  1. Over 15 years ago someone called me trying to raise the wages of people who wash dishes in cafes to $15/ an hour. I said that I only made $12/ an hour and my job required 2 years of college minimum. So to keep up they would have to raise me to $20. Everyone else would be raise commensurably which would cause run away inflation. Goods would have to cost more to cover the raise in wages. So Seattle has now raised wages to that level for food service workers and they want to impose it on the rest of the state. This will also put small independent businesses out of business. The people pushing this stuff are members of the socialist party. Free enterprise creates self respect and ambition to work hard. Communist countries often have rampant alcoholism due to the lack of self respect their system created. I know Russian immigrants who have 20 kids to get more money from the government. They quit their jobs to go on welfare here, hoping to get more money. When it didn't happen and they didn't get rich here with all their kids, they went back to Russia.
  2. Lately I have had appointments and events nearly every day of the week. Today my grandson did not come over as I was told he would. Oh well. Other people get just as busy as I do, and stuff happens to change plans. We also forget. I forgot a Dr's appt and couldn't get another till May. It happens. I got confused on the date of another and showed up a day too early. Yes they do go into my calendar. Even that gets mixed up sometimes. Sorry you were stood up. Forgive her and move on. Maybe you can ask her next time.
  3. He jumps to a lot of conclusions. Full of errors. Perhaps he used tradition for a source, since the Scriptures reveal the errors.
  4. It is because the staff is pushing woman rights and abortion, so the students are thinking for themselves by being pro life. I can't imagine Texans putting up with the anti gun stuff since they even have legal automatic weapons.
  5. Jhn 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
  6. Amen!
  7. This is being discussed among mods as well. George is the only one that can change anything. I am a watchman and was told that a person must violate the TOS to be reported. That didn't seem to include strange doctrines and those who claim to be Jesus. We are supposed to refute those and minister to the unbalanced people. The biggest problem in my eyes is that new Christians can be swayed by aberrant teaching. The second is the accusing spirit that has taken hold. Satan is the accuser of the brethren. Each of us needs to guard our own hearts and keep right with God. We need to forgive quickly. I am probably one of the people who posts platitudes. But the Word of God is the Sword of the Spirit. And I trust God to apply it to those who will receive it. I also wish we could curb those who have angry accusing spirits, or roots of bitterness. There seems to be a crusading agenda. This is especially true when people are allowed to hijack nearly every thread and insert their agenda. It turns into a rant. This has to be stopped. Some of the people are even popular because their angry accusing spirits attract others of the same ilk. Nevertheless, this is still the best forum I have encountered. Some do nothing to protect their members from vulgar horrid attacks. I have faith that God will persevere here. We all need to spend more time praying about it and remembering that our enemy is not flesh and blood.
  8. All of us have experienced unwanted thoughts. But we have to consider that the source of many of those is satan. He came to kill, steal and destroy, but Jesus came that we might have life that is fulfilling and overflowing. So all we really have to do is consider the source, and say "I don't have to listen to that". Then repeat the promises found in Scripture. Jesus combated the temptations of satan with Scripture when he was in the wilderness. Jesus called satan the father of lies. Jesus is the way, the truth and the life. His truth shall set you free from the lies of the enemy. Place yourself and your salvation in God's hands. He is more than able to keep you. God says salvation is a free gift, not of works so no one can boast about it. He also said that there are good works prepared for you to do. The enemy doesn't want you to follow Jesus in doing good works and sharing His love with others. Don't let him steal your love, joy and peace that are given you by the Holy Spirit. Usually as soon as I realize the source of the problem is the enemy, the problem often disappears. I know it is an attack and a lie, and the enemy doesn't like to be exposed by the light of God. Jas 4:7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
  9. It depends on what the cause of the mental illness is. Jesus cast out demons from many. Sin can also cause mental problems, and guilt, and to these He told that we are to confess our sin and He will cleanse us from all unrighteousness. The blood of Jesus paid for our sin and when we receive the Messiah as our Savior and our new Master, we are removed from the kingdom of darkness and placed into God's Kingdom of light. Some He healed. Today He also provides help through men and medicine. This sometimes requires our obedience. He told some to wash themselves in a river or a pool, and He spit in dirt and made mud to place in the eyes of one. These were example of medicine of their time.
