That is just what He did, He created everything out of absolutely nothing.  Just speaking it into existence.

Many creation legends in different ancient cultures, provide the idea that God creates by "that which proceeds" from God. But specifically "that which proceeds from His mouth."

The Bible gives the right answer to this concept, so we can forget the pagan ideas. The Lord creates by His breath, His Word.

The Lord is life and so is His breath. The Word of God is also living, and it contains the thoughts of God, in a living sense and not just representationally. The Word produces what the Lord thinks and desires to exist. It is everlasting, life itself, wisdom, intelligence, guidance, protection, it is the cause of all realities in creation, and it has all the attributes of the Lord's great Character. It does not matter whether the Lord speaks a single word or a sentence, every breath of God produces eternal living results.

The believer is required to trust and have faith in the spoken Word of God, because it cannot lie or fail. Even the written word of God, the Bible is as sacred and dangerous as the breath of God to the sinner. To tamper, change, misuse, mistranslate and disbelieve the Bible is a sin that God will not forget. The Word of God is as sacred as His name.

While the Word is able to create and maintain creation forever, it is also able to reserve the unjust for destruction, and is able to destroy and recreate any creation, such as the earth.

Well, we don't have words to describe what God made all things out of......    so I'll just describe it as best can be said.    He made it all out of three big old huge piles of stuff.

The word breathed is simply an anthropomorphism.   It is describing something God did using descriptive terms we can understand and have a point of reference for.   God is a spirit.  He does not have lungs or a cardiovascular system, so he doesn't "breathe"  they way think of it.  God imparted a spirit in Adam and that is all that is meant by it.

The Wind

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting.  Acts 2:2

And

And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost: John 20:22

Our LORD

Then said he unto me, Prophesy unto the wind, prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood up upon their feet, an exceeding great army. Then he said unto me, Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel: behold, they say, Our bones are dried, and our hope is lost: we are cut off for our parts. Ezekiel 37:9-14

Imagine the words God spoke were like letters coming out of His mouth, and those letters became whatsoever God willed them to become, water, trees, rocks, planets, angels etc etc .. and the Word is Spirit .. so everything created consists and comes from those "letters" which are Spirit materialized/expressed in the material and spiritual planes .. Like what William said, God created everything out of Himself, out of His inner Spirit.

Psalms 33:6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

The "breath" represents the Spirit coming forth from within Him, and IN His Spirit is LIFE .. and that which is within Him can come forth and obey Him in any "expression" God so desires it be .. be those "expressions" material or spiritual.

I believe God created everything from Himself - Spirit - life in varying degrees. He upholds everything & sustains it. Matter is made of building blocks, as it were, & the bottom line is what energises it - the Spirit - life of God.

`For by Him all things were created that are in heaven & that are on the earth, visible & invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers, (rulership). All things were created through Him & for Him. And He is before all things, & in Him all things consist.` (Col. 1: 16 & 17)

Marilyn.

PS. Just read your post (after I did mine) Serving & thought it was good. We are thinking similar.

Scripture clearly teaches that God has a heart (Gen. 6:6; 8:21); so we can assume His heart pumps blood!, He also has hands and fingers (Exod. 31:18; Psalms 8:3-6; Rev. 5:1, 6-7); Nostrils, (Ps. 18:8); mouth (Num. 12:8); lips and tongue (Isa. 30:27; feet (Ezek. 1:27; Exodus 24:10); eyes, eyelids, sight (Ps. 11:4; 18:24; 33:18); voice (Ps. 29; Rev. 10:3-4; Gen. 1); breath so He does breathe (Gen. 2:70); ears (Ps. 18:6); head, hair, face, arms (Dan. 7:9-14; 10:5-19; Rev. 5:1; loins (Ezek. 1:26:28; 8:1-4); bodily presence (Gen. 3:8; 18:1-22; Job 1:6-12; 2:1-7; Exodus 24:10-11); and many other bodily parts as required by Him to be a person with a body.

Your denying all these Scriptures or twisting them to mean nothing. The only difference between a spirit and a mortal being is substance.

As it has been mentioned, those are anthropomorphism, note meant to be taken literal.  Not unlike Isa 66:1 where God calls earth His footstool.  God does not really have feet and they are not really resting on the earth.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
