  1. (Hebrews 2:16) For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham. (Hebrews 2:17) Therefore he had to be made like his brothers in every respect, so that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in the service of God, to make propitiation for the sins of the people. (Hebrews 2:18) For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. [ESV]

  2. (Hebrews 2:10) For it was fitting that he, for whom and by whom all things exist, in bringing many sons to glory, should make the founder of their salvation perfect through suffering. (Hebrews 2:11) For he who sanctifies and those who are sanctified all have one source. That is why he is not ashamed to call them brothers, (Hebrews 2:12) saying, “I will tell of your name to my brothers; in the midst of the congregation I will sing your praise.” (Hebrews 2:13) And again, “I will put my trust in him.” And again, “Behold, I and the children God has given me.” (Hebrews 2:14) Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, he himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil, (Hebrews 2:15) and deliver all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery. 4. Pray for them. My dad was a hostile atheist to the point he refused to pay for college if we went to Christian colleges. And refused to attend weddings if we were married in a church. We grew up hearing about the Spanish inquisition and how weak people use God as an excuse. Honestly my mom said she was Christian but her morals and ideas lined up closer to Luciferianism. And she hushed any Christian talk (not to offend my dad). I heard about Jesus from a neighbor and went to youth rallies with friends. My friends mom used to read the Bible to us when I stayed the night. My brother rebelled first and went to Christian college without our parents help. He would blast Christian music in His room with the door locked. I being his baby girl got married in a church againt his threats and protest. He was cracking and proudly walked me down the isle. I think he realized his Christian children were not weak but amazingly loving and strong. Long story short my dad is not hostile towards Christianity anymore and confesses Christ and prays with us and for us now. Glory to God. So pray for them and keep exposing them to the word. Jesus is the one who saves have faith in him. He excepted and suported you. Be a christian and love your family and serve.

John 15:12-17 (MKJV) 12 This is My commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 No one has greater love than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for the servant does not know what his master does. But I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 You have not chosen Me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain; that whatever you shall ask of the Father in My name, He may give it to you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.

  11. Hi Charlie, Ahhh... we meet again.... Yes, I agree Greece was the third kingdom in King Nebs statue Greece may have been conquered by Rome, but I don't believe they are the fourth kingdom of King Neb's statue. Rome was not the 4th kingdom, nor was it the 5th kingdom. It was in fact the 6th kingdom. The Seleucid Dynasty was the 4th kingdom and the Parthian Kingdom was the 5th. Many equate Rome to the iron kingdom because their weapons' were made of iron, I think???? Apart from that, there is no reason to have Rome as the 4th kingdom. I will give reasons why tomorrow. It's been a loooong day for me. And this will be a lengthy response. Till then.....

It offers the only real prospect of achieving fundamental economic transition. And the really big question is.... "Who is "HE" that Charles is talking about. And they had battles and had scuffles for power to restore the Empire but none of them were able to restore Alexander's Empire. So it broke up. Im sure you know who was the little horn that desicrated the temple after that? (I would have to look up the spelling of his name) Is that what your looked for? I think its in Maccabees. 18. Have you ever wondered who the “Nicolaitans” were, mentioned in the book of Revelation? Whoever they were, Jesus loathed their doctrine and hated their deeds. Let’s delve into this subject today to see if we can ascertain the identity of this group. What was their damnable doctrine? What deeds were they committing that elicited such a strong reaction from Jesus? Let’s begin in Revelation 2:6, where Jesus told the church of Ephesus, “But this thou hast [in your favor], that thou hatest the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate.” Jesus was proud of the church of Ephesus for their “hatred” of the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which He also “hated.” The word “hate” is a strong word, so let’s see exactly what it means. It comes from the Greek word miseo, which means to hate, to abhor, or to find utterly repulsive. It describes a person who has a deep-seated animosity, who is antagonistic to something he finds to be completely objectionable. He not only loathes that object, but rejects it entirely. This is not just a case of dislike; it is a case of actual hatred. The thing Jesus hated about them was their “deeds.” The word “deeds” is the Greek word erga, which means works. However, this word is so all-encompassing that it pictures all the deeds and behavior of the Nicolaitans — including their actions, beliefs, conduct, and everything else connected to them. Possible answers: 1. The name “Nicolaitans” is derived from the Greek word nikolaos, a compound of the words nikos and laos. The word nikos is the Greek word that means to conquer or to subdue. The word laos is the Greek word for the people. It is also where we get the word laity. When these two words are compounded into one, they form the name Nicolas, which literally means one who conquers and subdues the people. It seems to suggest that the Nicolaitans were somehow conquering and subduing the people. 2. Possible derivative of Nicolas who was “a proselyte of Antioch.”According to the writings of the Early Church leaders, Nicolas taught a doctrine of compromise, implying that total separation between Christianity and the practice of occult paganism was not essential. From Early Church records, it seems apparent that this Nicolas of Antioch was so immersed in occultism, Judaism, and Christianity that he had a stomach for all of it. He had no problem intermingling these belief systems in various concoctions and saw no reason why believers couldn’t continue to fellowship with those still immersed in the black magic of the Roman empire and its countless mystery cults. 3. They were a heretical sect who followed the teachings of Nicolas—whose name means “one who conquers the people”—who was possibly one of the deacons of the early church mentioned in Acts 6:5. It is possible that Nicolas became an apostate, denying the true faith and became part of a group holding "the doctrine of Balaam," who taught Israel "to sin by eating food sacrificed to idols and by committing sexual immorality." Clement of Alexandria says, “They abandoned themselves to pleasure like goats, leading a life of self-indulgence.” Their teaching perverted grace and replaced liberty with license. 4. Nicolaitans were not so called from any man, but from the Greek word Nicolah, meaning "let us eat," as they often encouraged each other to eat things offered to idols. Whichever theory is true, it is certain that the deeds of the Nicolaitans were an abomination to Christ. They, like the Gnostics and other false teachers, abused the doctrine of grace and tried to introduce licentiousness in its place. Who ever they were, I don't want to be like them! What are your thoughts?

