerted, where he was arrested. Neighbor, I never pulled my weapon, and God answered my prayer, as I was totally calm, and nobody was shot. And the perp is presently in prison.

I cannot imagine anyone I know, be or man or woman, who would not do anything and everything  in their power to save the life of a child or family if within their ability. I live in Texas. I could give you Neighbor a list of hundred if not thousands of documented cases of men and women and children and elderly protecting themselves or others with a weapon.

If you saw your grand child, Neighbor, was being hurt in some way by someone banishing a weapon, I think you would pick up the first biggest stick or shovel or rock and jump right in straight at the bad guy, screaming, to get away from your loved one, and never consider the consequences.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
