Some of our beloved hymns well meaning as they are, can sometimes contain slightly erroneous verses in them as well. It's not just the new ones especially. I wouldn't exactly refer to it as false doctrine though. If there was any worship and glory received by our Lord, is that such a bad thing?

I think each song should be taken on its own merit.  There are some contemporary songs that I refuse to sing.

We know that in the end times that deception will become so prevalent that it will even be taught by those who come in Jesus name (Matthew 24:5) so I want to identify some of those false teachings.

When a fisherman puts a cricket on a hook,  to lure the fish to be caught,  the "bait" is real. It really is a cricket.

When the false church uses "bait" to draw in people, to lure them to be 'caught', the "bait" is real.   i.e.  they could use a "true" teaching ,

but people who are lured in are caught...  (not always,  but multitudes are) ....  in a fully false system.

In another post recently , in another thread,  (several really),   someone else demonstrated this (they got caught, lured in),  by mac&*&^&*er's false gospel.  (a very common one,  widely 'approved')

When this is brought to the light,  exposed,  it is so deceptive, they(many) defend their false gospel instead of escaping it.   Some,  (a few , as written in Scripture),   are barely saved.   What happens to the rest ...... (not good).

If this thread keeps on the same course we may have to move it to the controversial forum.

Hi BeauJangles,

I agree, for we are all being lead into the fullness of truth by the Holy Spirit. And thus we need, as best we know, to `worship in spirit and truth.` (John 4: 23 & 24)

The teaching that a person can take the mark of the beast and still be saved....John MacArthur

Wow.

Do you have a quote of him saying this?

I have confronted people who believe and teach OSAS about this, and they admitted that Christians who take the mark of the beast are still saved, however I have never actually heard of John MacArthur admitting this.

The teaching of "Word faith"... Kenneth Copeland, Fred Price, Paul Crouch, Benny Hinn....Joel Oesteen, Joyce Meyers....etc

Don’t forget to add the Apostle Paul to the list.

But what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach; That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. Romans 10:8-10

  • The word is nigh thee, even in thy mouth, and in thy heart: that is, the word of faith, which we preach;

Here's a whopper... Jesus rose on Saturday, not Sunday. Due to the Laodicean Council in ~364 AD, these canons helped divorce Christians from the Jews which is against what Jesus did for us:

        Canon 29
Christians must not judaize by resting on the Sabbath, but must work on that day, rather honouring the Lord's Day; and, if they can, resting then as Christians. But if any shall be found to be judaizers, let them be anathema from Christ. (1)

        Canon 37

It is not lawful to receive portions sent from the feasts of Jews or heretics, nor to feast together with them. (1)

        Canon 38

It is not lawful to receive unleavened bread from the Jews, nor to be partakers of their impiety. (1)

As such, changing the Lord's Day (Sabbath) to Sunday totally breaking one of the commandments even though the Sabbath was created by the Father at the beginning of time.

        Exodus 20:8-10
Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: or in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

        Ephesians 2:14-15
        Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace;

Because of these new laws, "first [day] of the week" was added as a definition for sabbaton. But even in Greek, sabbaton means Saturday. Young's literal has it correct:

        Matthew 28:1
And on the eve of the sabbaths, at the dawn, toward the first of the sabbaths, came Mary the Magdalene, and the other Mary, to see the sepulchre,

What is the first of the sabbaths? The counting as commanded in Leviticus:

        Leviticus 23:15
And ye shall count unto you from the morrow after the sabbath, from the day that ye brought the sheaf of the wave offering; seven sabbaths shall be complete:

The first sabbath after the wave offering (which is the day after Passover's Sabbath) is the first of seven sabbaths to count to Pentecost.

Before 300 AD, never had Sabbaton been used for week which is εβδομάδα (evdomáda).

Strong's G4521 translate sabbaton in the following manner: sabbath day (37x), sabbath (22x), week (9x).

6 of the 9 times the translation is about the Resurrection. Once it's translated "first [day] of the week" (1 Cor 16:2) to bring your tithes, when Paul was with the apostles (Acts 20:7), and "fast twice a week" (Luke 18:12). All of which have no problem using Sabbath instead of week. The addition of μία (mia) can mean, one, first, certain, and "a". The only sole reason for the translations to be "first [day] of the week" which you'll notice that "day" is always in italic in the KJV because it's missing in the originals, is to divorce Christians from the Jews, which Jesus is one! - hmmm.

By the time the Protestant revolt occurred in 1517 AD, these beliefs were we well entrenched and unchangeable except for those that do their own homework. In other words, the whole sabbaton translation issue is very Antisemitic.

Brother please,

He is not hating all things Israel.

He is just pointing out that Jesus didn’t rise from the dead on Saturday.

He rose on the first day of the week.

Now when He rose early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom He had cast seven demons. She went and told those who had been with Him, as they mourned and wept. And when they heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they did not believe. Mark 16:9-11

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
