to which the boys said-No mummy that's a lie and you told us not to tell lies.

And then the son grew up and told lies much worse than that.

The mom was trying not to hurt someone’s feelings. No we shouldn’t lie but I suspect that lie was coming from a place of kindness and not meant to harm.

And Jehovah Witnesses always seem to show up when you’re getting out of the shower and running pass the window naked. I don’t blame anyone for saying what they have to... never mind.

" Do you think I look fat?"

Choices;

Well in truth, yes of course you look fat, because you are fat.

Now that may be a truth, but it is immensely unkind, and harmfully mean spirited. Better the kind lie be told;

Gee I haven't noticed that at all! You look good and healthy to me. Do you feel you want or need to be slimmer for some reason?

Excellent as always...

The Holy Spirit tells us:

Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man. Col 4:6

Have you noticed we Christians can excuse "acceptable " lies when the situation is one where we dont want to deal with uncomfortablr situations or persons and feel justified

Case in point

1) An older Christian lady once told me she raised her  sons to never lie . One day the J.witnesses came and because she didnt want to talk to them she told the boys to say my mother isn't  home (something I was asked to do as a child  as well) to which the boys said-No mummy that's a lie and you told us not to tell lies.

we need to be conscious  and remember,Gods principles apply in every situation no matter how uncomfortable

I keep wondering why Santa Claus stopped bringing me presents.

It's only become a habit in the past 6 months or so, but the large church pastor has been banging the gong pretty hard. His requests are usually not scripturally based, which seems to bother absolutely no one.

I'm just increasingly finding church attendance and participation a big joke. It's testing my gullibility to the stretching and maybe breaking point.

God says He hates lying. There is no acceptable lie. But God knows we are human. When Rehab lied about the spies, God did not punish her. In fact He saved her---not because she lied---but because she turned to the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob and worshiped Him. When Richard Wurmbrand was tortured for his faith in Communist prisons, he lied to the interrogating officers about information regarding his brothers. The Secret Police knew he was lying and so Richard took all of the beatings for them. God sees the heart and the motives and intentions why we do things.

Given the choice of hurting somebody feelings or telling a lie......I will go with the lie .And “ that” is no lie! There’s the Letter of the Law, and there is the Spirit Of The Law . To me, Spirit trumps Letter.

God will never validate righteousness by breaking His Law... We have not been given license to sin

Rom 6:14-15

14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

15 What then? shall we sin, because we are not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
KJV

but obedience to God's commandments 'IS' Love God has placed into us returning to Him

John 14:21

21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
KJV

You are merely putting the love for the created being ahead of Loving God which is first and greatest in the summary of God

Matt 22:36-38

36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?

37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

38 This is the first and great commandment.

Way back when, I ran a business doing carpentry work. Unfortunately, much of my business was with fellow members in my church.
I would try to give them my best price, but some would hang out the "Jesus shingle" for a special 'cheaper' rate.
Never do business with friends neighbors or relatives. You will lose them eventually.
Like the story above, when they called for more work, I worked out a system with my young children.
I would step outside, and they would tell the caller I was not in the house, but would tell their dad they called.
They told the truth, and I worked on jobs that would at least put beans on the table.
Those were the lean/mean years.
I never ask my kids to lie, except when hiding gifts/presents from their mom we were making.
Somehow it never occurred to me that it might be a sin.

“ love you neighbor as yourself”

How would you respond if a very unattractive person asked you “do you think I am ugly?”

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
