  1. I am still considered a "newbie" but have advanced to "junior member" and have only been here on Worthy for less than a month. I found Worthy in a web search and started looking around and reading. I found myself digging through the different forum threads that caught my attention. I joined figuring I would at least read some of what others were posting and found that I wanted to add my 2 cents a few times. I seem to check in here daily now! What I have found while being on here is that there many people are far more intelligent than I. Far more are versed in theology than I. There are some who have placed some kind of dissertation or thesis in many, many threads and parts of the forum. I am just a simple woman with a fairly simple vocabulary and long winded people who use BIG words does not impress me. I move along and find something closer to my mind-skills to read and react to. This morning I went to the forum in the section called Upper Room. There I found a forum called "Absolutely Positive!" This was a place for those who wanted to discuss "Uplifting and Encouraging" topics. What I found were 145 pages for mostly NOT that. Why am I telling you all of this? I hope before any of us put a new thread in a part of Worthy Christian Forums we actually think about where we are posting that thread because some of us are actually seeking what the thread is offering. I am now looking elsewhere in the forum for; Absolutely Positive! Uplifting and Encouraging Discussions!

  2. The bottom line is: the only thing that really matters is what pleases the Lord. People's expectations come a very, very poor second to that. Does Roman Catholic infant sprinkling please God? No, of course not. It would be a very good witness for the Lord, for your husband to see you take a stand, because you love the Lord and want to please Him more than men. Matt. 10:34-39 (WEB) 34 “Don’t think that I came to send peace on the earth. I didn’t come to send peace, but a sword. 35 For I came to set a man at odds against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. 36 A man’s foes will be those of his own household. 37 He who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me; and he who loves son or daughter more than me isn’t worthy of me. 38 He who doesn’t take his cross and follow after me, isn’t worthy of me. 39 He who seeks his life will lose it; and he who loses his life for my sake will find it.

  3. Christianity has no denominations. People do As far as God is concerned there is one church, one head (Jesus Christ) and one message (The bible) We can learn from the bible either by ourselves or from a bible based teacher. Remember though that Paul Commended the Bereans because they just di not take what he said as Gospel without checking instead they searched scriptures to see if what Paul said was true. In the end there is no greater teacher than the Holy Spirit. John 14:26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.

Read about it. 1 Cor 7:14 1 Corinthians 7:14 New King James Version (NKJV) 14 For the unbelieving husband is sanctified by the wife, and the unbelieving wife is sanctified by the husband; otherwise your children would be unclean, but now they are holy

If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? 8. God awakened my heart in July 2016 to the fact that I was lost and he saved me, Glory to God! I was and am physically disabled, so I cannot attend local, in-person church. Worthy was the first online group that came up in a search, and after looking around I realized it was a good place to get involved. It's been a slow process to do so but I'm working on it. I know what you mean about being a little overwhelmed by the big, heady discussions. Massive posts with tons of research that can go on for pages and pages. But that's a good thing for some people, so I'm glad they have a place for that.

  9. What is the biggest problem with the ill named "prosperity" Gospel Is it that we think we can manipulate God into making Him give us things by what we do? Treating God like a vending machine? Is It the desire to be wealthy that overrides the desire to serve God? Is it that the focus is on what we want, rather than what the Lord wants? yes yes and yes There is no me in Gospel There is no me In Salvation There is no me In Service There is no me in Humility There is no me in submission There is no me in Faith But when my belief in God is all about me and making my life better. The train has jumped the tracks Matthew 16:25 For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. ---------------------- Jesus SPECIFICALLY told us not to be concerned with the cares of the world. But rather to focus on God and His righteous....and God will take care of the rest Matthew 6: 25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one [j]cubit to his [k]stature? 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not [l]arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Enough....is enough More is a distraction. I am not saying that money in and of itself is bad, but our fixation on it is. Luke 16:13 “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness

  10. I agree. It sounds to me like the "wolf" in "sheep" clothing who tries to sneak in will be discovered and thrown out of the wedding feast. Basically the ones who say; Matthew 25:11 (KJV) Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, Lord, Lord, open to us. Matthew 7:21 (KJV) Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 7:22 (KJV) Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? The Good Shepherd knows His sheep. They know His voice. He knows their true heart and spirit. There will be no one sneaking into the kingdom.

