Where does Paul tell Timothy that scripture is the Word of God?   How did the books of the NT become seen as the Word of God?

Your question was answered by showing you the Scripture which says that ALL Scripture is "God-breathed" (theopneustos) translated as "given by inspiration of God". That is a perfectly adequate answer.  Furthermore it is just the 66 books of the Bible.

As to how we know that the NT books are inspired, Peter tells us that ALL of Paul's epistles (over 50% of the NT), as well as his own epistles, are equal to the OT Scriptures, and the other books indicate that they are also divinely inspired either directly or indirectly.  The NT canon was already established by the 2nd century AD.

Well this is what six year old do, repeat the same question all the time.  You are all grown up by now, so if you expand on your question a bit to give a bit more insight of what you are after, we can respond or better address your question.

So, let's see if we are getting somewhere.    The Bible is a compilation of written accounts that God has inspired men to write and has given men authority to do so. First to believe the Bible one must have faith and faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

I think also, you want answers that is not inclusive of the bible.  But a believer cannot do that.

With all due respect, do we know if the OP is an adult, a teenager or under 12? I don't.

I think maybe he's asking if we consider the Bible the verbatim words of God. I know some people do but I don't. I believe the Bible is words men wrote based on what God spoke to them, either in their minds, or sometimes through the Holy Spirit, or even by angels, such as in the book of Daniel.

Many good sound doctrinal explanations here I totally agree with. I might add, prophecy is given so we may know what the future holds for us, and to prove God is whom He says He is. God lives outside of time and sees the past, present and future all at the same time. Literally hundreds of prophecies have been given in the Holy Bible. Many have already been come to pass and fulfilled with 100% accuracy, even verified by secular history and the unbelieving. Many are yet to be fulfilled, and you can be certain is will be fulfilled 100% accurate, 100% of the time. If that alone is not inspired to man from God, I don't know what is?

The wealth of knowledge and wisdom in the entire Bible alone, testifies that it is not of man, but the inspired word of God. These are just a couple of examples of the many that are obvious to those with faith and plainly seen.

The questions of the New Testament, etc...  Sounds like, how did we get our Bible and which versions to me? Is too lengthy and detailed to address, it would take a book and many have already been written. I would suggest for a short version to this question visit http://www.stewartonbibleschool.org

there is no doubt, that God used men to actually put it on paper-but scripture is clear, that it was God who told them what to say, hence the verse I put above-all scripture is inspired, all scripture is the word of God. There is no other way to say it, and that is what it means.

Hi Warrior,

This is pretty close to being over the line. I'm giving you the opportunity to rephrase prior to banning you from the thread.

God bless,

First let me begin by saying I know this is a touchy subject but it is my hope....
that this brings thoughtful and thought provoking discussion....

If you feel that this topic is too touchy for you....
I ask that you do not participate in it.  Now to the questions....

For those that believe the Bible to be the Word of God....
what do you mean by that....

First
Let Me Say
Although Some May Slice
Dice And Mock The LORD's Holy Bible

I have hidden your word in my heart that I might not sin against you. Psalms 119:11 (New International Version)

In The End, His Holy Book Will Have The Final Word

And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened, which is the book of life. And the dead were judged by what was written in the books, according to what they had done. Revelation 20:12 (English Standard Version)

So, If One Wants To Know Joy And Eternal Love

You say, 'I'm rich. I'm wealthy. I don't need anything.' Yet, you do not realize that you are miserable, pitiful, poor, blind, and naked.

I advise you: Buy gold purified in fire from me so that you may be rich. Buy white clothes from me. Wear them so that you may keep your shameful, naked body from showing. Buy ointment to put on your eyes so that you may see.

I correct and discipline everyone I love. Take this seriously, and change the way you think and act.

Look, I'm standing at the door and knocking. If anyone listens to my voice and opens the door, I'll come in and we'll eat together. I will allow everyone who wins the victory to sit with me on my throne, as I have won the victory and have sat down with my Father on his throne.

Let the person who has ears listen to what the Spirit says to the churches." Revelation 3:17-22 (GOD'S WORD® Translation)

Pay Attention To The Way

Jesus told him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. John 14:6 (Holman Christian Standard Bible)

And The Truth

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that whoever believes in him will not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:16 (New Heart English Bible)

Be Blessed Beloved Of The KING

The LORD bless thee, and keep thee:
The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.

And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:24-27 (King James Bible)

Love, Your Brother Joe

~

Thy word is true from the beginning: and every one of thy righteous judgments endureth for ever. Psalms 119:160 (King James Bible)

The Bible contains the mind of God, the state of man, the way of salvation, the doom of sinners, and the happiness of believers. Its doctrines are holy, its precepts are binding, its histories are true, and its decisions are immutable.

Read it to be wise, believe it to be safe, and practice it to be holy. It contains light to direct you, food to support you, and comfort to cheer you.

It is the traveler’s map, the pilgrim’s staff, the pilot’s compass, the soldier’s sword and the Christian’s charter. Here too, Heaven is opened and the gates of Hell disclosed.

Christ is its grand subject, our good its design, and the glory of God its end. It should fill the memory, rule the heart and guide the feet. Read it slowly, frequently and prayerfully.  It is a mine of wealth, a paradise of glory, and a river of pleasure.

It is given you in life, will be opened at the judgment, and be remembered forever. It involves the highest responsibility, rewards the greatest labor, and will condemn all who trifle with its sacred contents.

My apologies to any i have offended and i really did not mean to post it the way i did.

Ok, so i will rephrase the statement.

To the OP.  I have tried in my replies to give you the answer i saw as appropriate.  It seems that my replies did not answer your question and is therefore asking you give an expanded view of your question, mainly the last last sentence.  One has to truly grasp what your intent in the line of question is.  As others have said your question answer itself and i was trying to give reasons to the way i interpreted the question.

If you modify the question to  show some line of reasoning, then the readers can get a understanding of your post.   Did not mean to offend you and i am sorry for what could be seen as impatience.

To steve.  The reply was to the poster and not to others, though i now realize the way it is worded, other can take offence.  thanks for pointing out my error.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
