Matthew 6:33 reads, "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."

Just what is the kingdom of God?

One definition is found in Daniel 2:44, where it states that in the future Jesus will return and overthrow the present kingdoms of men and replace them with the Kingdom of God upon this earth, and from elsewhere this will last 1000 years. Many prophecies such as Isaiah 2:1-4 reveal the details, where Jesus sits upon the throne of David in Jerusalem, and the remnants of the nations become subject and learn God's ways. Micah 4:1-8 uses the same language and reveals that the nation of Israel will be fully restored and converted and become the first dominion in the Kingdom of God.

Kind regards Trevor

Shalom, TrevorL.

Actually, the Messiah's Kingdom is not just a mere 1,000 years. Don't forget what Gavri'el (Gabriel) told Miryam (Mary):

Luke 1:30-33 (KJV)

30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS (Greek: Ieesous, a transliteration of the Hebrew: Yeeshuwa`). 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

So, His Kingdom is a FOREVER Kingdom! Over the house of Ya`aqov, that is. Paul explained it a little better in 1 Corinthians 15:

1 Corinthians 15:20-28 (KJV)

20 But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept. 21 For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead. 22 For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive. 23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ's at his coming. 24 Then cometh the end, when he shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when he shall have put down all rule and all authority and power. 25 For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet. 26 The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death. 27 For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith, all things are put under him, it is manifest that he is excepted, which did put all things under him. 28 And when all things shall be subdued unto him, then shall the Son also himself be subject unto him that put all things under him, that God may be all in all.

So, Yeshua` shall have an EMPIRE that puts "all enemies under His feet." Then, when death is truly conquered (i.e., no one will ever die again), then He delivers up the EMPIRE to His Father, while He remains the King of "the house of Ya`aqov for ever."

Hi Berean,

The Kingdom/rule of God is over all. When the Lord puts down all authority and power then all things will come under Him and He will also subject Himself to God the Father, that God (Father, Son and Holy Spirit) will be all in all. (1 Cor. 15: 28)

Whenever you read kingdom, it helps if you read authority, rule.

Jesus is speaking to the people of Israel who have been promised that they would rule the nations of the world. Jesus is telling them to seek God`s rule, and His righteousness, & not the so called righteousness of the Pharisees. (Luke 12: 31)

As the Body of Christ we seek the Lord for Him to make us like unto Himself. Those pre-cross never had that opportunity. We are most blessed.

regards, Marilyn.

Just what is the kingdom of God?

Hello @Berean,

I hope you will not consider my response to be superfluous, for you have received some good responses already, but in the appendix of my Bible there is a helpful description which may be of use to someone.

The Kingdom (or Sovereignty) of God

1. Has God for its Ruler,
2. It is in heaven over the earth,
3. It is unlimited in its scope,
4. It is moral and spiritual in its sphere,
5. It is inclusive in its character (embracing the natural and spiritual seeds of Abraham, ‘the heavenly calling’, and the ‘Church’ of the Mystery)  hence:-
6. It is universal in its aspect:
7, It is (in its wider aspect) the subject of New Testament revelation;
8. And will be eternal in its duration.

Within the love of Christ our Saviour.

Chris

Whose will is being done?  Your will?  Something else's will?  God's will?  The Kingdom of God is where God's will is being done.  We spread the Kingdom of God by Evangelism.  God guided me to the following website: http://kingwatch.co.nz/Kingdom_of_God.htm

"God’s Kingdom is within you" also translates, "God’s Kingdom is among you”, being Jesus referring to Himself.

1 Entry into Jerusalem (x 4)

4 Crucifixion (x 9)

John 1:50 “Nathanial said to Him: Rabbi, You are the Son of God—You, are the King of Israel.” (verse 52: Genesis 28:12)

John 6:15. Jesus' Kingdom is “the Kingdom of my Father” the “Kingdom of Righteousness” and of “Light”; and “not, of this world.”

John 18:36

Ἡ βασιλεία ἡ ἐμὴ οὐκ ἔστιν ἐκ τοῦ κόσμου τούτου·

My kingdom is not of this world:

“the King of the Jews who is born” Matthew 2:1

“Gospel of Kingdom” only Matthew; 2 times before and 1 time after Entry

“children of Kingdom” only Matthew; parable before Entry

“When the Son comes in his Glory … prepare the Kingdom”

“Kingdom of heavens”-- Only Matthew 29 times, one before, and all other incidences after Entry.

Matthew 23:13 “close the Kingdom of heavens before the people”

Kingdom of My Father” Matthew 26:9 once = Luke 22:29

“Kingdom of God” Matthew x 6; Mark x 14; Luke x 33; John x 3.

My Kingdom” Luke 22:30 John 18:36.

“Your koninkryk” Luke 23:42 (Matthew 20:21)

Matthew 2:1 “the King of the Jews who is born”

Conclusion:

Any reference to the Kingdom in reality, happens in the Last Week.

All mention of the King of the Kingdom in the Last Week, as follows,

1 Entry (x 4)

2 Last Supper (x 1)

3 Trial (x 23)

4 Crucifixion (x 9)

Question and inference:

Where and when does “the Son come in his Kingdom”?

In his Last Passover of Yahweh SUFFERING AND TRIUMPH! Ever since his Resurrection from the dead the KING the RISEN CHRIST rules on his Eternal Throne in his Heavenly Kingdom "on earth as it is heaven", and the Law of Jesus' Kingdom, is, "Thy will be done; Thy Kingdom come".

Therefore:

"The First Resurrection This The Thousand Years" (Amillennialism), for the Christian is the only future expectancy relevant to the soon Return of Jesus Christ.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
