The verse you quote is part of the 10 commandments, the law set up by God for the nation of Israel. Jews are required to follow and obey it. Its part of the old covenant. Christians are under the new covenant. We are not bound by the Israelite laws. Therefore christians are not desecrating the sabbath because we aren't required to obey it. However, for the sake of argument, even if we were, Jesus himself made clear that the sabbath was not created to be a burden to man. Jesus himself was working on the sabbath as the religious leaders accused him. But he broke no law and committed no sin. God allows us to do good on the sabbath, whether it be a doctor tending to a sick patient, or a volunteer helping someone less fortunate. Even pastors work on Sunday ( some call this the Christian sabbath ). God didn't create that law so the world would freeze every Saturday, he created it so people would take a break each week to stop from their busy lives and worship him who had given them that life.

We are not under the dominion of the Law, for it was never given to us; we are not burdened by the Law, for we received a more excellent covenant. We are the temple of the Holy Spirit and so at all times --- every day --- the Lord is with us, and we are with Him. Therefore, the apostle exhorts us to do all things unto the Lord. This is what the Son of God did each and every day: going about the work of our Father, and He is our example in all things. The servant is not greater than his master. 

We worship God in Spirit and truth, not according to ritual or rote. But there is a legalism which accuses, setting one against the other, casting accusations of evil deeds upon others according to the dictates of ritual and rote. That summarizes this "hit and run" OP rather well, which is incomplete and lacking substance. What do we have to bring before the assembly? A psalm, a song of thanksgiving to the Lord, or railing accusation?

Each and every day, the Spirit of the Lord conforms us to the image of the only begotten Son from glory to glory. Each and every day, we worship the Lord in the Spirit offering up spiritual sacrifices which are pleasing to the Almighty seated upon His throne. One day? That's a shadow of the Lord: God with us.

The classic not me its you that's wrong. Do you know how many meet on Sunday or at some home Church and never once think or call it the Sabbath? To just blindly lump all in to one. With out love even this is in vain. See if we pictured we were talking to Christ ooh then we would speak different. Yet we are and look how we treat Him. Its not in our best moments but when we are wrong off He takes it very serious.

Revelation 13:10 He who leads into captivity shall go into captivity, he who kills with the sword must be killed with the sword.  This is the faith and the patience of the saints.

Might I ask what in the world does this have to do with the subject at hand????