  11. I think it's a big mistake to FOLLOW any denomination or person, other than Jesus. We should read our Bibles, get to know Jesus on a personal level (constant prayer), and follow him. Meanwhile, we should find a church and serve faithfully.

  12. Dear Thewhitedove. Show your catholic family this and see how they react. I have read many times over the years questions from people; "How can God allow innocent children burn in Hell because they were not for many and varied reasons, baptized?" God does not send any innocent children or even adults to hell because they are not batized. There is not one word in the entire Bible that mentions Infant baptism or any such practice. It is very clear from Scripture that baptism is only required after men have repented of their sins and have been born of the Spirit of God. There is no express command for infants to be baptized untill they become responsible agents and turn to God and have their sins, as adults, remitted. Salvation is a personal experience and children must become old enough to accept salvation before they are commanded to be baptized. Children, untill they become responsible, even though their parents are unsaved, will be taken to Heaven if they die before accountability just as much as those of saved parents. Read Matthew 18:1-10; 19:14). Scripture demands faith and repentance as being necessary before baptism and this no child can do untill he is old enough to understand sin and what to do to be saved. Infant baptism became prominent when churches began teaching baptism and other sacraments to save the soul and remit sin. Such practice makes it impossible to obey Christs command later without admitting infant-baptism was of no benifit. Since there are so many Scriptural reasons why infant-baptism should not be practiced and since it has no efficay it would be best to wait untill the child turns to God by faith and repents of sins of their own free will before it becomes baptised. Baptism is a symbol of the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and it is a testimony to all the world that the individual has been saved from a life of sin and that the individual is now walking in newness of life. It is only people who are followers of Jesus that are commanded to be baptized. (Read Matt. 28:19-20; Mark 16:15-16; and Acts 2:38-39). The repentant thief on the cross at Jesus crucifiction was never baptized yet Jesus told him that "To-day shalt thou be with me in paradise" (Luke 23:43). So the truth is Baptism alone is actually not necessary for salvation. The purpose of baptism is not to save the soul, sanctify one, or make us children of God, Jesus did that through His death and resurrection. The sole purpose of baptism is plainly taught as being figurative and not litterally a clensing from sin. The palsied man of Matt. 9:1-7 was saved without water baptism: "Jesus seeing their faith [not their water baptism] said . . . thy sins be forgiven thee . . . the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins." Jesus did not baptize one person in all His ministry but He did remit sins of many people (John 4:2). This is sufficient proof that sins can be remitted without water baptism. There are many cases of remission of sins and healing which were done by faith without water baptism (Matt. 9:22; Mark 5:34; 10:52; Luke 7:48' 17:19; 18:42; Acts 3:16). An unnamed woman sinner was forgiven her sins before and without water baptism. Jesus said, "Her sins, which are many are forgiven . . . thy sins be forgiven . . . thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace (Luke 7:36-50). If Jesus allowed adults forgiveness and entry to heaven without baptizm, then why would He expect Children to be baptized to guarantee entry to heaven? Many more scriptures fill the Bible showing adults being saved without water baptism. What about people who have never ever heard of Jesus, or the gospel? Are these many billons of people doomed to Hell? No way at all. Scripture shows that God does have a basis of dealing with people, even heathens, who have never heard of the Gospel. God will deal with them on the basis of the light they have recieved, and on the basis of obeying their own conscience. Read Romans 2:12-16.

