I agree to some degree, but God's word is specific it says a great city and not a nation.  Yes, if NYC is destroyed it would effect the US in a catastrophic way.  It would most likely cause the whole nation to collapse economically, it would also effect all nations of the world that did business with it.  I am pretty sure the world stock markets would crash as well.

He said other sheep have I  (besides you as well, that are to come) The gospel being preached in all the world is one of the signs. You cannot limit the end time to Israel alone or Jews alone by any stretch of the imagination. The Jews are a focal point of the very end and prophesy. But the whole world is involved and believers that are not Jewish are involved.

 Probably the greatest sign is the abomination of desolation that will be set up in the holy place in the end. Right now it looks like the stage is being set and is set to a large extent for many of these things to happen. That is why I can't see a lot of time available for a whole new major kingdom to be set up still.

Thanks. That makes sense though many will have a nuanced interpretation of those verses. But then again, this is why the Bible speaks of "iron sharpening iron":-)

Hi, The Summit Venture the ship that was swept into the Sunshine Skyway bridge in 1980during a fierce local storm was not a container ship. It was a bulk freighter.

The Dali which just hit the bridge at Baltimore is a comparatively small  container ship, with about one fourth the capacity of larger container ships in use today. Plus it was loaded with less than half it's capacity.

I did not say that the ship that crashed into the bridge in 1980 was a cargo ship; I said the newsman commenting on the size of the cargo ship that crashed into the bridge last week in Baltimore said that cargo ships in 1980 were 1/4 the size of cargo ships today.
