  4. Daily Reading 14 If you prefer, you can look up the following verses in your own Bible, of by whatever means and in whatever version you choose. Luke 12:1-31 Genesis 21 Psalm 14 Audio 7:42 Audio 3:59 Audio 0:59 The above addresses are linked to Bible Gateway. That is an easy way to read (or listen to) the Bible verses, and choose your version. Personally, I prefer written, that way I can go at my own pace, on think about it, before moving on. Nothing wrong with doing either or both. The Bible says faith comes by hearing. See the picture below to get an idea of what to expect if you follow the about links. Thank you Lord for making the your word so accessible for us in these times. Amen

  5. "For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required" We all have the convenience of mass communication. Availability to read the Bible without persecution. More money than we can spend. Hours of time to spare, which we use to watch brain-dead t.v. shows. Online access to help. Options to volunteer, donate, offer help, etc. All of these things, on demand 24/7. I speak for myself first. What are we doing with these things which are given to us? We have an astonishing amount of 'much', but some of us fail to utilize it. "This gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come." It is our responsibility as Christians to preach the gospel to all nations, that we may "hasten the coming of the day of God, when the heavens will be dissolved by fire and the elements will melt in the heat." Don't we want Jesus to come soon? Never think to yourself, you're doing all you can. There is always more that can be done. Everyone can do something. If you can't preach and have no voice to speak. Give money to or support those who can. Buy gospel books, DVD's, CD's, and give them out. "I was afraid, and I went and hid your talent in the ground. Here, you have what is yours.’ But his master answered him, ‘You wicked and slothful servant! You knew that I reap where I have not sown and gather where I scattered no seed?"

  7. As Tonto said to the Lone Ranger when Indian's were attacking and the Ranger said we are in big trouble Tonto. What do you mean "we" kemosabe? It's okay to think of yourself, in fact each saint had better, and should take a rest time too. It is important, why God even strongly encourages it. Don't be frenzied, be calm and steadfast, put Christ into all that is done, and do all to His glory, but be calm, reasoned, and steadfast. Go into all the world, sure, but don't go dithering about and frazzled. Enjoy what God provides even in the harshest of times, read and live the 23rd Psalm (22nd for Roman Catholics). God makes an abundant feast in the safety of the tall grasses in the valley by the shadow of the mountain of evil's hiding. Is not the feast God provides to be enjoyed even in the midst of our enemies? Make the enemy feel the waste of His effort against the saints, by enjoying what God provides His own. Don't punish self for enjoying the privilege of the security of eternal life with God. Don't engage in self-meanification. Instead plan out good service and calmly go about it to the glory of God.

  8. As a former Catholic I was saved while still a Catholic but was not saved in the Catholic Church. The Catholic Church teaches that one cannot be assured of salvation. Salvation is by works (contradicting Eph. 2:8-9) and following Catholic (man made) tradition. Tradition and the Bible are considered to be on the same footing and in some cases tradition trumps the Bible especially in the case of Mary who is considered to have the power to save because they say she was born without sin. Also, the Catholic Church teaches that it is a mortal sin to believe that one is saved. This is called the "sin of presumption" and is considered a mortal sin because this is pride and God is opposed to the proud therefore this mortal sin condemns anyone who believes they are going to heaven to hell. As if this wasn't enough there is the doctrine of Purgatory that teaches that one must make atonement for their own sins invalidating the need for Jesus the Savior and contradicting Scripture (1 Jonh 5:11-13). I could go on and on about all the false doctrines and dogmas that the Catholic Church teaches and yet I must say that there are many wonderful sincere and very devout Catholics who love God, Jesus and the Bible yet are NOT saved. I was one of these. From the outside, I sounded and acted like a Christian believing that I was, because I believed in Christ and loved God with all my heart and actually tried to live a very righteous life. Yes, I knew Jesus died on the cross for the sins of the world, but somehow I never truly understood that it was personal. That He died in MY place for MY sins. The Bible is clear that our belief must be based on TRUTH and this truth is the Word of God not on religion or on tradition especially if these things contradict the very Word of God which Catholicism does. True "born again" salvation is by grace through faith. This faith is an action of belief to believe that Jesus is MY Savior. Belief is not just head knowledge - knowing what Jesus did but it is active. John 1:12 says, "But as many as receive Him to them He gave the right to become children of God." Therefore my belief becomes a very real action and I "receive" Him as my Savior. This is when all people are saved when our belief becomes action - in receiving Christ into our lives. You can sincerely and devoutly follow any religion and NOT be saved. Read the story of Cornelius in the book of Acts. This man had love and godly devotion and he was a righteous man, by all accounts when you read about him you will make the assumption that he is saved, but he was not. God had him send for Peter so that Peter could show him how to truly be saved. All the love and sincere devotion and doing good could not save Cornelius and it can not save you. Do not be mislead to think that someone who is a Catholic is saved because they seem to be following Christ and have the correct vocabulary. I personally believe that if you are a true born again Christian who has received Jesus as your personal Savior and is walking with God by reading and studying the Bible you can NOT remain in the Catholic Church that teaches so many false and grievous doctrines. As a Catholic my faith was blind. I did not know the Bible. I revered the Bible as a holy book but I had never studied or understood it. Once I was saved I now had the Holy Spirit inside me to help me understand it and I began studying the Bible. It was the Word of God that set me free and corrected all my wrong religious beliefs that had me erroneously believing that I was ok. Sure I wouldn't go to heaven but my time in Purgatory wouldn't be very long and if my friends and family prayed for me my time there would be shortened. Dear brothers and sisters in Christ that is NOT in the Bible but that is what every good Catholic is taught and what they believe. Praise God for the Bible says "You will know the truth and the truth will set you free." Yes, Catholics can be saved and are saved when they hear the word of God. Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." Not works, Not religious doctrine, Not Mary, Not the sacraments and not doing your time in Purgatory" only through Jesus. Unless one is born again they can not enter into the Kingdom. But a true believer will NOT stay in a Church that does not teach the truth - we are to grow and mature in Christ and can not do so in a Church that does not even believe the Word when it comes to salvation. Grace and Peace!

