Thanks Hazard ,

That's my take on it too, they both didn't see death , this could be the picture of Enoch and Elijah being the 2 witnesses.

It is only speculation but my guess is Elijah and Enoch.

Imho Enoch is not part of the olive tree (Hebrew), he is not descendant of Avraham n did not appear to witness Jesus transfiguration.

Have you considered the Apostle John?  Out of all the apostles, there is no firm evidence that John actually died.  He was given the vision of Revelation when he was very old and yet was told in that vision that, “You must prophesy again about many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.”

Jesus also made several peculiar remarks regarding the apostle John, including this statement, “If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you?”

Everything that Jesus said or did was for a reason.  He would not have said this unless it was important.

Very good, except that you beat me to it! :D Here is my similar recent post on another string:

Moses and Elijah represented the Law and the Prophets of the dispensation/Age of the Law, which ended at the First Coming of the Messiah.

We are now in the Church Age, with a different priesthood and law. Therefore, it is appropriate that the two witnesses represent the end of this age, just and Moses and Elijah appeared in the Transfiguration to represent the end of their age.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

I highly suspect that John the Apostle will be one of the two witnesses, to fulfill the prophecy of this verse:

Rev. 10:11 And he said to me, “You must prophesy again before many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings.”

definition CONTEXT: the parts of a discourse that surround a word or passage that can throw light on its meaning.

After the beast from the bottomless pit kills the two witnesses (Revelation 11:7); and a few days pass (Revelation 11:11), at which time the Lord then commences to reign (Revelation 11:15); it is then time to commence rewarding the saints, while at the same time the Lords wrath commences to destroy those who have been destroying the earth (Revelation 11:18).

The context of the chapter, indicates the two witnesses will have been testifying to the destruction of the earth its inhabitants are causing, which today is through fossil fuels.

Revelation 11:18 And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Jesus with Moses And Elijah

the first time n the Bible a vision was shared by 3 people  which is why Jesus said hey you can’t tell anybody about this

Thats been debated, but makes sense

My high school best friend and I would be most pleased to do that work for the Lord....   Maybe he'll pick one or both of us....   since we don't really know, it's up for thoughts and dreams isn't it.    Maybe it could even be any of you.

Are you willing to let the Holy Spirit preach through you for a while and then let the antichrist kill you?     I'd volunteer, how about you all.

Not mine but your will be done

I would say it’s easy to say I would jump into a fiery furnace when posting on a forum, Remember the son of God devoid from sin even asked that the cup be removed ( it showed how human he was as well as divine)

If the situation called for it I would like to think I would climb on that cross, but my flesh might have other ideas

The Messiah’s biggest sacrifice wasn’t his body- it was his will “ your will be done” ignoring the fleshly desire to just get up and run

Jesus knew the scripture he knew Isaiah 53 .. he knew this was going to be a cruel death but surrendered to his Fathers will

thats why he is our high priest who goes to the Father for our sins because he felt those temptations he knew what it was like to feel fear and be of flesh

( the Holy Spirit got into me I got off topic) ?

would I be willing to sacrifice myself?

Not my will but His be done

I just noticed this topic. Unfortunately, I have absolutely nothing to offer since I have not started to study Revelation - I am on the process of attempting to complete a commentary on Daniel before moving to Revelation.

However, I would like to ask if anyone responding to this post if they might be willing to provide a simple (if possible) bullet list of the 3, 4 or 5 characteristics, actions (to them or things they will do), etc., that can be used to try and identify them.

 Thanks, Charlie

I have some light here maybe…humor me would you?

This subject touches on what is happening on earth at or near the end of the age. This means that we are looking at the completion of God’s original intent for all of creation. What is that original intent but that God said Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness.” They were to be fruitful and multiply and subdue and rule every living thing on the earth. This is His stated desire…He is doing it to be sure, Christ is the first born of “many” Sons, or the “pattern” Son…the “standard” and the “staff like measuring rod.”

The idea that the bible doesn’t tell us who the two witnesses are, doesn’t seem consistent with the Lord’s character…we need revelation…meaning we need to be told, shown…in our spirits by Him. Is He not able to tell us? Indeed He is quite capable of telling us and perhaps He has…Maybe it’s in how we approach the subject that is in need of adjustment? Let’s take another look.

