You've thrown out the Ten Commandments?

Nobody here is throwing out the Ten Commandments.......Paul beat us to the punch a long time ago.....They have been “ thrown out” in the sense that they have been “ exposed”........ they have been shown to be “ weak and useless” as far as Salvation is concerned......it has NO POWER to save , it can only condemn......The Law  was given so that “ Sin would INCREASE.” Perhaps God thought if sin would increase enough, people would get sick of it and try to find an antidote to it.Paul said the Law could only benefit us if we knew how to use it.The proper purpose of the Law is  to show us the folly of trying to keep it and let it take us by the hand , “ stop our mouths”  about trying to make the case that we could perform it, and lead us to the One that DID keep it......Jesus.Attempts to keep the Law will all end in failure. If the Holy Spirit opens your eyes to this fact, a Contrite Heart should be the result. A heart that has not been made Contrite will never be ready to receive the Gospel That will save him.

A wise person will try to be obedient to the Ten Commandments- God will bless a person for obedience. The Commandments Bless, But they do not Save. “ Obedience” this side Of The Cross means Obedience to the Gospel. We should respect the Law, make sure we use it for its intended purpose and take it off the pedestal we have put it on and replace it with The Gospel Of Grace— something that actually has the POWER to save......

God chastens those He loves.  No Christian gets away with sinning.  Getting whupted by God is not fun but it is memorable.

Heb 12:5  And have you forgotten the exhortation that addresses you as sons? "My son, do not regard lightly the discipline of the Lord, nor be weary when reproved by him.

Heb 12:6  For the Lord disciplines the one he loves, and chastises every son whom he receives."

Heb 12:7  It is for discipline that you have to endure. God is treating you as sons. For what son is there whom his father does not discipline?

Heb 12:8  If you are left without discipline, in which all have participated, then you are illegitimate children and not sons.

Heb 12:10  For they disciplined us for a short time as it seemed best to them, but he disciplines us for our good, that we may share his holiness.

Heb 12:11  For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Heb 12:12  Therefore lift your drooping hands and strengthen your weak knees,

Heb 12:13  and make straight paths for your feet, so that what is lame may not be put out of joint but rather be healed.

The difference in the kind of grace you believe OSAS is and what it actually is, are two different concepts, IMO.  OSAS means that before salvation I did not have to do anything. God came to me in my greatest need as a sinner and asked me to simply believe who He said He is, resting and trusting in the finished work of Christ. After I was saved, I began to experience salvation. My Father does not abandon me anymore than my earthly father abandons me when I am disobedient. He does not say, "you are no longer my son; you were never born to me. I don't know you." He tells me I am His, that He loves me with a covenantal love, an everlasting love, a love He started and promises He will finish. I may hear God say to me, "Son, adultery is not something you want to pursue," and I look back and remember all of the ways God has loved me and brought me up in the image of His Son, I will no longer  want to act contrary to His commands. Instead of being obedient because I have to, I am free to be obedient because I desire to be. But because I am human, and am flawed, blemished, and imperfect, I stumble, and sin. It does not mean that my "sins are acceptable before Him." Where are you getting this misperceived information? Will the God who loves me not correct me? Does He not say in Revelation that, "Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent"? The idea of repenting means to turn back to Him. If I do not, I am disciplined---not abandoned. Hebrews tells us, "Do not make light of the Lord's discipline nor lose hope when He rebukes you." He is speaking to His own children. He is not abandoning them. No one here is angerly defending themselves who are OSAS, but what I am hearing is judgement from you if I don't "measure up." Romans 7:5 puts into proper perspective those who always are looking at their sins instead of looking to Christ. The more we try to contend with what is wrong with us, the more we want to sin. It actually heightens, not diminishes our desire. Please read it. Your name-calling ("This kindergarten perspective")---even if you were right, will never get someone to change his way---and that is precisely why God knows that the "Do this or else" philosophy doesn't work. It has nothing to do with grace, but it has everything to do with compulsion and outward compliance, begrudging what we do instead of desiring to. Obedience is practiced out of love, not force. "If you love me, you will obey me." It is a statement of fact, not a command. Someone who hates God will not obey Him. :)

Good morning Coliseum,

Your statement where you do not even attempt to stop sinning because it will only lead to a greater desire to sin, is the same as those who do not attempt to mortify the deeds of the flesh and therefore die in Romans 8:13. If I am wrong in my assessment, please elaborate as to how your continuing to live and walk after the flesh, and not after the spirit (Romans 8:1), qualifies you as being in the Spirit in unison with God? Common sense tells us it doesn't. This type of kindergarten perspective is why so many outsiders say no thanks to what is an obvious flaw in the OSAS camp. The Lord is now commencing to once more shake the earth, and those things that are made, (that is theologies that omit much of the Word), in order to continue living in the flesh, contrary to the Word, shall fall away (Hebrews 12:26-27). The Word is the root we have to endure by, without which, by omitting that Word which does not allow us to live under the flesh as we wish, those individuals without root shall fall away (Matthew 13:21). That is the Word.

