Of course nothing compares to the Psalms in the KJV they are simply majestic. As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.My soul thirsteth for God, for the living God:when shall I come and appear before God?My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me,Where is thy God?When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me:for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holyday. Why art thou cast down, O my soul?and why art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God:for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts:all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me.Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song shall be with me,and my prayer unto the God of my life.I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me?why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? As with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me,Where is thy God?Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me?hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him,who is the health of my countenance, and my God.As to which one is more accurate - most agree with one another and where they don't I consult the Greek texts.I like to think that God didn't make all the Scriptures easy to understand because some of them He wants us to mine more deeply.Any way - may God bless you all, Pat Edited July 17, 2014 by Macs Son

I also like Amplified version because it gives the explanation of a word in parenthesis. My husband prefers KJV & NKJV.

Some translations seem to fit better when I am trying to explain something though. One will say Completely clean the other will say your whole body is clean. Same thing but different impact. (Exodus 16:28, NKJV) It looks like God is saying, "Moses, you are continuing to refuse to keep My commandments and My laws." But look carefully at the accurate King James: "And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws?" KJV Now we understand! It was the people, not Moses, that God was upset with. "Ye" and "you" mean more than one person. "Thee," "thou," "thy," "thine," "doeth," "hast," etc., only mean one person. How do we know? The "y" is plural. The "t" is singular. Isn't that easy? Now you know what Jesus meant when He said to Nicodemus, "Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again" (John 3:7). And then there is the therefore rule “ Anytime you see the word therefore back up 10 to 15 verses and make Sure what the therefore is for” I like the kjv, I have bought several and before I did I searched the internet for omissions in bibles, and so I kept with the kjv after some research. These rules help me read kjv.

They have 4 different translations all together on one page. I really like it because you can compare verses side by side. They come in different groups of translations. It's not as thick as you might think. I provided a link to an Amazon page search for them.
