"What does it mean to dress modestly?"

Oh I hope this does not turn into the "modestly debate. We will be here reading 50 pages of people  arguing on what is and is not consider modest and it will all end in tears with someone being offended. Then the Mods will have to step in and close the whole thing down.

Assuming that it  even happened in a church, what gives anyone the right  to put the lady's  face online in a meme to shame her for doing something you don't approve of so people can see who she is and what she did.

Welcome to the world of social media.  It means anything goes. This is the new tabloid and many people wants to  be noticed and actually don't mind being on the spotlight, for attention or whatever reason.

As for this scene presumptuously  taking place in a church, it has now become normal.   Many excuses are made for women dressing provocative.  Yeh, the morality and judging issues cards can be pulled as an objection, but God does have rules and they are in his book, which many does not even read to know what they are.

Christians can not compromise their faith. That is what it is all about.

Psalm 119:1-4

Blessed are the undefiled in the way,
Who walk in the law of the Lord!
Blessed are those who keep His testimonies,
Who seek Him with the whole heart!
They also do no iniquity;
They walk in His ways.
 You have commanded us
To keep Your precepts diligently.

No its not. They put it on a meme  and posted it online. Thats not making her knoe. That's making a public spectacle of her.

Secondly, is she saved?

Is it at a church?

Do they know anything about the woman?

Sometimes  we can  become like the pharisees  in that we get so ultra righteous we can fall into sinfulness by trying to force our concept of it in others.

Fair. But cover her face and the meme is fine.

The pic itself is not proof for those of us here looking at it, that the two women are standing inside of a church. I am also in agreement that the pic appears to be doctored, to make the one woman look even worse than she otherwise would look. The reality of such a situation is that others are NOT accountable to any of us. These two women in the pic itself are certainly not. All we can do when we see something we think is out of place is to not follow the example ourselves. Scripture tells us to not fret about what others are or are not doing.

Pride and self entitlement often tells us that judgment is okay because of who we think we are, and know better than the other person. In the heart of it is insecurity and pride that uncovers the judgment of others through our criticism, gossip, and assumptions of others. But God is not daunted by our faultfinding hearts. In fact, He corrected Samuel for judging by appearance.

Accountability is holding someone to the standard of Scripture that you know without a reasonable doubt they have broken, and it often comes with permission. Being judgmental is pinpointing, talking about, criticizing, and making assumptions about what is hidden in the heart of a person and their intentions.

It is NOT good to compare ourselves to others even if we are right. Nor is it right to force others to bend to anyone else's will. Just because a person knows what scripture says, it still does NOT give them entitlement to bash someone else who does not see things in the same way.

Those two women in the pic, do have friends, family, neighbor's and co-workers and others that they come into contact with on a daily basis, that are still able to recognize them even with the smilies over the faces.   And see on this website how folks are talking about them.  I personally think the conversation can be started without posting someone's pic for all to see.  Do understand, that this thread can be viewed by all without anyone having to log in to this site.

A woman who is a born again Christian would not wear that dress to Church. We are not to judge hypocritically but if she is showing very bad Christian judgement and showing low morals and values I would be praying for her.

Reminds me of a nice worship tune:

1 VERSE:
Just as I am, without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee
O Lamb of God, I come, I come

2 VERSE:
Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot
O Lamb of God, I come, I come

CHORUS:
I come broken to be mended
I come wounded to be healed
I come desperate to be rescued
I come empty to be filled
I come guilty to be pardoned
By the blood of Christ the Lamb
And I'm welcomed with open arms
Praise God, just as I am

3 VERSE:
Just as I am, I would be lost
But mercy and grace my freedom bought
And now to glory in Your cross
Oh Lamb of God I come, I come

CHORUS:
I come broken to be mended
I come wounded to be healed
I come desperate to be rescued
I come empty to be filled
I come guilty to be pardoned
By the blood of Christ the Lamb
And I'm welcomed with open arms
Praise God, just as I am

CHORUS:
I come broken to be mended
I come wounded to be healed
I come desperate to be rescued
I come empty to be filled
I come guilty to be pardoned
By the blood of Christ the Lamb
And I'm welcomed with open arms
Praise God, just as I am
Praise God, just as I am
Just as I am

Okay. This is a sensitive topic for me due to someone at church  years ago laughing at my cousin for wearing a dress with sneakers to church. We were in our teens and she wanted to go to church with me. She wanted to wear a dress but her dress sandals broke and all she had left was her sneakers.  So she wore them. Then some guy at church laughed at her and make fun of her wearing a dress with sneakers. My cousin got upset and refuse to go back to church until she could get new sandals. I told her to just ignore it but she was hurt and would not go back.   I will never forget that.  So even if I do see someone at church dressed in a way that makes me wonder. I never say anything about it.  You do not know. You do not know that maybe that outfit is the only thing that they had to wear that morning.  Some people need to just shut up and mind their own P's&Q's.

If.....! If for some reason you can not shut up and you feel you have to say something! Then you kindly take the person aside and talk quietly with them and with kindness. Then you offer to help them.  Take them shopping. Help them pick out an outfit. You do not judge. You do not hurt. You do not talk behind their back or make fun of them.  The World is full of unkind, uncaring people who hurt and love to make fun of others. The church needs to not be like the World, and should not treat people like the World treats them.

That is just what I think!

Yes, it's always best to be kind.   Maybe someone is a new Christian or maybe they aren't a believer yet....but the good thing is they wanted to attend a worship service!   I'm sure most will learn more as time goes on (if their attire is too revealing).

About the sneakers, I see no problem with that.... I'm sorry that guy was unkind to your cousin.   I heard an aunt of mine was scolded about wearing nail polish years ago at a Pentecostal church.    She ended up getting involved with the Armstrong cult instead for most of her life.

Modesty in dress reveals a modesty and godliness of the heart, humble attitudes that should be the desire of all women (and men) who live to please and honor God.

Oddly gotnoanswers didn't reference God's example of modesty in attire. A couple of dead animal skins.

..." she was the mother of all living. And the Lord God made for Adam and for his wife garments of skins and clothed them. Then the Lord God said, “Behold, the man has become like one of us in knowing good and evil."

It is a totally unnecessary condemnation. This is what can happen: My family was poor, and for the very first time, my mom wanted to go to a church, and so she took me along. It was a full house and the preacher was delivering his sermon. A couple of ladies noticed how poorly we were dressed and whispered insulting comments about how we looked. My mother overheard them and was infuriated. She was not shy; she stood up and shouted, right while the preacher was speaking: "Is this a sermon, or a fashion show"? She grabbed my hand and we promptly left. My mother died not knowing Christ. This whole dress code nonsense causes people to be pushed away from Christ, not be drawn toward him. Everyone of us falls short in his own way, and may even be wrestling legitimately with circumstances no one else has even a shadow of a clue about. It took me 33 years to finally enter another church!

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
