You think those who worship on saturday are wrong to do so ezra?

I would say so in the light of Scripture and the practice of apostolic churches and churches in the 1st century (Justin Martyr describes Christian worship on the Lord's Day).  The sabbath was given to Israel, the Lord's Day to the Church.

It is the day for both worship, rest, and the proclamation of the Gospel.  You will notice in Acts 15 that the sabbath was not applied to Gentiles, although some injunctions from the Law of Moses were.  Therefore Paul says this in 1 Cor 16:1,2: Now concerning the collection for the saints, as I have given order to the churches of Galatia, even so do ye.  Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come.

Why would Paul single out the first day of the week for Christian giving, if it was not the day when Christians gathered to worship? (Acts 20:7).

Give to everyone what you owe them: If you owe taxes, pay taxes; if revenue, then revenue; if respect, then respect; if honor, then honor. Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. Romans 13:7-8 (NIV)

I ask then: Did God reject his people? By no means! I am an Israelite myself, a descendant of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin. God did not reject his people, whom he foreknew. Don’t you know what Scripture says in the passage about Elijah—how he appealed to God against Israel: Romans 11:1 (NIV)

Believing Jew~!

Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread through the whole countryside. He was teaching in their synagogues, and everyone praised him. He went to Nazareth, where he had been brought up, and on the Sabbath day he went into the synagogue, as was his custom. He stood up to read, and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written: Luke 4:14-16

Blessings ricky.....

In this day & age most churches offer more than just one service on Sunday, they usually have an early morning service & an early evening service......my church has 3,early morning, mid morning & early evening,,,,,,they even have a Saturday night service,I suppose for folks that work on Sundays,,,,,,,,,,a sports game can surely fit in there somewhere & we even have a nice little invention called the "DVR".........

It goes back to one thing, what is ones priority?I am not saying anything either way because what is good for me may not be good for another as in Romans 14:5..........as far as not being permitted to do anything on the Sabbath, well,,,,are we under the Law of Moses, did Jesus not heal on the Sabbath?   I think Jesus explained pretty clearly what being "Lord of the Sabbath" means but I can see it may be mis-interpreted,,,,,,,,

Getting back to the OP,I don't think I find it insulting to break the tradition of not having games on Sundays but I do empathize with your viewing this as irreverrant,,,,,,,perhaps it is ,living in America where Sunday is more or less "Football Sunday" I may need to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal some things I have yet to see or understand,,,,,,,,,,,we can all learn and grow,it certainly is something to pray about as the whole world seems to be drifting further & further away from our Father.................Glory to God,EVERYDAY!!!!

On the Sabbath, one is not to do any work/business, carrying or transferring money. So, it is in keeping with the Sabbath, that they would do no collections on the Sabbath. Rather, collecting money would be done on the first day of the week. Or any other day, except the Sabbath.

In my view, those verses would support the Sabbath, since the chuches are instructed to take collections on a day other then the Sabbath.

Our grand daughter is active in both basketball and softball on a grade school level. Our church has Sunday and Wednesday services for kids, but those are the two days that her school scheduals games and practices. They cut short practice and arrive late for church, but occasionally they miss out of town games that start at 9 AM. on Sunday. You would think that they would at least limit the games to Sunday afternoons. I find this schedualing to be inconvenient if not offensive.

I think a person can Worship on any day of the week. There are often Wednesday evening services at many Churches and I know many find those services convenient.

When Jesus said He will be in the midst of two or three gathering in His name, He did not specify any day of the week or special gathering.  I prefer to worship Him every day.  Sunday is no different than any other day.

As for the world, they will do as they will every day of the week.

I have been thinking about this since I posted it, I personal objection to the game on a Sunday is not the day, but rather the time, the game kicked off at 5pm, most churches in proximity to the stadium  have evening church services at 6:30pm, the area the stadium is in a residential and there are number of churches near the ground, but there is really only on street parking for the stadium (when Windsor Park was built 100 years ago parking wasn't a big concern) so you could imagine the disruption this would cause to to people attending the local churches.

Well that is different.  They should have some consideration for churches in the area that are in earshot of roaring crowds that can distract from the service.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

      Shalom everyone,

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