So by the way since you brought up Romans 7:5, are you saying you are no longer in the flesh, though you still continuously walk after it?

Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. Romans 8:13

Romans 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Hebrews 12:26 Whose voice then shook the earth: but now he hath promised, saying, Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. 27 And this word, Yet once more, signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain.

Matthew 13:21  Yet hath he not root in himself, but dureth for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, by and by he is offended.

Romans 7:5  For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

Knowing that ALL of my  sins are covered by the Blood Of Jesus Christ makes me want to sin LESS . Once again, it’s  one of those “Christian Paradox” thingies......It becomes more and more clear to me that You have to live it to Understand it.......To have ANY chance to live it , you have to do as God Commands— Abandon your disobedience and unbelief by Resting in the Gospel ......don’t settle for a “ Walk Of Faith” That is crippled......You either Trust God or you don’t ......Your reaction to the Gospel is a test from God........Don’t Be Of the same mind-set that left the Untrusting Jews to die in the Wilderness......have the Courage to step out in Faith...... “ Let go and let God”.....

Very good Blood Bought, I also continue to abandon carnal desires, and hope and pray to continue doing so, as the time for complacency appears to have ended.

Very nice Willa,

This is how I see Heb 12:13 "And make straight paths for your feet (discern correctly), so that what is lame (Where we do not walk correctly) may not be put out of Joint (never to walk again correctly), but rather be healed (so that we do walk correctly).

I think my observation is an accurate one and worth noting. My testimony is consistently disputed by several. What is there to dispute? The Lord led me to repent of sin I was committing and my life was transformed. I think there are some who can learn from that.

No one is disputing "repenting" from our sin...

The major difference in my  testimony is my "repentance" was a "changing of my mind" of who I thought/considered "Jesus" was/is.

Up until that point of time in my life, ...Jesus was just a name I used in swearing...

Then my "eyes" were opened and the Holy Spirit revealed ALL of my sin to me, ...He then revealed to me I was destined for Hell, ...then He revealed to me "Jesus" was/is God and "Jesus" could be my Savior, ...the choice was mine...

I repented, ...I "changed my mind," ...which is the "correct" Biblical interpretation of the word "repent," and I became, ...not a Christian, ...but rather a born again child of God John 1:12.

Here's how I "repented" from my sin, "before" I became a born again child of God, ...I was a fornicator, ...making no distinction between married or unmarried partners, ...then one day I met one of my "conquests" in public and she had her three daughters with her.

From that day forward I "repented" and was only "sinning" with unmarried partners, ...no way was I going to "commit" the sin of adultery again!

I had "repented" from my sin of adultery, ...as many in the world do from, ...sex, lying, stealing, ....but that didn't make me a born again child of God with the Holy Spirit living inside of me.

As a child of God the Holy Spirit has written His Law, ...what is called the Ten Commandments, ...both in my heart and in my mind, ...He has also taught me the spiritual "principal" of those Ten Commandments, ...which Jesus summed them up for us as LOVE.

As a born again child of God, ...being transformed into the image of my Jesus, ..my thought process, ...the very character of my life is not focused on "keeping" and not "breaking" one of the Ten Commandments, ...but rather to use them to show and manifest the image of Christ being formed in me, ...which is His Love for people so as to not hurt anyone...

Lord bless

I think an actual Christian, however you choose to label them, will see all scripture at God breathed, and therefore all true. If one comes to an understanding that pits one portion of scripture against another, and sees a disunity, then that person has not yet come to understand what he/she is reading.

Your the God who stays.. Matthew West.

Thats what matters. I don't know any of these "its ok to sin" Christians. Truth the only place I hear read about is on Christian forums.  Well I do remember one. That Church.. gave away anything you needed. I reached out and talked to him.. to make sure because no Church just gives anything.. when in need.  And it was.. bible.. anything to help. He did say they have to be very careful because many try to just abuse it :( Now those kind of Churches. hard pressed to find. HAHA and it was one of those grace only ones. Wow what are the odds.

I don't know.. if I just think of Christ.. I only see those that believe in Him and those that don't. The SIN ... I don't see it.

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