  13. Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground DOES THAT FLESH HAVE ANY LIFE IN AND OF ITSELF? DOES IT BREATHE? WALK? TALK? THINK? OR IS IT JUST THE 'FORM' OF A soon to be living, breathing, thinking and feeling MAN? THAT 'FORM' SO COMPLETE IT EVEN HAS NOSTRILS AND ALL THE EQUIPTMENT TO GO WITH IT, JUST HAS NO LIFE WHAT SO EVER. IT WAS JUST 'EARTH' IN THE FORM OF A MAN, STANDING THERE. COULD HAVE STOOD THERE A BILLION YEARS AND IT WOULD STILL just BE DIRT. BUT THEN GOD breathed into his nostrils the breath of life AND ONLY AFTER THAT WHEN THAT 'DIRT' HAD received GODS 'BREATH OF LIFE' DID it become a man, a living soul. THE DIRT OF THE EARTH IS NOT LIFE, IT IS THE 'CONTAINER' HOLDING THE SPIRIT/SOUL WHILE ON THE EARTH AND WHEN IT IS TIME TO LEAVE THE EARTH AND GO BACK TO GOD, THAT DIRT GOES RIGHT BACK TO WHERE IT WAS BEFORE BUT that spirit/soul doesn't die, doesn't change, doesn't become someone else, no, THAT SPIRIT/SOUL LEAVES THAT DIRT behind AND GOES on TO HEAVEN. AND GOD IN HIS INFINITE WISDOM, made sure there was a 'body' for that spirit/soul also, 'a celestial' body. AND we know this because of things like 1 Corinth 15 and 1 Thess 4 and Rev 19 and Rev 22. And every word we utter....and the measure in which we judge....EVEN to judge another mans servant... So much of the flesh, but that is what 'the letter of it' does. Word to the wise. John 6:56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. John 6:57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. John 6:58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. This is not a literal 'eating' of His actual flesh, is it? No, so that would make it a __________ eating. John 6:62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before? John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth, the flesh profiteth nothing THE WORDS THAT I SPEAK UNTO YOU, THEY ARE SPIRIT AND THEY ARE LIFE. Psalms 139:13 For you formed my inward parts. You covered me in womb of my mother (thou didst weave me together in my mother's womb) 7069 qanah - to get, acquire 5526 cakak - cover to overshadow, screen, cover (thou didst weave me together in my mother's womb) KIDNEY BELIEVE THIS as it is written John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. or believe this as it is NOT written John 6:51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: (BUT NOT REALLY BECAUSE BEFORE 'LIVING FOREVER' YOU FIRST MUST DIE, AND STAY DEAD, REMAIN IN THE GROUND FOR HOWEVER LONG IT TAKES FOR ME TO RETURN AND WHEN I RETURN I WILL RAISE YOU FROM THAT GRAVE AND THEN AFTER HAVING BEEN RAISED FROM THAT, THEN MY PROMISE BECOMES TRUE) and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.

  15. Having someone to be accountable to helps, you can find this in fellowship. But fellowship offers so much more. Freindship, corporate worship, all kinds of thing, I would separate myself from that if I had a choice Hebrews 10:25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.

  16. Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; Who comforteth us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God. - 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 (KJV) We need fellowship to grow, and to practice all the "one anothers" in the New Testament. You cannot comfort, meet needs for, etc. for someone else if you are not present to help or provide those things in the verses I quoted. Comforting someone means face to face interaction in most cases, though there are some exceptions. There are no "lone ranger" Christians in the body of Christ.

  17. The biggest problem with that gospel is that its all about money and healing. Love is the greatest and yet it takes back seat to personal prosperity. How about giving out of love, and not to gain more wealth? And how about Pauls words that say we will be content with food and clothing? Does a prosperity preacher ever teach that? How can they when they live in a mansion? If i follow them i want a mansion too. I want to be like my teacher, thats the point of a disciple. We cant all live in mansions though, and Paul says to be content with lifes necessities.

This isnt what the parable means though, in my opinion. I dont put much trust in preachers but the word gets sown in my heart by the scriptures.