  9. That's what I like to know too. Where does Last Daze get the 40 days from? I believe it could have end time implications because Christ revisited His disciples three times over a period of 40 days after His death on the cross and then visibly ascended to heaven on the 40th day which could have some significance in the end times. Two angels (messengers) told the disciple Christ will return the same way He left. Does this also involve 40 days? Maybe during the beginning of the second coming? Just speculating. Acts 1:9-11 New King James Version (NKJV) 9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”

  11. FWIW, Here's my story. I became a Christian at age 12 and am now in my mid 50s. I spent decades being very active in many different ministries while having a FT job and being married and raising 3 kids. About 7 or 8 years ago, God put me on the sidelines. Every ministry opportunity dried up. I got a boss that wouldn't let me do anything worthwhile. Basically, everything I'd been throwing my energy into for decades disappeared. I first assumed attack of the enemy, unconfessed sin, a new direction in life via closed doors looking for new doors, etc. After a year or more of that, I started to shut down. Basically, it was God trying to get me to slow down, relax, and stop being busy doing stuff. Over the course of a couple years, God brought me to the point where I saw I'd been making my identity by what I was doing. I was measuring myself by being a good Christian, a good husband, a good father, a good employee, using my gifts and talents, and by how much fruit I was seeing in my life. I'd look in the mirror every morning shaving and thing to myself "Loser!" I felt like I was falling short of everything I had the potential of achieving spiritually in spite of how hard I was trying and how much time and effort I was putting in. The bottom line: 30 odd years of having been a Christian and I felt like I was at a loss of what to do next. God finally made it clear to me that I had no idea of *who* He created me to be. I had defined myself by what I was *doing*, not by who God wanted me to *be*. He slowly opened my eyes that He wanted my life to be about being the unique person He had created me to be; not running myself ragged checking off items on a spiritual todo list. As I started living my Christian life from the perspective of being who God made me to be, I found that ministry and other things started to flow naturally. He did some healing on some emotional and spiritual wounds and bondage that I never knew were there. Within a month or so, my wife and daughters were commenting on how different I seemed. In the past few years, I feel like I've been accomplishing more when I minister to people than I had in the previous decades. Some things I'd been working on for years have just started flowing easily and growing naturally. My spiritual walk with God is more comfortable and stronger than it had been before. The bottom line is that I changed my spiritual life from working at *doing* the giant spiritual todo list (that I was mostly making up for myself) and replaced it with *being* who God created me to be.