  19. Rev 20:4. And I saw thrones, and they sat on them, and judgment was committed to them. Then I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for their witness to Jesus and for the word of God, who had not worshiped the beast or his image, and had not received his mark on their foreheads or on their hands. And they lived and reigned with Christ for a thousand years. Here John could see the souls. Someday we will know what that means. I believe that the soul is the true self--personality, will, emotions. values etc. In heaven it will be cleansed of all sin and imperfection. However, since these souls had been beheaded we can assume that they are not connected to the earthly bodies. I don't really give a rip what any commentator says. Their ideas are pie in the sky if they are not founded on Scripture. I have noticed that those who think there is no immortal soul or salvation of the soul usually base their assumptions on the Old Testament. We have a more complete revelation of future things in the New Testament. I prefer to find my doctrine in the New Testament. Heb 10:39. But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul. 1Pe 1:9 obtaining the outcome of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

  22. Hi. This book may or may not be written by Paul. At the very least, it's probably written by a fellow traveler with Paul, imho. So Paul's other writings are being copied and passed from church to church. One book might not contain all his thoughts. If you know where you are going after death, that you who are in Christ Jesus, will reign with Him after death. I don't see an easy transition to physical death here. The Christians who died in the Colosseum, probably took comfort knowing they'd be with Jesus after they shed this mortal clothing. I'm not sure what you mean here. Jesus taught to be faithful to the end.

The church has been celebrating christmas, on December 25th no less well before the Catholic church celebrated it. Its not a catholic holiday. To say otherwise is ignorant of the facts. Weve already established that your dating methods are completely unscriptural and false. Which pretty much eradicates your entire argument... When the fact is the date is irrelevent. Theres nowhere in the Bible that says you have to celebrate christmas on a certain date. And its not a commanded holiday. It is a day many christians choose to celebrate Christ. Until you can show where the Bible commands us NOT to celebrate Christ, then you have zero ground to stand on.

Forgive my hidden faults. 13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. 41. Rev 2:6 But this you have, that you hate the deeds of the Nicolaitans, which I also hate. Rev 2:15 Thus you also have those who hold the doctrine of the Nicolaitans, which thing I hate. Cults that pervert the Gospel with their doctrine and exercise excessive control with their deeds have been termed Nicolaitan based on the following: Quote on Rev 2:15 from the Believer's Bible Commentary: The doctrine of the Nicolaitans is not defined. Many Bible scholars feel that these were libertines, teaching that those under grace were free to practice idolatry and sexual sins. Dr. C. I. Scofield, however, links the doctrine with the rise of the clerical system: It is the doctrine that God has instituted an order of “clergy” or priests, as distinguished from the “laity.” The word is formed from two Greek words, niko, conqueror or overcomer, and laos, the people. The New Testament knows nothing of a “clergyman,” still less of a priest, except as all sons of God in this dispensation are “a royal priesthood.” In the apostolic church there were offices: elders (or bishops) and deacons; and gifts: apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers (Eph_4:11). These might or might not be elders or deacons. But late in the apostolic period there emerged a disposition to arrogate to elders alone authority to administer ordinances, and, generally, to constitute themselves a class between God and the people; they were the Nicolaitans. You will observe that what were “deeds” in the Ephesus or late apostolic period, had become a “doctrine” two hundred years later in the Pergamos or Constantine period.