  20. Tuesday 4-20-21 Iyar 7, 5781 3rd. day of the weekly cycle, 32nd. Spring Day OMER COUNT - WEEK 4 - - Moses APRIL 20 - APRIL 26 NETZACH – ENDURANCE During the fourth week of counting the Omer, we examine and refine the emotional attribute of endurance known as Netzach. Netzach means endurance, fortitude and ambition and is a combination of determination and tenacity. It is a balance of patience, persistence and guts. Endurance is also being reliable and accountable, which establishes security and commitment. Without endurance, any good endeavor or intention has no chance of success. Endurance means to be alive, to be driven by what counts. It is the readiness to fight for what you believe, to go all the way. This, of course, requires that endurance be closely examined to ensure that it is used in a healthy and productive manner. Day 22 – Iyar 7 – April 20 - Chesed of Netzach: Loving-kindness in Endurance Psalm 119:169-176; I Cor. 15:57-58 For anything to endure it needs to be loved. A neutral or indifferent attitude will reflect in a marginal commitment. If you have difficulty making commitments, examine how much you love and enjoy the object that requires your commitment. Do I love my work? My family? My choices? For endurance to be effective it needs to be caring and loving. Does my endurance cause me to be, or seem to be, inflexible? Does my drive and determination cause me to be controlling? Am I too demanding? Do others (my employees, friends, children) cooperate with me out of the sheer force of my will and drive, or out of love? Exercise for the day: When fighting for something you believe in, pause a moment to ensure that it is accomplished in a loving manner. Love always Walter and Debbie

  24. Hy Whyme, This is my favourite parable. I have been involved with soil, seeds, plants, and fruit all my life (66years and 7months). As a child I did a project and display on Seed Dispersal for a nature exhibition in which entrants were judged by experts. It's amazing how many ways there are in nature for seeds to be dispersed, wind, water, and waste being highly successful methods. By waste I mean deposits from animals who have eaten things with seeds in them. The idea for velcro came from an observation of seeds with little hooks attached to surfaces, effectively allowing them to hitch a ride somewhere suitable for them to germinate and grow into plants. Some plants have pods that burst or explode sending seeds out with some force. I mention natural methods of seed dispersal to emphasise that God has ordained for seeds to be dispersed in various ways, and of course one of those ways is by human ingenuity and effort, which brings us to our parable. In the parable the sower doesn't seem to be concerned that some of the seed being scattered is falling where it will fail to thrive, presumably because there is sufficient seed to get good coverage of the prepared ground where cultivation, fertilisation, irrigation, and nurture will be rewarded with a good crop. The transformation of the marginal wayside, the stony hardpan, and the thorn-choked wasteland into fertile, beneficial, productive ground happens according to God's Plan and Design, and many are the testimonies that bear witness to this. Copied with Author's Permission DIVINE METAMORPHOSIS Evidence Of Change Part One: WILDERNESS, WASTEPLACES, DESERT. These thoughts are an isolated wilderness of loneliness In a mind remote and inaccessible; Inhospitable, cut-off, shut-off; No-one comes here. These lives are forsaken waste places of rejection In a world hopeless and confused; Neglected, meaningless, abandoned; Nothing useful here. These hearts are a dry desert of defeat In a soul solitary and sad; Scorched, blistered, bare; Nowhere to grow here. Part Two: GARDEN, DWELLING PLACES, OASIS. Now these thoughts are a glorious garden of communion In a mind close and reachable; Accommodating, inviting, welcoming; We have fellowship here. Now these lives are treasured dwelling places of acceptance In a world hopeful and learning; Nourished, meaningful, belonging; We have stewardship here. Now these hearts are a well-watered oasis of victory In a soul sociable and glad; Refreshed, healed, abounding; We have worship here. Part Three: CHANGE, TRANSFIGURE, TRANSFORM. Transform these thoughts from wilderness to garden, From waste places to dwelling places, these lives transfigure, Hearts from desert to oasis change, Your metamorphosis divinely trigger. 30-01-03 Scriptural Inspiration: Isaiah 51:3

