https://www.entertainmentdaily.co.uk/lifestyle/reddit-man-asks-for-refund-buddha-statue-chinese-restaurant/

And two of my neighbours are making long dreadful enemy each other. One is a buddhist, one is a Christian. Because when the buddhist's mother passed away the christian old woman came at the funeral, pointed her finger at the coffin and said "She goes to hell".

The same thing i encountered when my mama passed away long time ago. A Christian relative did the same thing TWICE at the funeral house in two days before burial.

It took real cold blood to mock people like that instead of showing compassion.

I wouldnt even become a believer if Jesus didnt visit into my house.

I wonder what Biblical principles he believed he was practicing?

Calling oneself Christian does not make one Christian.

The way I see it.

Ok now lets see, what if the circumstances were reversed would a refund be given? If so then it's a catch 22 the individual showed

the Love of Jesus both times. How far must we allow these things to occur just because we are Christians? I know 70 X 7

it is time to stand up for whats right and not allow the money changers to rule!

And the boy's phone isn't an idol?

If I saw a Buddha displayed, after I placed an order . . . I might take the food and not ask for a refund. Pray for them, love them, maybe say, "God bless you." But there can be pagan stuff in any place, in one way or another. So, I might just take the food and say nothing, like in any other business place, maybe.

I suppose if I wanted Chinese food and I saw a Buddha in the place before I ordered, I might still get food there. I would not be bowing to the statue. And . . . possibly . . . if she said he was being "racist", she might see her Buddha thing as being an ethnic and not really a religious expression.

Also, I think a lot of Chinese food places give you fortune cookies. This could be taken to be un-Christian and pagan. So, do I stay away from a Chinese food place because they serve fortune cookies?

Now, of course, we do have Christians boycotting places where gay stuff is promoted. But this is being more pushed on people.

I would say the Buddha thing was not in order to push their religion on other people.

Hi R.H.. I can't speak to what they did but.. it wouldn't bother me at all. Well we know there is only one God.. so its really nothing. Easy now to think like this...well my wife is Chinese 1st gen her Parents come from China. At first is was Melly (Mary) no love you. Once we had our 1st child.. her mom just fell in love with him. Been around her dad allot of times yet never ever talked with him :). I will say also they are one of the most giving I have come across.

But yeah I see that big Buddha lol but.. its that light in me I want to then to see.

It's interesting to learn that in Christendom idolatry is apparently a lesser sin then being gay.

in a christens life the sin problem has been dealt with, how ever the sin consciousness remains. no highers,no lowers.

No, I don't think the man was right.   Nor the other people you mentioned yelling at funerals.

We need to remember to love our neighbors as Jesus taught us, whoever they might be.

We don't need to agree with everyone's religion or lifestyle.   But we can hopefully be a light to others as we walk with Christ in our daily lives.   And we can pray for them.

Looking at the source I wonder at the validity of the article...

But if it is valid...there's so much to dissect.

Like the dad not seeing the Buddha before he ordered. Another, is that it was there to begin with. A lot of the commenters were like he shouldn't be surprised it's a Chinese restaurant...

Well thing is china's not predominantly Buddhist. Buddhism makes up maybe 15% of the Chinese. I very rarely see Buddha's in Chinese restaurants. Buddhism is more of an india thing.

Doesn't discount it though...15% of China is still a LOT of people so seeing a Buddhist statue isn't unheard of.

And the owner calling him a racist...last I checked it's a religion not a race...

And some of the "reddit" comments cited in the article...while they do read like angry people, that's actually the biggest red flag to the accuracy of the article.

I have never, ever, seen a respectable journalist quote random people from reddit, or other social media. Especially not that many.

The article is click bait. It's like the national enquirer was back in it's day... pretty much just makes a bunch of garbage up just to see if they can get a reaction out of people. If the article was based on a true story, you can bet you won't find much of it in the article.

It's the journalism version of "trolling"

The refund thing is pretty ridiculous. Something I feel a need to point out is that the presence of a statue doesn't equate to idolatry. Some branches of Buddhism don't even present as a religion. It's more cultural than religious in a lot of cases, especially amongst American Chinese.

Yeah, it's a side effect of the internet. Just anyone can put up an article these days and a lot of it is basically clickbait. While I wouldn't necessarily say the article is wrong, the video was uploaded to a social media platform. People do all kinds of weird, crazy, and offensive things on that in the name of getting views. That includes staging incidents like this. Even if it's a legit video it's so far from the normal behavior of everyday people that it shouldn't be taken anymore seriously than Florida Man antics.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
