What do you guys think?  Especially at this time of year and even beyond it seems like Americans focus and talk so much about sports.  It's almost sickening to hear these analysts on ESPN talk about sports like they're dissecting a lung or something.  I mean it just SPORTS!!!  Contrary to common thinking, it ain't life.  Sorry, I just get so tired of people putting so much energies into these stupid stuff of this life.

There are many who worship sports and the athlete involved. Priorities must be set. It can not come before our daily relationship with God. It is only a sport.

I was tickled by what you said about ESPN. You should hear sports radio.

I credit sports with keeping me out of trouble. I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and was addicted to Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls. While other college kids were out partying, I was bonding with my brothers and watching sports and staying up all night watching ESPN. A male in my family said football helped him break his addiction from pornography, he needed to focus that energy somewhere else.

Aren’t there games or bloodsports mentioned in the Bible? I think if sports is a healthy way to bond with people and to have a healthy habit, it’s great. When you want to kill the members of the team that beat your team, then it’s an idol.

Football is something that my wife and I enjoy watching together. She knows more than I do. Her Dad was a big fan.

I took to it later in life. Just something to do. I have the Pack and the Titans to win.

Gonna bake some dry rubbed wings and have some celery and dressing...maybe later some popcorn.

Its fun---the downside is commercials. I hate commercials and quit watching half-time shows years ago.

Oh---I do like the Chantix Turkey and the Geico Woodchucks.

anything can become an idol.  Food is a blessing until gluttony enters the picture.  Then it becomes bondage.  Attitude.......receive the blessings, enjoy them, glorify Him, thank Him.  And keep Him first.....

Yes. Very rare to see a believer who becomes as passionate as a disgruntled sports fan in the face of things like anti-Christian legislature.

God inspired Paul to use sports analogies to convey His message to each  of His saints in Christ Jesus. Paul encouraged each of us to run the race as though to win it, and reminded us that not all that run finish well only one that runs a race wins it. Why he would have been great on ESPN don't ya think? He would have been a Howard Cosell of the early  Olympics is what I think.

So work hard to be competitive and win, for winning changes everything, Oh wait that  was Scott Hamilton the Christian figure skater andOlympian Gold medal winner  that said that in his book of that name, a fine testimony of His own  faith in our Lord .

My spouse loves sports especially loving and following all year long our Rays Baseball team, plus Lightning Hockey. I love that she loves it, makes gift giving easy, first row first base dugout seats at the funniest Baseball stadium in all  of major league baseball!  She participated in the grand opening of  Progressive stadium Cleveland Ohio, being on field for thegrand opening  ceremonies. I have a child that has participated in the design  of a major league stadium an has in that capacity visited most every major league baseball stadium. I have fun memories of harrasing Ted Williams from the left field general seating at Fenway, and yes he did spit at us.

My own pastor and boss of 14 years Travels to San Francisco to see his Giants and has been on field and thrown out the first ball at opening ceremonies. Hey life has it's fun! God put it there, all is not gloom doom and thou shall not do's. Do we idolize any sport or sports figure? No.

The ownership of the lightning is a great blessing in giving to the community. The Rays baseball players do so much that  is encouraging to kids at children's Hospital. Many are very bold in their sharing of the gospel of Jesus. Their kindness their teimong brings me to tearing sometimes.

Sports is good competition, plus a great training ground for childen  to learn integrity, and consequence of violating rules of honor. It also makes for opportunity for the generations to gather and root for the young. My grandson shares much from his understanding of Jesus with me during baseball games he is playing in. If it were not for the sports we each would likely be in separate places not sharing much at all.

I love sport though I never was very good at any of it, especially golf. Many a grand memory today was built around  a round of golf with associates and Christian friends, many of whom would try to share of God with me way back when  was the atheist of the group.

Yep sports has a place in my life. Thank you Lord for that bit o fun.

So ya want to fight eh?

As the old saw goes, "I went to a fighting match and  a hockey game broke out."

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
