Looking at how hot the modesty debate has gotten. A particular  issue kept popping up which had me wondering. So tell me what u think of this  related situation

Personally I believe that the real issue is that that lady needs befriending, by a woman, and helped in her walk with the Lord. As she comes closer to the Lord the Holy Spirit will convict her and teach her to dress appropriately.

I have participated in the modesty thread but haven't been back much since I posted there the first time. I don't know how it could become a heated debate issue. If it has come to that. Because our attire as believers isn't going to be decided as a matter of consensus. I think it is rather a matter of a reflection on our consciousness with The Word that is God. Not so much what we believe when we read what God expects in our wardrobe closet to be fitting.

If there are really dress codes, I would think anyone could tell her... after the first time I would wonder why she went back....  I'm with LadyKay

Your thread title is Postmodernism in a nutshell, "Postmodernism, everyone has their prespective, everyone's prespective is right, everyone's perspective is wrong, everyone is right, everyone is wrong." This is antithesis and antithetical to what we Christians believe which is absolutism, there is right way and wrong way, God and the devil, good and evil, the Gospel and Damnation. As Christians we believe in absolutes, "Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one can come to the Father except through me," (John 14:6), "I am the gate. If anyone enters through Me, he will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture," (John 10:9), "For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day," (John 6:40), "then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. 1Jesus is the stone you builders rejected which has become the cornerstone,  Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved," (Acts 4:10-12), "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God," (John 3:16-19), "Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire," (Revelation 20:15), "46 If the master returns and finds that the servant has done a good job, there will be a reward. 47 I tell you the truth, the master will put that servant in charge of all he owns. 48 But what if the servant is evil and thinks, ‘My master won’t be back for a while,’ 49 and he begins beating the other servants, partying, and getting drunk? 50 The master will return unannounced and unexpected, 51 and he will cut the servant to pieces and assign him a place with the hypocrites. In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth," (Matthew 24:46-51), and "When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, then he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 Before him will be gathered all the nations, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 And he will place the sheep on his right, but the goats on the left. 34 Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, 36 I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.’ 37 Then the righteous will answer him, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? 38 And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? 39 And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’ 40 And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers,[a] you did it to me.’41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me no food, I was thirsty and you gave me no drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison and you did not visit me.’ 44 Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ 45 Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ 46 And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.” (Matthew 25:31-46).

Answer Jesus is Right because He's God (Colossians 2:9, Titus 2:13, John 1:3, John 10:30, John 17:20-23, Colossians 1:16, Colossians 1:18), and Scripture is Right because its God Breathed (1 Timothy 3:16).

Judy's been going there for 5 yrs & wears a dress that barely covers her ovaries?   LOL!   Something in that Church is not workin to well.

Hi Davida,

My thoughts precisely. Where is the discipling? Are people just getting spoon fed from the pulpit? Is it all about making us feel comfortable? Imagine Jesus saying to the woman caught in adultery, (& where is the man???) "When you are behaving better, then I`ll talk to you!!!! Of course not. How has that woman been in that fellowship with other believers and not helped to be drawn by the Holy Spirit? How come she has not felt the gentle guidance of the Holy Spirit to help her live a holy life?

Why, 5 years, she should be making disciples herself & helping them listen to the Holy Spirit`s guidance in all areas of our lives.

The thing I object to is "you know our standards".   How about " have you received Jesus Christ as both your Savior and your Lord?  Most people who have done so show fruit of the Holy Spirit which includes godliness, humility and modesty; these are reflected by our desire to glorify God in our attitudes and conduct.  Do you think the way you dress glorifies God, or does it reflect the attitude of the world to be sexy and tempt others to sin?"

Yup, it is not being  effective and therefore i'm pretty comfortable to say it is not following the Bible , not doing it's job. That includes the whole congregation in that btw , not just the leadership.

wow....just....just wow.....you really underestimate the stubbornness and hard hardheartedness of people

Five years way to long to be telling someone the same thing.

Also i think the illustration is rigged.  it gives you something else to look at other than the intended topic.  its a common case of misdirection.  and i think its an effort to justify what someone wants to do instead of what The Bible says.

Stick to the facts.  which is the attire is modest or not.  Because here are the facts... someone not listening for five years on something this simple is long enough that if several men approached this lady it would not be out of line.

The illustration is an attempt to justify ones actions.  like a child who convinces themselves their parents dont love them so then their rebellion is justify-able.  and that is pure hogwash.

I would say tell her dont come unless you can dress appropriately.  I mean, 5 years?  Thats around 260 sundays.  Just telling her words isnt working, obviously so its time to take it up a notch.

A little harsh but ... i agree somewhat. P.S I actually created the illustration by combining 2 images on powerpoint because i wanted a visual reference for the topic. I wanted to focus on the element of is it appropriate for a male church member to correct her

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
