Most people wear fragrances when they dress up.  These trigger severe asthma in me so that I must leave the service, and often I am sick for several days thereafter.  So I would not attend a church where people dress more formally unless it was mandated that fragrances not be worn.  I cannot attend churches that have air fresheners in the wash rooms, either, and have left 2 churches primarily for that reason.

I"m one of those who wear jeans, a nice top, I mean like a pretty blouse.  My jeans are neat, clean and sometimes even pressed with a crease down the front.  my hair is fixed and my make up is on.  As for the fragrances Willa I don't wear any perfume to church for that very reason, people may have allergies.  I don't have a problem with people wearing jeans in church.  I do draw the line when I see men in baggy shorts with tank tops on.  It all depends on how you feel.  When I go to church my focus in on my Father and not on what people wear.  I feel I can wear jeans and still look nice and still still worship in spirit and in truth.  How ever if all of a sudden their was a dress code put into effect, it would make me wonder what else they would want to change.  I just don't know.  I do know I"m very uncomfortable in dressy apparel.  It's just not me.  I did know of a church and I knew the pastor.  He was the son in law of a couple I loved very much.  I met him one day after his wife Rita had passed away.  I saw him in Walmart.  He asked I I might like to visit his church I said sure.  I told him too that I would most likely show up in a pant suit.  He said he liked the women in his church to dress up with hats and all that.  Needless to say I never went.  A very fine man but not a church that is more interested in what people wear then where their heart is.

I think that jeans and a modest and appropriate top would be acceptable. It is those who look down their nose at that who might need to pray about their judgment and critical attitude. Strong scents give me a headache.

I would not leave a church because of a dress code but I would question the reason for one.  I wear slacks with a nice blouse and blazer or a casual suit with a nice top underneath and, yes, I have worn dress jeans and a top.  I'm only concerned about dress if a person comes in showing too much skin as in shorts, halters and tank tops.  And yes, I have seen low cut and short outfits that are more appropriate for a bar or club.  That's just disrespectful to the Lord.

This is mainly an American thing I think ,as jeans until recently would never have been worn by people in Europe except as working ,I mean under the car , in the factory, on the farm etc.  I loathe them myself . No I would not go to a Church where people were too lazy to make a small effort  when it is feasable ,to look clean neat and as if they cared .

But then that's normal here .

Good point, and very basic.

I wonder how John the Baptist felt when he met Jesus?  Would you recommend that one of the pharisees should have given John one of their fancy robes?  I grew up attending a Baptist church.  Suits, ties, etc.  Give your best for the Lord.  Yup.  Dad didn't have a suit.  I've never owned a suit.   I've felt remorse for a lot of things, but wearing blue jeans to church never has been one of them.  I could go buy a new suit tomorrow if I though Jesus wanted me too.  Do you think I'm wrong and He really does care about my clothes more than my heart?  I wonder how many people would avoid John the Baptist if he were alive today.

John the Baptist was outside the norm, living in the desert and displaying the spirit and power of Elijah.  But Christ and his apostles would have maintained suitable clothing when visiting the synagogues.

As long as the Pastor speaks a good word from God I would stay, as i don't have any strong opinions in this area and can see both viewpoints...I would even stay if they handed out robes to be worn by the congregation, maybe that would solve the issue..Praise the Lord it is All about Him!!!

Ok.  I view blue jeans as "suitable".

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
