Most raptor species have that same problem. They get harassed by lots of other birds that are defending their territories. I've seen a similar picture, but it was of a red winged blackbird standing on a red tailed hawk's back in flight.

Are they harassing them or are they just going for a free ride?

They smaller birds try to defend their territory especially if they have a nest nearby. They don't want the raptors anywhere near their nest, so they'll do stuff like that to try and run them off.

Interesting. Thanks for educating me on that walla   :mgcheerful:

this is not an uncommon thing where eagles and crows/ravens live together...      and I think I can be pretty sure of truthfulness when I say that this did not last very long...      it is not common to have a camera ready to capture it  LoL

When I take pictures of this nature I have the shutter set on auto and push the button and it takes three pictures a second till you let the button up.   With the shutter timing set to 4,000th of a second, you get stop action like you wouldn't believe.

So the crow could have been there for as little as a third of a second and the picture would look like this.

Example...

IMG_9903_zpse579ec97.jpg

this is one of my favorite pictures and it looks like I spent a good amount of time setting up for the shot.......    truth is that we were out on that boat for over two hours in the cold rain and the excursion people were getting ready to refund our money for not seeing any whales.    I was standing there with the camera about chest level when the nose broke the surface of the water and I hit the shutter button and just held it down as I brought the camera up to my eye.....    the first thing I saw in the viewfinder was the huge splash of it hitting the water.......    but all the practice I have had in point and shoot paid off for one of the ten pictures it took while bringing the camera up was this one...

So I got to see it live and have a picture too.

We see this all the time up here in the mountains, with both raptors and ravens being harassed by smaller birds. Reminds me of fighter planes flying around and attacking heavy bombers. Interesting to watch the evasion tactics of the bigger birds.

Coming into town today I did see 10 raptors within 10 miles, which is a record. Was wondering if that had prophetic significance, seeing as how we believe this area will be a part of the gathering.

Luke 17:37 Wheresoever the body [Gr. soma] is, thither will the eagles be gathered together.

Rev. 12:14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent.

Ex. 19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself.

I became curious about the symbolism re Christian art....the raven ( there is no crow) which devours the brain and eyes of the dead, was selected as a symbol of the devil who like the raven throws the soul into darkness and invades the intelligence and is gratified by corruption.

Not saying this a symbol of what was seen but a curious analogy.

I think it's a common thing. A few years a go I saw a large bird flying and next to it was a smaller bird, actually I think it was a crow flying near it.

Grace to you,

Here's a link from Snopes. The event did in fact happen and isn't photoshopped;

http://m.snopes.com/crow-rides-eagle/

Pictures of a Crow riding on the back of an American Bald Eagle. According to naturalists it's a common occurrence that Eagles are harassed by smaller birds.

Any prophetic significance here? Maybe it's just a common occurrence?

Peace,

Dave

Biblically, as well as in secular belief systems, the crow is considered to be the harbinger of death.

There are several reasons for this all of which are terribly boring to review.  Generally though the bird is considered to be representative of evil tidings.

A crow riding the back of the national bird would therefore signify a harbinger of national death.

I don't think it will come as a shock to anyone that there is a general expectation of disaster in the wind.  Disaster for America, that is.

I believed for a long time that it could be averted, but nobody seems to be interested in that at all.  Better men than I have been saying that we've passed the point of no return.

A lot of Christians seem to think that they'll be excused from judgment.  Either the rapture will happen or God will 'pass over us'.   I used to believe that too, but not any more.

Something happened in Charleston, my old haunt in younger days, that convinced me we are not exempt.  I think those folks were blessed, by the way.   They got to leave school early and are happy with the Lord now.  Their eyes will not see what is coming upon us and our children.

But we will.

The common retort is that God is in control.   Don't worry.  Be happy.   That was a cute song by the way, but it won't be cute when people start dying like flies.   A lot of them and a lot of us will be very confused and angry at God.   After a while, though, if some of us are still around - we'll realize that we'd forgotten why and how we got saved in the first place.

And we'll realize, some of us anyway, that God was right to do to us what He did................what He's going to do.

It just makes me very sad to think about it - crows or no crows.  It will happen and I wish I had lived in another time and didn't have to watch, that's all.

IF GOD DOES NOT JUDGE AMERICA, HE WILL HAVE TO APOLOGIZE TO SODOM AND GOMORRAH.

and that's me, hollering from the choir loft...

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Daniel: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 3

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