  25. Sure. the 30 60 or 100 fold are the return from the grace of God that is given us from salvation. Some people produce more than others. IF you want to call them, fruit or works, they follow salvation (To me this has always been for analogous to grain as opposed to fruit, as one seed produces a stalk that has many seeds.) The dispersal of those works really doesn't come into it as God has each of us tending our own field with varying results. the 30, 60, 100 is quantifying representative number for the whole of your production. And each is blessed by God When we are saved we will do good works (bear fruit) Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast. 10 For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them. No matter what seed you plant, whether a grain of wheat or a fruit pit. If it is put in good ground and tended....it WILL bear fruit. This connects to what Jesus said and did. Cursing the barren fig tree because it did not bear fruit as was it's nature, or likening those who are in the vine but not bearing fruit be chopped off and new vines being grafted in. Again works (bearing fruit) are the natural result of being saved. We are not saved by them, we are saved to them, and if we are not doing good works, bearing good fruit, then we need to check our faith because it is probably dead.

  27. Revelation 5:6 And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. The word "midst", in the Greek, is 'meros' which literally means "the middle". In the 'meros' of the throne in heaven is the Lamb of God. The very focus of heaven -- the center of attention -- is the Lamb of God! So often we receive emails asking specific doctrinal questions about this new "revelation" or that new "teaching", and the very first thing I must ask myself is -- is Yeshua (Jesus) in the center? If all of heaven is centered on the Lamb of God, how much should every doctrine be centered on Him? And how much more should our lives be centered on the Lamb that was slain for us? The Lord expects us to test all things (1 John 4:1), and see if they are of God. Let's not get distracted with doctrines in which He is not the center. Read the entire devotional.

  32. I joined searching for Christian fellowship but had a hard time learning to use this forum. So I found another one but the other members were extremely abusive and unChristlike. So I came back here and soon found that I had to dig into the Scriptures to answer many of the questions people were asking. I had to be sure I quoted them correctly. This was a very good exercise because I really Love God's word and applying it to my own life. In addition, this forum was monitored well enough that very few have been abusive toward me. That is probably why I stayed. I like what someone said quoting 1 Cor. 1 1Co 1:26 For consider your calling, brothers: not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth. 1Co 1:27 But God chose what is foolish in the world to shame the wise; God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong; 1Co 1:28 God chose what is low and despised in the world, even things that are not, to bring to nothing things that are, 1Co 1:29 so that no human being might boast in the presence of God. 1Co 1:30 And because of him you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, righteousness and sanctification and redemption, 1Co 1:31 so that, as it is written, "Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord." Those who are pedantic and proud about their education and positions may be short on the greatest gift--LOVE. They may be wanting in allowing the Holy Spirit to minister through them. But they still need OUR compassion and prayers. God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. And even though I hate to be humbled, I pray that God keep me that way. It is only in dying to self that we are born to eternal life.

  34. So how "many" is "many"? According to the provided article, no causal link has been established between the vaccine and the deaths. There were 7 clotting deaths after 18.1 millions vaccine doses. So even if there was a causal link (again - which has not been established), the risk is 1 in more-than 2.5 million. There are much higher adverse risks (including death) associated with most over-the-counter medications. I think it is also worth noting that these potentially-suspicious deaths are only reported in association with 1 of the 4 available vaccines.

I have found that a few people come by now and then asking questions and I can offer prayers and information. Why I am still here would be a serious addiction (and God won't let me leave). I enjoy talking with you folks.... even if we don't agree on everything.

  39. I was going through a bad time and needed guidance and prayer. I ended up sticking around after and I'm glad I did.

  40. I was listening to Joyce Meyer for about 18 months before I got saved. She was the first person who showed me how the Bible could be applied practically, and some of it was really useful stuff. However, she taught that God just wants me to treat myself to a nice coffee and help me with my tasks that day...true of course, but I dont remember her ever preaching the Gospel. If she did, it went right over my head. Easter Sunday, 2019-over a year after listening to Meyer, I listened to a podcast by John Piper on the crucifixion, and that was it...I finally understood. I never realised I was a sinner who had no chance of getting into heaven without Jesus's sacrifice. Joyce is theological fluff...she has some points but theres no eternal substance.