They go on partying , shopping, spending, drinking, dancing, marrying and giving in marriage just as if JESUS IS NOT RETURNING, just as if JUDGMENT IS NOT AT HAND. So then, if they do not turn to YAHWEH in repentance to be healed, saved and delivered from SATAN, they are not healed, saved nor delivered from SATAN. THE GREATEST JOYOUSNESS for US (EKKLESIA ON EARTH) and for THE ANGELS IN HEAVEN is over ONE SOULS THAT IS SAVED, when they are saved, NOT over the others that keep going their own way, dead in sin and trespasses, even arm in arm , hand in hand, with the churches on the wide road to destruction.

  21. Well, one point at a time. He preached the GOOD NEWS to the dead. Yahweh raised some of the dead to life in CHRIST. That's the point of YAHWEH, JESUS, THE GOSPEL, and ALL BORN AGAIN OF HIM. What did all the men of YAHWEH, all of His messengers, say about mankind, society , the world (of men as it is) ? Much worse, much much worse, than a garbage dump (even worse than women's rags thrown in the trash). SALVATION is NOT from a "clean world", but from a dead pernicious one; SALVATION is NOT from anything even close to "a good" society, but from a deadly , dangerous, viciously evil one.

  26. The Law, All who sin apart from the law will also perish apart from the law, and all who sin under the law will be judged by the law. Romans 2:12 (New International Version) The Way Of Death Obviously, the law applies to those to whom it was given, for its purpose is to keep people from having excuses, and to show that the entire world is guilty before God. Romans 3:19 (New Living Translation) Or Jesus, The Way Of Eternal Life But now apart from the law, a righteousness of God has been revealed, being testified by the Law and the Prophets; even the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ to all and upon all who believe. For there is no distinction, for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God; being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus; whom God set forth whom God displayed publicly as a mercy seat, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, because in God's forbearance he had passed over the sins previously committed; to demonstrate his righteousness at this present time, so that he would be just, and the justifier of him who has faith in Jesus. 29. Hi Kyle. This thread you have posted in, is for introducing yourself and for others to welcome you. It is not really a place for marketing, neither is the rest of the forum. However, I looked at your survey, and see you are just gathering information, with good questions for what you are planning. I am going to approve this post, but generally I am not inclined to approve posts that send people to other websites. Here is seems like you are trying to mine our community for your own purposes, and I do not really blame you, but it is not what this community is for. We are people who interact with each other, not just use each other. I hope that does not sound too harsh. By the way, Welcome! What I am going to do though is allow the post to stand, it seems harmless enough, and without ill intentions. So, I am going to move this post, to a more appropriate forum area, and others may respond or not, as they choose!

  30. Let me add I was a very resistant atheist . One that spent his time around spiritual leaders all the time for 18 years as a career. God had a hard rock to bust down in this person. Yet it was destined from before the beginning. I can see that looking back. It is easy to see back, yet I almost never see forward. I walk there by faith of Jesus and the protection of the Holy Spirit within me. God used the long haired crazies on a charismatic tv programing channel, the Gideon Bible, the Book of Job, and a ton of personal trials to get my attention. And then He topped all of that with an angel that challenged me, appearing as one that reminded me of my grandfather, the angel told me, stop the game the debate it is now or it is done with you. Stunned, I sat down turned on TV to think a bit, found a crazy preacher Frederick Price making a really dumb presentation. Yet at the end of it I had heard him call me to turn to God via the Holy Spirit and ask for the grace and mercy of Jesus for my salvation. I said this grand prayer ( and nothing more) "If that is true I want it". And I was changed in an instant. I was a different man right then and there. I knew it. There was no doubting. And I suddenly also had a little personal gift from the Holy Spirit to remember the occasion by. I no longer was a smoker. I had a five and a half pack a day habit my addiction, and yet I no longer was a smoker- didn't have withdrawals, no cough, nothing. I just was not a smoker. It has been a wondrous little reminder every day for over thirty five years. Can a Christian be a smoker? Yes. But God gave this one a little gift, kinda nice I think. The point; God used all sorts of witnesses, even an angel, because God's will prevails. Even this hard case could not stand up against God's will to answer the long ago prayers of His saint my grandmother who prayed for my salvation daily and died long before I was an adult and even way longer befor ei was turned about to repent of my own sins against God. My conclusion is the quality of the witnesses doesn't much matter, least not as much as some of the saints seem to think it does, for God the Judge has everything in hand and His will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.

