33 For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints.

1Cor.14:33

Sinner,if you search in Worthy you will find tons of stuff about speaking in tongues..:) It has been discussed a lot!

What do you think about your question?

I think that , I don't go back to the old posts, because its good to hear it fresh, from the here and the now, this way, it keeps us on

our toes, and we can always learn something new. and keeps us looking and searching Gods word.

I believe tongues, is not used today, for it does not serve a purpose, for we all understand English, and the bible is clear.

and that it was used for the purpose of Pentecost to go out, to all the different people and languages , at that time.

what would we use it for today ? but that is just my view, God is not a God of confusion, and I do not speak it, and never heard it spoke, being filled with the spirit , does not come with a attachment of tongues or any thing else,

for we know we are filled with the spirit , when we are producing the fruits of the spirit , and that is listed in the bible, good fruit, that is, so this I have no other comment for , thank you for asking ?

Sinner, I don't really know  if speaking in tongues is for today , for myself I rather speak in English or Dutch so I know what comes out of my mouth, I did hear before of people speaking in tongues and people who did understood the language translated it as a message which was not from God. So I am  be very careful , I heard pentecostal  preachers trying to let members speak in tongues by telling them just to open their mouth and whatever they would say would be speaking in tongues , I believe this is very wrong..

They could be real tongues but I know there is fake also..

On the other hand the Spirit understand our groanings which we can do in the Spirit when we have no words ,God can also hear our prayer when we don't have the words to pray..the Holy Spirit  knows our innermost parts and desires because He dwells in and through us..

For me to be filled with the Holy Spirit is to live through Christ  who gave me boldness to preach the gospel, that is what it is all about.

Acts 4:31

And when they had prayed, the place in which they were gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and continued to speak the word of God with boldness

Just a thought, if some one was to talk in tongues? would they have a new revelation ,then what we already learn from the bible?

being filled with the spirit is total surrender to God and his will ,not ours, when we know its about him, then its easier to follow him, and make better decisions, for our eyes are open, and the blinders are fallen off,

but as far as the spirit groans with in us  ? and we cannot understand, it is I believe, silent, and it is not of confusion our audible  , that's what I believe, for we are washed by the word, and everyday we are cleansed, and being regenerated spiritually with in us, and tells God for us, that we are in love with him, and we want to do what we can to be pleasing in his eyes.

Amen ..

After Christ departed, the gospels went out to the gentiles.  The churches became mixed with Jews and gentiles so as the churches spread out, it would of included Romans, Greeks, Samaritans, Syrians, Turks etc.

So to me, it makes sense why one would stand up in a church and speak in tongues, to spread the message of the gospel, so those  speaking other languages can understand, and the interpreter would of verified what was being said.  The only benefit I can  see is it being used to spread the message of the gospel, to get it out to the gentiles.

Blessings SINNERSAVED,.....

I understand what you are saying about praying silently & the spirit groanings(also angels said it in her post)& I do agree but I would like to add why it is so important to "speak"

Of course we know that God knows our prayers before we even ask,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

King James Bible
Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.
                                                                                                                                Matthew 6:8

& we know that only He can read our our thoughts, our hearts(even better than we do,,,,,

King James Bible
For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
                                                                                                                                      Hebrews 4:12

There is nothing in the Bible that supports,as some imagine, that the enemy can read our mind but to the contrary because we are ALWAYS told to "speak" God Word( the Sword of the Spirit),this way the enemy can hear what we say. They certainly know & can predict  our reaction & our "next step"  because they’ve been at it from the beginning ,,,,,,,,many people say this is one of the reasons that God empowers us with a Heavenly language(that the enemy cannot understand),,,,,,I know not of a Scripture verse to support that but it would make perfect sense besides the fact that we not what we ought to pray,,,,,,,,,,

We know that God inhabits our PRAISE,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,what demon wants to hang around praise & WORSHIP?

Ephesians 6:10-18

The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. 14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. 16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; 17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God, 18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,

Bless the Lord,Oh my soul!!!!!!!                      To God be the Glory in ALL things!!!!                 With love-in Christ,Kwik

I agree with you , and you are on point, and that's great, but Jesus said when you pray go into your room and pray for the lord hear you in secret, for what is secret will be rewarded openly,, for if we ask he already knows what we are asking for,

so we need to really understand ,we are told by the hearing of the word of course ,brings us to God, and through seeking of the word we are saved, but in praying it is between you and God, and personal, let us shout  from the roof tops , how great our lord God is, yes, we want all to know the saving grace of God, and make a joyful noise  to the lord, and we want all to be saved, that we can guide and bring to the lord, for his anointing ,

but we see that it is spiritual, that is beyond our comprehension, and that the thoughts, and mind set , toward God is the key to being filled with the spirit , and our actions relaying the fruit of the spirit , that we know a invisible God we serve , by faith and hope, that we know he is there , and we are changed to acknowledge  that. and repent of our ways,

mind set of the believer, is the power to be tuned in with God,

There are no "buts" about it,,,,,,we are saying exactly the same thing(in our own way),,,,, in like mind & judgement just as the Body of Christ is of the same Body ,emPowered by the same Spirit!!!!!!!!!

Speaking in tongues is for today, however to speak it publicly without anyone to interpret is useless. In acts when the a Holy Spirit fell upon those who were gathered, those who were watching heard words spoken in various languages and it was understood.

Hmmm...I didn't see that post but some of these so called 'tongues' we see on t.v. ARE gibberish.  The way I understand it from the two verses in red, above, is either the person speaking or those being spoken to have to be able to understand what is being said.  Yes, there really are those who use this practice in a fraudulent way, usually to make money.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • George Whitten, the visionary behind Worthy Ministries and Worthy News, explores the timing of the Simchat Torah War in Israel. Is this a water-breaking moment? Does the timing of the conflict on October 7 with Hamas signify something more significant on the horizon?

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