“Then there was given me a measuring rod like a staff; and someone said, "Get up and measure the temple of God and the altar, and those who worship in it.  2  "Leave out the court which is outside the temple and do not measure it, for it has been given to the nations; and they will tread under foot the holy city for forty-two months.  3  "And I will grant authority to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy for twelve hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth."  4  These are the two olive trees and the two lampstands that stand before the Lord of the earth.” Rev 11:1-4 NASB

Of all the approaches I have seen to understanding who the two witnesses are…rarely have I seen consideration given to the contextual reality that brings them forth?  If we consider that “they” (witnesses) emerge out of the measuring of the House of God...measuring thenaos” the actual presence of God Himself, measuring the altar, measuring those who worship there...one thing that we can see that materializes out of this measurement is an understanding of “their” maturity and ability to perfectly represent the Lord on the earth. It would seem that vs. 5&6 tell us that very thing…agreed?

It is depicted as two witnesses. So, what we want to do is to look closely at the essence of the characteristics of these two witnesses. Remember it is quite typical for the Lord to send two witnesses: He sent the disciples (human) out two by two; He also speaks of the two symbols of water and the word as bearing “witness,” i.e. “olive trees and lampstands.” We are looking into the meaning of this symbology while allowing the Holy Spirit to “tell” or “show” us what He means.

What witness emerges out of the measurement of the House of God? Well as He measures the House of God, it is judged to be perfect…because God Himself has built the house.

What has God built? Instead of thinking about two humans or two personages, one should see that, in the manner of God sending a reliable testimony, the reference is to two witnesses or perhaps two types/symbols of witness. The symbols John saw in the heavens that day…point to that which is existent on the earth…at the time to which the prophecy is appointed to come in to existence.

What are the characteristics that would identify these two witnesses as representing the epitome, or the two things that testify as to the level of maturity that has been attained, if this is a man in the image and likeness of God?”

When Yahshua came, He is the type of this…perfection according to His Father. He Himself said that His witness or His testimony was both what He said and what the Father who sent Him said. He said that the Father who sent Him bore witness of Him being the sent One. Now at the baptism of Yahshua in the river Jordan, there was actually the appearing of the divine witnesses: the Spirit and the Father. The Spirit descended on Him in the form of a dove; the Father testified as to who He was.

Yahshua would refer back to that whenever He was challenged or questioned by the Jews, and principally the religious leaders of the Jews, at the time. He would say, “I have no need for your affirmation of Me, because the One who has sent Me has testified concerning Me. The works I do and the words I speak, they are not My own. It is the Father living in Me who is doing His work. His point is, “If you do not believe what I actually say, at least believe Me for the works that I do, because the works I do testify as to who I am.”

So that is the nature that is behind the two witnesses…see it? It is important for us then to understand who the two witnesses are. And they appear in duplicate, two and two: there are two olive trees and two lampstands (touch that later). The repeating function of the two testifying is for the purpose of authenticating that word. The Scriptures even say, “Where two agree as touching a matter, it shall be so.

“But leave out the court which is outside the temple, and do not measure it, for it has been given to the Gentiles. And they will tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. And I will give power to my two witnesses, and they will prophesy one thousand two hundred and sixty days, clothed in sackcloth” (Revelation 11:2-3 NKJV).

The Gentiles will be rampaging at the same time. They will trample and tread the holy city underfoot for forty-two months. So while Yahshua lived on the earth and represented the Father in the epitome of the Spirit of God, and the word of the Father, and the acts of the Father, the unbelievers…although they were Jews, they were unbelievers. It is a reference to how they made the temple into a den of thieves and were no better. Even though the temple had been given to them, they were no better than the Gentiles, which are, in this connotation and in this context, heathen or unbelieving.

At the same time God says, “I will empower My two witnesses,”...for the same time period...“and they will prophesy.” This means they will authentically represent Christ…completely clothed with the Glory of God...on earth…living in like fashion as the Christ Himself did.

This measured and judged people of God will exhibit two characteristics for the same period that the unbelievers on the temple grounds, the unbelievers in proximity to the real House of God, during that time there will be this conflict.

There is more to say…this is enough for now I suppose.

May His revelation feed you.

