When we get to heaven our earthly life is behind us. We can not think about heaven in earthly terms. It is just not edifying.

Hello BeyondET and blessings to you brother.

Revelation 21:1-7 pretty much answers your question.  Vs 4 "and He shall wipe away every tear ...................the first things have passed away." Vs 5 - "And He who sits on the throne said, "Behold, I am making all things new."  And He said, "Write, for these words are faithful and true." NASB

When you get there, you will forget all about earthly things!  You will be in such awe and wonder that all you will probably do is fall on your face before our Saviour, as seeing Him will eclipse anything and everything you have ever known.  He is surrounded by such glory that you will probably not be able to speak!  And this is for every believer whom Jesus welcomes into their rest!

The music will be out of this world.  Just stay focussed on our Saviour and live for Him and He will take care of everything else.:D

I LOVE this thread and I love you guys!

First of all, it is completely good and edifying to imagine Heaven, for many reasons:

1) JESUS used the same technique with us. Of course, Heaven would be unimaginable good and better than now, but JESUS knew that when NEED to have some images to become more excited about it, that's why HE USED images like the BANQUET (Matthew 8: 10-11 and countless other verses), the WINE of the Kingdom (Lc 22: 14-20), having power and responsibilities (Luke 16:10), and so on.

2) In order to proceed with more conviction toward a goal, our brain needs some "images". This is one of the reasons why Jesus used them. Therefore, if someone has only a "vague", "abstract" image of Heaven, 99% of the times he will not be really in love with Heaven and desiring it with all his harth. And he will regret not doing things and experiencing pleasures on earth, because he will think that he will never have occasion to experience them anymore, but this is WRONG.

Therefore, dear @missmuffet, it is wrong when you say:

This observation is also true for @Jaydog1976 and whoever jumps on the train of "let's NOT think about Heaven, let's just have it as an "abstract", powerLESS, NOT exciting image in our brain".

Is it not edifying? Are the many "earthly" images that Jesus uses to help us not edifying? I'd suggest you sisters and brothers to reconsider your positions, and to BLESS this kind of thread, because there are already too many people NOT in love with Heaven, and love for Heaven is an important component of loving Christ because Heaven is His Kingdom.

Therefore, let's spread love for Heaven and let's welcome such posts that makes us think at it as the exciting place that it WILL be. Because Heaven it's gonna be exciting, with many things to do, not an "abstract beatitude".

God is a creative and active God.

A question I've been wondering is whether heaven has video games. I would think not, even though video game developers have died before and some probably went there.

It's definitely likely that with the creative powers Jesus will give us, we'll be able to create "video-game"-like things :) Just far more advanced, now on earth we are already creating "virtual reality", in the Kingdom we'll likely be able to create entire virtual "universe" and play each others "games" :) And how cool would be "videogames" created by the Lord Himself :P

I think so, that's why it's worth to spend every possible second on this earth trying to serve the Lord and helping others. So that we may look back with a smile :)

I will also want to see in "high definition" everything Jesus did and said 2 thousands years ago! It will be exciting to see what the apostles have seen.

Okay, as anyone will see as they view my profile pic, I'm a surfer. I have often wondered if surfing in the new earth will be an option. Why not? I know that the Bible says there will be no more sea, but that is in the context of there being no more earth or heaven as previously existed, yet we know there will be a new heaven and a new earth, so why not sea? After all, where will the river of life run into?

However, I am also considering that riding comets could be an option...they have a real cool wake behind them.

why not...maybe on waves 10 Kilometers tall, in some cool planet that you'll be able to visit (we are already able to move along planets with our technology, I guess eternity is long enough to create technology to travel across universes)

I think I've seen in some movies or ads poeple playing golf on clouds :)

Rap music? Speed metal? Country? Rockabilly? Classical? Baroque? Renaissance? Square dance? Fox Trot? The Limbo? ...who knows

I'd like Jesus to rap Matthew 23 for me. To leave the pharisees (both the old and the MODERN pharisees) even more speechless.

Thank you again, @BeyondET for this EDIFYING post.

As for me, in addition to all the cool things you have said, again, I'd like to watch in "high definition" Jesus life and what He did and said in the 3 years in which He saved us.

Looking forward to hear other answers, and let's SPREAD the LOVE for HEAVEN!!!

Let your Kingdom come soon, Father. Maranatha

I don't think it really is of any use trying to figure out what we will do in heaven. I do know that we will have new desires that are pure and ones that will be used to bring God glory. The worldly stuff will have passed away and everything will be new. I don't think it is beneficial to try and figure it out because we try to picture what heaven will be like based upon sinful, finite imaginations. So I would rather focus on the fact the one day we will be with Christ and we will enjoy eternity praising and worshiping our Savior and our Creator.

But no more death, so you wont be eating that fish...let it go and it'll be a flying fish until it belly flops. Vegetarians only in heaven and the new earth.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