With total viewership in the several millions for several of the high-ranked Fox programs, it would appear that the bulk of viewership falls in the even older demographic, which probably makes sense. 48. Someone recently had some criticism to express about how some of us charged with administering the forums conduct our tasks there. Their criticism is not without merit, and it expressed largely the idea, that we administrators are too tolerant of heretics and have a higher accountability to God than to allow that. I realize that he was not alone in that opinion, and because of that, I decided to offer some thoughts about that here in my blog. I am accountable to God, and I agree that as a moderator, I have higher accountability than "regular members" here on the forums. I have a job to do here, and that is to enforce the Terms of Service, and try to keep some order and peace, etc. There are rules here, and enforcement is part of my task here, but not to be a forum cop, but to try to minister to others here. Being a cop here, is unrealistic anyway. Imagine a community, of 60,000 people, who are awake at all hours of the day, every day of the week, being policed by a handful of people as a part time job. It just is not possible, but that is analogous to the situation at Worthy. This is not church. This is a community of people of faith, people with erroneous (missing the true God) religions, and people of no faith whatsoever. Here, I am in the world, and not of it. I am here more to bring light to those in darkness, than to protect the sheep. I want to see the sheep grow, and learn to protect themselves and others. We are not attempting to make a place where Christians can retreat from the world and hide from it's ugly realities. Never the less, those who participate, are free to choose to do so, in areas that are safe. If one does not want to see arguments and friction, name calling and the like, one can go to a praise and poetry section, view shared photographs, enter into prayer and not the enter the areas of theological and political discussion. You know the phrase: “If you cannot stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen!” Makes perfect sense. As I said, we are not attempting to make this a place of retreat only, this is not a sanctuary. The church tried that after the rise of Darwinism and the industrial revolution. Rather than engage Darwinism and science on that footing, embracing the fact that in God and the Bible is truth, and that the Spirit will guide, much of the church withdrew into congregations and safe havens, while other people thought:. "We do not need religion or God, we have science and technology now!" Some of the church embraced: If you can't beat 'em, withdraw from them. The church withdrew from the world, it left politics, entertainment, and education in the hands of the world, and the result has been devastating. "Well, maybe there is something to this evolution stuff, maybe Christianity should be evolutionary, we can change the faith." If you can't beat them, join them. That resulted in seeker friendly churches, something that is going on today, more than ever. It results in a watered down gospel that cannot lead to salvation, but at least no one is offended. Big churches filled with lost people who do not hear the answers they need to questions they do not even know to ask. There is a better way. Not "if you cannot beat them, isolate from them", not "if you cannot beat them, join them". I suggest another: "BEAT THEM" When you have what we have here at Worthy, you have enemies of God, and friends of God, and enemies of God who are future friends of God. Some of His the friends, do not have the answers - yet! They are ill equipped to provide what they do not know. They live their lives among wolves who will prey on their innocence. Some of the friends are shepherds. They do protect the sheep. They provide answers to challenges issued by the wolves. Here, they do not drive the wolves off always, because the wolves also need to hear the answers, hear the gospel. Some wolves may (and some have) become sheep and even shepherds themselves. Sometimes the wolves are driven away. We ban some. Some wolves just walk away, not even understanding enough to be sad about it. Pity - pray for them as well as for the sheep. I myself was an Atheist, now a Christian of over 40 years and I am grateful to God for those among His own, who were patient enough to want to reach me for Him, and teach me, not just refute me and attempt to ridicule me and call me names. All that would have accomplished is to show me that Christians are not loving and interested in my soul, just interested in winning arguments or maybe winning merit badges with a God that I was certain did not exist. By not driving the wolves away, the wolves get answered, they get responded to. In this, the sheep hear the answers. This bolsters their faith, and teaches them how to respond to the wolves of their own lives, be that in the work place, the marketplace, their neighborhoods, their families, social media, and even their churches. If they learn it right, they learn the facts AND they learn to respond with humility, reverence, and love, such that even their "enemies" (which God has commanded them to love) have to admit the sheep were respectful and kind, and yet not powerless victims either. Here on the forums, light and darkness meet. However, they do not have to blend together. They can and should remain clearly separate and distinct. No compromise is expected, but kindness is. We cannot control what the other guy does or says, but we can and are expected to control what we say. Why give the other guy an excuse for legitimate criticism. Expose their heresies, and fallacies, but there is no need to be dismissive, mean, condescending, rude, abusive, abrasive, insulting name callers, and the like. I know I fail to live up to those standards, but I am trying to improve. Jesus may have been seemed harsh at times, in some of those aspects in certain situations with specific people, no doubt about that. However, be mindful of this: We are not God, we are not Jesus, we are not all knowing, we are not perfect. In fact, we are more like our sinner "adversary". than we are like Jesus. Jesus died for our adversaries in the forums, and our opponents were created in God's image, the same as we were. Let's try to keep these things in our minds in our conversations with others. There is bound to be some friction. That is normal. However, let's see that for our parts, there is light, not just smoke and heat.