Tatwo…:)

The Two Witnesses :: By Scott Harris

by RRadmin7 Category:General Articles

The Two Witnesses really captivate my deep thoughts. I believe it’s because they are two men standing boldly amid a world filled with evil, delivering the final messages of truth to people who have not totally hardened their hearts and souls.

These men will proclaim the Gospel Truth to the world in a final struggle to affirm Christ Jesus as Lord and Savior – and declare His offer of glorious salvation to anyone who will accept their message.

Here are some of the unique attributes of the two witnesses as described in Revelation 11:3-6.

* Christ Jesus personally appoints them for this task.

* They will prophesy for 1,260 days (3 ½ years).

* They will wear sackcloth.

* They are “the two olive trees” and the “two lampstands.”

* If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies.

* They have power to stop it from raining during the time they are prophesying.

* They have power to turn the waters into blood.

* They can strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want.

These men will speak pure truth as bestowed on them by Christ Jesus. They will preach in Jerusalem, and their message will be aimed at the Jews. They will be broadcast internationally, no doubt, and people all over the world will be amazed at them and their message. Their presence and message will declare Almighty God’s impending judgment on this world.

Almighty God will continue to provide the opportunity for repentance to both Jew and Gentile. Remember what is written in 2 Peter 3:9; “The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead, he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.”

Additionally, John wrote in Revelation 7:9-10 that he saw a great multitude beyond human computation coming from “all nations,” “kindreds,” “people,” and “tongues” standing before the throne, clothed with white robes, with palms in their hands, ascribing salvation to Almighty God and to the Lamb. This passage affirms that Gentiles and Jews will be saved during the Tribulation.

Have you ever been curious as to why there will be two witnesses instead of just one? The answer to that is found in scripture. For the Jews, two witnesses were mandatory to fulfill the legal requirement for judgment. The three verses below provide clarity.

On the testimony of two or three witnesses, a person is to be put to death, but no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness (Deuteronomy 17:6).

One witness is not enough to convict anyone accused of any crime or offense they may have committed. A matter must be established by the testimony of two or three witnesses (Deuteronomy 19:15).

Anyone who kills a person is to be put to death as a murderer only on the testimony of witnesses. But no one is to be put to death on the testimony of only one witness (Numbers 35:30).

One of the great conversations that Christians have about the two witnesses is “who are they,” and is there anything in scripture that gives us that answer? I personally believe that Moses and Elijah will be the two witnesses as spoken of in the Holy Bible. Please let me explain in greater detail how and why I came to this conclusion.

Each of the scriptural references below points toward these two men as being ideal for the task ahead in the Tribulation.

“There he was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and his clothes became as white as the light. Just then there appeared before them Moses and Elijah, talking with Jesus” (Matthew 17:2-3). If you read Mark 9:4 and Luke 9:30, you will find that both confirm what you just read.

“If anyone tries to harm them, fire comes from their mouths and devours their enemies. This is how anyone who wants to harm them must die” (Revelation 11:5). You may recall reading about how Elijah (two different times) called down fire from heaven when soldiers came to arrest him (you can read about that in 2 Kings 1). Additionally, idolaters and the enemies of Moses were destroyed by fire in Numbers 16:35.

“They have power to shut up the heavens so that it will not rain during the time they are prophesying; and they have power to turn the waters into blood and to strike the earth with every kind of plague as often as they want” (Revelation 11:6). Now consider the very same miracles performed by Moses long ago. “This is what the Lord says: By this you will know that I am the Lord: With the staff that is in my hand I will strike the water of the Nile, and it will be changed into blood.” Moses also brought forth plagues upon the Egyptians (you can read about that in Exodus 7:14-11:10).

Also, in Revelation 11:6 (as above), Elijah performed the very same miracles – preventing the heavens from raining as told to us in 1 Kings 17:1; Luke 4:25; and James 5:17. One very noteworthy fact is that the length of the drought in Elijah’s time is “exactly” the same amount of time of drought in Tribulation.

Revelation 11:3 tells us that the two witnesses will prophesy for 1,260 days, clothed in sackcloth. The three key words from that verse are the basis for why Almighty God is sending these two men.

Prophecy is to reveal by divine inspiration and to speak about imminent events without error.

For 1,260 days (3-½ years), they will speak the gospel truth – that’s half of the 7-year Tribulation.

