I heard a story today that was thought-provoking:

A man was at a barber shop getting his hair cut and he began telling the barber how God has been so good to him.  The barber interrupted him and said, "God does not exist! If God exists then why does God allow so much suffering to take place?"  The man did not have a good answer for the barber and was troubled by this question.  So as he was leaving the barbershop he noticed a homeless man standing outside the barbershop with long and scraggly hair.   The man walks back into the barbershop and tells the barber, "Barbers do not exist!  And if they did, then why does this homeless man have such long scraggly hair?".   The barber replied, "Barbers do exist!  The problem is he never came to see me so I could cut his hair."  The man smiled and winked at the barber as he left.

Clever story. I liked it.  Personally,  I've never understood how people could disbelieve in God. Suffering actually proves the existence of God, not disproves it.

I am reminded of Hebrews 11.6: "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him."

Hi Jedi,

That is a question most people ask and needs to be addressed. People think that God, being all powerful would just put an end to suffering. People don`t like looking at suffering so they want God to `run around ` and fix it all up, which would mean every moment of the day.

We tend to place suffering at the top of our list of what we want dealt with. However, to God, the worst is being apart from Him forever. Thus, suffering makes us address our mortality and the consequences of our actions before God. Although we don`t like looking at suffering, or suffering ourselves, it does however, make us vulnerable and perhaps empathetic to others.

There is a time limit on suffering, however, praise the Lord.

Marilyn.

Jesus suffered on the cross, and suffering did not stop Jesus.

What matters is that suffering can not stop God from doing all the good He does with us.

God used the suffering of His Son for so much more good than that suffering took from Jesus.

So, it is wise to not let evil decide how we see things and if we have hope in God, or not.

A good story which clearly iollistrates two poblems.

1 the ignorance of non christians.

2 the ignorance of Christians.

Non christians, ignore the rules God has set and expect everything to go well, in there favour.

Christians either are not taught anything other than the milk of the gospel or want learn to understand the meat of the gospel.

God is perfect He cannot abide sin.

God is a jealous God. He has stated as much.

Man sins against God, mankind receives the just result of  sin.

God in his mercy has provided the way to be reconciled to Him.

Yeshua is the way, as is revealed by the Holy Spirit and shared of within the Bible from Genesis through Revelation.

I too have a story.

There was a king who ruled his people righteously and benignly. Another man, claiming to be the rightful king, convinced the people, despite the evidence, that the reigning king was holding back on them. The people rebelled and made the imposter king. He was cruel and self-serving - a liar and a murderer. Soon, the once flourishing kingdom was in chaos, with thievery, murder, corruption and disease the order of the day. Strangely, the kingdom people blamed the good king and asked why he allowed such suffering. Years went by with much suffering and then came word that the good king was planning a return. The suffering people asked why doesn't the good king do something? The messengers answered; "He is, but (i) it takes a bit of time, and (ii) he's doing it in distant place."

But then the messengers had some questions of the people - which they did not like; (i) why did they willingly crown the evil king? (ii) Why did they believe the words of the evil king while the good king put them in Eden? (iii) Why did they join the evil kings in his evil? (iv) Why won't they join the good king's army? (v) Why won't you have patience for, and believe in, the good king who originally put them in Eden.

The people hated such questions and killed the messengers.

It's an object lesson to the entire universe as to what happens if Satan is allowed to run wild forever.

I've shared this from time to time I really like it by a Christian rapper

"It's easy to blame God but harder to fix things
We look in the sky like, "why ain't You listening?"
Watching the news in our living rooms on the big screens
And talking 'bout "if God's really real, then where is He?"
You see the same God that you saying might not even exist
Becomes real to us, but only when we dying in bed
When ya healthy it's like, we don't really care for Him then
Leave me alone God, I'll call you when I need you again
Which is funny, everyone will sleep in the pews
Then blame God for our problems like He sleeping on you
We turn our backs on Him, what do you expect Him to do?
It's hard to answer prayers when nobody's praying to you
I look around at this world we walk on
It's a smack in the face, don't ever tell me there's no God
And if there isn't then what are we here for?
And what are y'all doing down there? I don't know Lord"

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
