I think I'm a prophet

I think I get words of knowledge about people but I might just be really perceptive. How can you tell?

Prophecy / profess

prophet / professor

Same root... but a world of different meaning poured into essentially the same terms.

Prophecy is not about the prophet but the message (same as a profession and a professor).

And in fact it is more about God who gives the prophecy (which is sometimes about the future, sometimes

about the present, sometimes about the past).

The prophet (the professor / messenger) is not a mystical persona to be wooed over.

Put into this light, that the prophet is nothing... a mouthpiece at best... then ask yourself

Am I a Prophet?

You'd be surprised how few want the job.

To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. 8For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by the one Spirit, to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. All these are empowered by one and the same Spirit, who apportions to each one individually as he wills. 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 (English Standard Version)

Well I know how I'm supposed to serve God. Hes shown me in dreams and visions. I just don't like calling myself a prophet. It causes problems. Its not something I wanted and it has caused me a lot of trouble. I just want to use whatever gift he's given me to help others.

If God called you to the office of a Prophet, there would be no doubt or confusion.  God only assigns those to an office He knows will fulfill the office with His will.

We are to seek the best gifts, as in 1 Corinthians 12.  Remember, "But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.", not our will.

I thought I was a prophet too, until jesus didn't come back in 88.   Either I turned out to not be a prophet or Jesus is really late.