They will be clothed in sackcloth. Wearing of sackcloth expresses mourning, submission, grief, and shame. A few examples of this are in 2 Kings 19:1; Psalm 69:11; Isaiah 37:1-2; Daniel 9:3; Joel 1:13; Jonah 3:5-8).

The ministry of the two witnesses will include preaching, prophesying, and performing miracles that demonstrate the glory and power of Almighty God. The messages they preach are to call people to repentance and to announce that the Holy Kingdom is at hand.

When they have finished their testimony, Satan will come up from the Abyss. He will kill them and leave their bodies lying in the open in Jerusalem – not giving them a burial. People (unsaved and depraved) will celebrate by sending each other gifts because the two prophets pierced the spirits of those who reject Christ Jesus and those who detest Almighty God.

For three and a half days, some from every people, tribe, language, and nation will look at their bodies and believe that they were simply false prophets and had no real power.

All the evil and ignorant people who hated the two witnesses will see the truth and power of Almighty God.The Two Witnesses :: By Scott Harris - Rapture Ready

I believe the two witnesses will be Enoch/Elijah who never experienced a physical death, as scripture states its appointed unto man once to die Hebrews 9:27

I believe there will be a 3.5 year tribulation, the 1260 days of the two witnesses Revelation 11:3 and 42 months of the beast Revelation 13:5 are "Parallel" times

    • You are coming up higher in this season – above the assignments of character assassination and verbal arrows sent to manage you, contain you, and derail your purpose. Where you have had your dreams and sleep robbed, as well as your peace and clarity robbed – leaving you feeling foggy, confused, and heavy – God is, right now, bringing freedom back -- now you will clearly see the smoke and mirrors that were set to distract you and you will disengage.

Right now God is declaring a "no access zone" around you, and your enemies will no longer have any entry point into your life. Oil is being poured over you to restore the years that the locust ate and give you back your passion. This is where you will feel a fresh roar begin to erupt from your inner being, and a call to leave the trenches behind and begin your odyssey in your Christ calling moving you to bear fruit that remains as you minister to and disciple others into their Christ identity.

This is where you leave the trenches and scale the mountain to fight from a different place, from victory, from peace, and from rest. Now watch as God leads you up higher above all the noise, above all the chaos, and shows you where you have been seated all along with Him in heavenly places where you are UNTOUCHABLE. This is where you leave the soul fight, and the mind battle, and learn to fight differently.

You will know how to live like an eagle and lead others to the same place of safety and protection that God led you to, which broke you out of the silent prison you were in. Put your war boots on and get ready to fight back! Refuse to lay down -- get out of bed and rebuke what is coming at you. Remember where you are seated and live from that place.

Acts 1:8 - “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses … to the end of the earth.”

    • Understanding the Enemy!

I thought I write about the flip side of a topic, and how to recognize the attempts of the enemy to destroy lives and how you can walk in His victory!

For the Apostle Paul taught us not to be ignorant of enemy's tactics and strategies.

2 Corinthians 2:112  Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.

So often, we can learn lessons by learning and playing "devil's" advocate.  When we read this passage,

Mar 3:26  And if Satan rise up against himself, and be divided, he cannot stand, but hath an end.
Mar 3:27  No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he will first bind the strongman; and then he will spoil his house.

Here we learn a lesson that in order to plunder one's house you must first BIND up the strongman.  While we realize in this particular passage this is referring to God binding up the strongman (Satan) and this is how Satan's house is plundered.  But if you carefully analyze the enemy -- you realize that he uses the same tactics on us!  Your house cannot be plundered -- unless you are first bound.   And then Satan can plunder your house!

    • Abraham and Issac: Pictures of the Resurrection, Part 2
      Shalom everyone,

As we continue this series the next obvious sign of the resurrection in the Old Testament is the sign of Isaac and Abraham.

Gen 22:1  After these things God tested Abraham and said to him, "Abraham!" And he said, "Here I am."
Gen 22:2  He said, "Take your son, your only son Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

So God "tests" Abraham and as a perfect picture of the coming sacrifice of God's only begotten Son (Yeshua - Jesus) God instructs Issac to go and sacrifice his son, Issac.  Where does he say to offer him?  On Moriah -- the exact location of the Temple Mount.