  10. Yes, God the Son, the Word, pre existed with Father God in the beginning. When He was born of Mary He was named Jesus. He was crucified for our sins, was buried and arose from the dead, ascended into heaven and was given a Name above every name. He was given the glory He previously had with the Father. So the Word God became Jesus, and Jesus was returned to His original status as being with the Father. The Word created all things. Col 1:15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. Col 1:16 For by him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things were created through him and for him. Col 1:17 And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. Col 1:18 And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent. Col 1:19 For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, Col 1:20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.
  11. Go to the pastor and tell him you want to be of service. Ask if there are any people in the hospital who need someone to visit, or shut ins, or elderly in a nursing home. Be a friend to people who need a friend. Offer to take meals to people or visit new people. Even helping out in the office, being an errand person, or helping out in childrens sunday school or the toddlers.
  12. Luk 7:31 "To what then shall I compare the people of this generation, and what are they like? Luk 7:32 They are like children sitting in the marketplace and calling to one another, "'We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we sang a dirge, and you did not weep.' The Jews wanted a king who would deliver them from the Romans, so they rejected Jesus. They played their pipes but He did not dance to their tune. Is that what you have done? He didn't answer your prayer for deliverance from mental problems so you rejected Him. Perhaps God foreknew that you would not receive Christ as your Savior for the forgiveness of your sins, and as the Lord and King of your life. He may have known that you would not stay faithful to the end. God also tries our faith to see if it is genuine. But He never gives up on us. He will continue to plant seeds in your heart till you are ready to become His servant.
  13. God the Father and the Word/the Messiah Joh 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. Joh 1:2 He was in the beginning with God. Joh 1:3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. Joh 1:14 And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth. Tit 2:13 looking for the blessed hope and glorious appearing of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ, Salvation a gift by grace through faith, follows repentance and receiving Christ. Joh 1:12 But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, Joh 1:13 who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God. Act 26:18 ‘to open their eyes, in order to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and an inheritance among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.’ Act 26:19 “Therefore, King Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, Act 26:20 “but declared first to those in Damascus and in Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance. Rom 5:6 For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. Rom 5:7 For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die— Rom 5:8 but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:9 Since, therefore, we have now been justified by his blood, much more shall we be saved by him from the wrath of God. 1Co 15:1 Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, 1Co 15:2 and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. 1Co 15:3 For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 1Co 15:4 that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, 1Co 15:5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 1Co 15:6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. 1Co 15:7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 1Co 15:8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. Rom 6:22 But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 10:9 because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Rom 10:10 For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. Rom 10:11 For the Scripture says, "Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame." Eph 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, Eph 2:9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. Eph 2:10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Holy Spirit Jhn 14:16 And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Jhn 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. Jhn 15:26 But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me: Jhn 16:7 Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you. Bible 2Ti 3:15 and how from childhood you have been acquainted with the sacred writings, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 2Ti 3:16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 2Pe 1:20 knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, 2Pe 1:21 for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit.
  14. We cannot forgive in our own strength. If we are born again and belong to Him His Spirit lives in us. And He can do God's will in and through us when we can't find it in our own self to forgive. We choose to forgive, even when we don't want to and don't feel like it. Forgiving is an act of dying to self and obeying God. Christ in us loves the unlovable and forgives the unforgivable. As said, that doesn't mean we have to be stupid and set ourselves up to be hurt again. Even Paul warned the disciples about a guy who had done him much harm. 2Ti 4:14 NKJV Alexander the coppersmith did me much harm. May the Lord repay him according to his works. 2Ti 4:15 You also must beware of him, for he has greatly resisted our words.
  15. Let your light shine in a dark world. Many of us have worked in places like this. Usually if we don't act condemning and self righteous, they will come to us and ask about our beliefs, or ask for prayer. So live the life before them and love them as Christ does. "For while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." Joh 17:14 I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Joh 17:15 I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. Joh 17:16 They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. Joh 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. Joh 17:18 As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
  16. To be a true believer is requires that we humble ourselves before our Creator God and surrender our lives to Him as Savior and Lord. We must choose between being a servant of sin or a servant of God. But we can't serve God in our own strength. We need His help to be able to follow Him and do His will. So we ask Him to come into our lives to change us to be willing and able to do His will. He gives us new attitudes so that we desire to be like Jesus, as well as the power of the Holy Spirit to enable us to follow Him. Slowly our character changes to produce love, joy, peace, long-suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, meekness and self-control. That means less selfishness and more selflessness.
