How old you might think the Earth is?

Ok.. I think MAN can be 6000 years old. The earth? Don't know. If one believes they can really tell the age of things... well my Dad use to really lol love to give the people behind us a very hard time. They were Seventh-day Adventist. My Dad had this pig skull that was solid rock. They said it was like millions of years old. So my Dad just HAD to show them lol.

How long does it take a pig skull to turn to rock? ..

The history of the Hebrew people is 6000 years old give or take a few years. That's what the old testament is, a history book of the Hebrew people.

If the star is half the mass of the sun, or 0.5 solar masses, the star does not collapse upon itself when it dies. This star transforms into a white dwarf. The process depends on its equilibrium, or when the star is done changing and there is equal gas pressure pushing out from the center to the gravity pulling atoms toward the center.

The answer to this question is very simple: the Bible is silent on this issue, and so we just don't know.  The clue is found in Genesis 1:1:: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  So when was the "beginning"?  That answer is unknown.  Then the creative days begin after the heavens and earth were already created.

It's interesting to discover exactly when the new earth theory was first introduced in history. What the early church fathers and Jew's thought and believed. With an open mind, reading the works of Scofield, G.H. Pember and the like; doing detailed Hebrew word studies exceeding Strong's dictionary. I'm not dogmatic in my view, it's not a Salvation issue, it's only a secondary issue we can agree to disagree on. But in my studies, my opinion is the overwhelming preponderance of the evidence of our written Word, is in favor of the earths existence prior to 4,004 B.C., as calculated by Ussher [a refashioning of an existing planet if you will].

Coupled with exact Hebrew word meanings and the Genesis narrative; sequence of the creation account, the things created ex nihilo and those created out of pre-existing material mold... It's my thoughts there's a "gap" of unknown time between Genesis 1:1 and 1:2? Again, I could very well have a misguided and corrupt view in my hermeneutics, and it's nothing I would strongly argue or debate on. Either way:

Genesis 1:1 (KJV) In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Usually our Pastor will tell a little joke or something to wake up the congregation and get their attention as he leads into his message. Well just last Sunday morning he commented...

You're very welcome. I've got some articles that may or may not interest you about astronomy activity and events, like planets and stars, lunar happenings, new findings and recent discoveries concerning meteors, comets and asteroids that have come into the proximity in our solar system in Controversial Issues. Some have been moved to Everything Else. Why did I post them there? Good question. The moment I start an article in General Discussions they immediately get bumped. Frustrating!
