Can one have too much passion for God?

Love God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength..... Nope you can't have too much passion for God, unless your passion is for a misrepresentation of Him.

No, but you can overdo it, to the point that it is no longer real. Love should be genuine and never become an infatuation. God is to be worshipped and not put on a pedestal and idolised. We are to have a father-child relationship with God, not a master-slave relationship.

Some people go over board with their passion for God, and in many cases it's just to impress others. God is patient and some things take time.

I would say no, but your passion for God can cause you to at times do well intentioned things that aren't right.  I remember when I first got in church, how I would repeat everything I heard from the Pastor to everyone, and it would tend to turn people off to the gospel rather than lead them to God.  The last thing a sinner wants to hear is a Christian telling them how they learned everything the person was doing is sinful.  We have to use good judgment, and sometimes new Christians lack that.

When I first started walking with God again I was so overcome with how real He was in my life that I went to every Bible study and prayer group I could find in my hunger and excitement. But it was to the neglect of my children, whom I occasionly put into day cares that were not the best. I had to find balance, to give time to God first and then my family. He directed me back to them to pour His love into them and to serve Him in my home. Since my mom died around that time as well, I needed the support of other Christians desperately, and my husband was not saved. It was a very hard time.

In the Revelation God tells a church to return to its first love. I believe that means the passion we first had for Him, even though it was sometimes misguided and done much in the flesh. It was an all consuming hunger for His Presence and a need to express the new found joy.

People asked me to clarify so:  I mean excitement and joy because one is in the presence of God.  Obedient faith in response to His Word and Truth.  A love overflowing to others because of Him.  I don't mean flesh, but I mean an expression of that which God has stirred up in us. 

 

In thinking of how to define this passion, I think I may have actually answered my own question, but I'm still interested others' interpretation.

Your definition of Passion sounds a lot like what occurred before Paul was sent on his first Missionary Journey.

 

As the ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate Me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

Acts 13:2

 

Or you could say IMO if someone has such passion it would be ministering unto the Lord.  Just as the early Church did.
