I have seriously thought about being cremated when I die.  I have no husband, my children have their own families, my parents will be buried together so if I am buried (should I remain single at that time) I will be placed in a hole in a plot by myself.  My desire is to be cremated and let the children decide what they want to do with this old earthly body.  My mother (91) is not very happy about this decision.  I have asked several pastors their opinion about cremation and no one can give me an answer whether it go against biblical doctrine or not.  I would really like some imput on this.

I asked my Pastor this very thing. We spoke about this at length. Many people die or are killed in many different ways. Thousands have been drowned at war, their bodies never recovered, some possibly eaten by sharks, many are dismembered in accidents, some I have seen so were so badly dismembered, body parts were taken away by birds before we could gather all, never to be recovered.

Many people have been consumed by fire, 9/11 only one such example.

Its all a matter of personal choice.

I wanted to be buried, my wife cremated. So we would be together I have decided to go along with her wish and be cremated.

All cremation does is hurry the process of returning the body to dust from which it was made by God.

Genesis 3:19, In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return. (KJV).

Upon resurrection we will be given a brand new glorified body, which will be recognisable by those who have known us in this life.

Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. That is what the Bible says happens to the body when it dies. At the Resurrection, we will receive new, immortal bodies that will never die. There is nothing in Scripture that talks about dealing with a body after it dies, except in the OT, and that had to do with hygiene and disease control than any thing else. In the NT, Paul says that absent from the body, present with the Lord. Our Spirits go to be with Christ until the Resurrection, for those who are saved. For those who are lost, their spirits (souls) go to Hades to await their judgement. We will no longer need our earthly bodies after death as GOD says we will get new ones, so whatever you desire to happen to your empty remains should be your decision and there is no Biblical "Doctrine," not of human psychology, that you would be violating should you choose cremation. I myself have chosen cremation.

The bible is silent on cremation. If the body is cremated it will not make a difference in God resurrecting the body. It is a matter of personal preference.

I don't see anything wrong with it, certainly nothing in scripture.  I told my daughter she can dispose of me however she chooses and that I'm fine with cremation as it would be less expense for her.  Welcome to worthy by the way. :)

God bless

I haven't seen anything scriptural to say that it's a sin. I will say that cremation was started by various pagan peoples for their pagan worship, and that the Jews did no cremate. Does that mean we shouldn't? I don't know. I would prayerfully consider it and ask God to reveal His will to you.

I have had your same thoughts HAZARD, I guess my real question is when given a choice, is cremation acceptable?  There are times when a person is required to do things that would, when given a choice, be unacceptable.

KB1110 has given me an answer that a previous preacher gave me a couple of years ago. My thoughts here are that I would not be having this done to follow pagan religions. Your statement to "prayerfully consider it" is so true.

Personally no cremation. The body burns the bones do not and are disposed of in the landfill. When dead it probably does not matter. The question also is ...is it really you and all you who is in the urn? ????

Jesus was buried or entombed. I prefer the burial method.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