  17. My son and his mother in law had a button pushing contest. She was a woman's lib person so he would make comments that were blatantly red necked keep the woman barefoot and pregnant. He did it just to get a reaction but she declared war. They spent years trying to one up each other in pranks and remarks and it grew into a strange friendship. Finally she went to church with them and she said she wanted what that guy up front was talking about. So my son led her to the Lord right there in the pew.
  18. Be sure and ask what they believe about the Bible. It needs to be the "God breathed" inspired word of God. Some say it only contains God's word. Plenary verbal inspiration The word plenary means "full" or "complete". Therefore, plenary verbal inspiration asserts that God inspired the complete text(s) of the Bible, from Genesis to Revelation, including both historical and doctrinal details. The word verbal affirms the idea that inspiration extends to the very words the writers chose. For example, in Acts 1:16 the Apostle Peter says "the Holy Ghost by the mouth of David spake" (KJV). Paul calls all scripture "God-breathed" in 2 Timothy 3:16 (referring to the Old Testament). Thus, the Holy Spirit guided the writers along (cf. 2 Peter 1:20-21) while allowing their own personalities and freedom to produce the Bible we have today. This view recognizes and asserts both the human and divine element within Scripture.
  19. Pray for her as often as God puts her on your heart and you think of her. Then live the life before her. Be a friend but do not become involved with her beyond that, letting emotions get the best of you.
  20. God is so good to lift us when we really need His touch and encouragement. And there is nothing like praise and worship to lift us above our troubles and help us to see it all from His perspective. He loves us all so deeply and has foreseen it all. Praise God for blessing you.
  21. The people of the Old Testament who looked forward to the coming of their Redeemer, the Messiah, went to Abraham's bosom. These are the ones that Christ led on high, taking captivity captive. Eph 4:8 Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.
  22. Welcome to Worthy, Tatoh. We would be glad to answer any questions you might have about Scripture. Blessings, Willa
  23. Rom 6:22 ESV But now that you have been set free from sin and have become slaves of God, the fruit you get leads to sanctification and its end, eternal life. Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free GIFT of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. Rom 5:10 For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, now that we are reconciled, shall we be saved by his life. Rom 5:11 More than that, we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation. Salvation is a free gift through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus. We are right now reconciled to the Father when we receive His gift of salvation. No more works are necessary. Now all we have to do is walk in the love that He gives us for those in need. Let Jesus live in you and through you. We may see loneliness, poverty, despair, grief. Wherever we see a need and provide for it, we are seeing that person through the love of Christ. That is how we walk in the Spirit. And we are told that there is no condemnation for those who walk in the Spirit. Romans 8:1 and Galatians 5 Rom 8:1 NKJV There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. Rom 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death. Gal 5:16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. Gal 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. Gal 5:18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. I hope these verses speak to your struggles.
  24. There are great numbers of professional beggars who go from church to church asking for a hand out. Most keep a list of them that they share with other churches. They will try to verify your story. Some give to utilities or places you owe money to help out. Some give first to their own members. Most don't give cash if they suspect you might spend it on drugs or alcohol. They are more apt to give you a free meal. Some will offer you work or chores by which you can earn money. The local mission usually helps, as does the Salvation Army. Most towns have food banks that distribute free food. Once Jesus found that people were only following him to get a free meal he stopped giving out loaves and fishes.
  25. Rom 2:6 He will render to each one according to his works: Rom 2:7 to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; Rom 2:8 but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury. Rom 2:9 There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, Rom 2:10 but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. Rom 2:11 For God shows no partiality. Rom 2:12 For all who have sinned without the law will also perish without the law, and all who have sinned under the law will be judged by the law. Rom 2:13 For it is not the hearers of the law who are righteous before God, but the doers of the law who will be justified. Rom 2:14 For when Gentiles, who do not have the law, by nature do what the law requires, they are a law to themselves, even though they do not have the law. Rom 2:15 They show that the work of the law is written on their hearts, while their conscience also bears witness, and their conflicting thoughts accuse or even excuse them