  36. The Chronicles of Narnia are not allegories - if you try to read them like that, then you will get into "major doctrinal issues"! They are stories with multiple and many-layered Biblical illusions, often giving deep insights into the Christian faith. I've read them many times over - my favourites are The Horse and His Boy (gets to grips with the interplay between sovereignty and free will) and The Silver Chair (guidance and obedience issues). I also like his sic-fi trilogy (Out of the Silent Planet etc), The Great Divorce, The Screwtape Letters, and of course his more serious theological works.

  37. The "sons/people of the light" are believers. The same expression comes up on I Thessalonians 5:5 - "You (i.e. Christians) are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness." It depends what point you think Jesus is making in the parable. We should learn from the example of the dishonest steward - not to copy his dishonesty but to copy his shrewdness! He realised that his own personal 'judgement day' was about to fall, so he took the necessary steps to ensure that he survived it. Like the steward, we are ‘on notice to quit’ – we all face certain death, sooner or later, and at the end of our lives we shall have to give account to God for how we have lived. It is sheer folly to bury our heads in the sand, when we have the opportunity now to ensure our future in the next world (Ecclesiastes 11:1). Worldly wealth is not ours: it belongs to God, and we are accountable to Him for how we use it. For us it is merely a means to an end – a means of blessing other people while we can. It will be worthless in heaven; but if we use our money, possessions and time for the benefit of others, we can convert them into heavenly treasure (I Timothy 6:18,19). And to exchange the temporary things of this world for the permanent ones of the next is a very wise investment (II Corinthians 5:1,2)!

Basing my answer on the original question asked, it does work, the 2 reasons for those Christians not being saved would be wrong motive & constant rejection of the Holy spirit, you'll probably want to add some more. Mt7:22 Many will say to me on that day, Lord Lord have we not prophesied in your name. That is Many Christians So you tell me what happens to the disobedient Christians that constantly rejects the Holy Spirit. You tell me, Do all Christians have it right? NO, but they are covered by the blood os Christ, BUT when you come into the knowledge of the truth & reject it on a continual basis, You tell me what is the out come then. Because whatever I say you will twist out of context & reject, you should know the answer. Have I ever said only Sabbath keeper will be saved, NO.

  42. For further study: D.A. Carson, ed., From Sabbath to Lord's Day (Grand Rapids: Zondervan, 1982). https://www.gospeloutreach.net/sabbath.html As far as Col.2:14-17 is concerned it is NOT clear at all that Paul was including the weekly Sabbath day in his passage. Paul himself qualifies what things were done away in verse 17 KJV Colossians 2 17 Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Only those feasts, Sabbath etc that were shadows were done away. No others. The weekly Sabbath was never a type, shadow, of anything to come, but a MEMORIAL of creation. It looked back, not forward. It could NOT have been a shadow of the ministry of Christ under any reasoning because it was established before the fall, which event came later and was the reason for Christs coming. Anything before the fall, including marriage, was holy and sacred, and was to remain so until all things were completed.

  43. Of his theology, I thought he was a latter day Paul. Earlier this year I caught a one-man performance about him in NYC called "The Most Reluctant Convert" and this month I hope to see "Shadowlands." https://fpatheatre.com/production/shadowlands/

  45. C.S. Lewis used to meet with his buddies in that Oxford pub, The Eagle and Child (350 yrs old). Like Malcolm Muggeridge, he was a fairly late convert. Lewis died just before to the assassination of Kennedy. A brilliant and insightful man with some very sad life stories too. "Out of the Silent Planet","Perelandra" and the other works previously mentioned come to mind. Leanne Payne referred to him a great deal in her healing/teaching workshops. "The Screwtape Letters" is perhaps his most famous book. All his books that I have read demonstrate to me a literary depth of classical understanding that is seldom seen today. If you had a Bible (unabridged) and Wigglesworth's Complete works plus all C.S. Lewis' writings, I think you could be well on your way to understanding and living a very balanced and interesting life.

  48. IT was not the requirement for being just AN apostel..........it was the REQUIREMENT FOR THE TWELVE which are part of the foundation. to be one of the TWELVE they had to have been with him from the start. judas fell.............mathias was numbered in among the TWELVE but barnabas and pual were apostels too. they just were not the TWELVE ORIGINAL .

  49. Marilyn, a question I have is do you believe there are any benefits or need to have actual church buildings or organizations? I desire smaller, more close group meetings, yet I see great value in an organized meeting place, and trying to figure out if this is from being taught by mans methods or not. Many times I do not know why or where preconceived ideas come from. At present I see importance in both an organization and home meetings.

  50. Yes It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63 And Amen Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. John 4:21-24
